And thou, dost thou sit κάθῃ kathē G2521 judging G2919 me according κατὰ kata G2596 to the law νόμον, nomon G3551 , and breaking the law G3551 commandest me to be smitten? 4 And those that stood παρεστῶτες parestōtes G3936 by said G3004 , Dost thou rail against the high ἀρχιερέα archierea G749 priest G749 of God θεοῦ theou G2316 ? 6 But Paul Παῦλος Paulos G3972 , knowing G1097 that the one ἓν hen G1520 part μέρος meros G3313 [ of them ] were G1510 of the Sadducees Σαδδουκαίων Saddoukaiōn G4523 and the other ἕτερον heteron G2087 of the Pharisees Φαρισαίων Pharisaiōn G5330 , cried ἔκραζεν ekrazen G2896 out in the council συνεδρίῳ· sunedriō G4892 , Brethren , I am G1510 a Pharisee Φαρισαῖός Pharisaios G5330 , son υἱὸς huios G5207 of Pharisees Φαρισαίων· Pharisaiōn G5330 : I am G1510 judged G2919 concerning περὶ peri G4012 the hope ἐλπίδος elpidos G1680 and resurrection ἀναστάσεως anastaseōs G386 of [ the ] dead νεκρῶν nekrōn G3498 . 7 And when he had spoken G2980 this , there was a tumult of the Pharisees Φαρισαίων Pharisaiōn G5330 and the Sadducees Σαδδουκαίων, Saddoukaiōn G4523 , and the multitude G4128 was divided . 8 For Sadducees Σαδδουκαῖοι Saddoukaioi G4523 say λέγουσιν legousin G3004 there is G1510 no resurrection ἀνάστασιν anastasin G386 , nor angel ἄγγελον angelon G32 , nor spirit πνεῦμα· pneuma G4151 ; but Pharisees Φαρισαῖοι Pharisaioi G5330 confess ὁμολογοῦσιν homologousin G3670 both of them . 9 And there was a great μεγάλη· megalē G3173 clamour, and the scribes G1122 of the Pharisees' part G3313 rising G450 up contended, saying λέγοντες· legontes G3004 , We find εὑρίσκομεν heuriskomen G2147 nothing evil κακὸν kakon G2556 in this man ἀνθρώπῳ anthrōpō G444 ; and if a spirit πνεῦμα pneuma G4151 has spoken ἐλάλησεν elalēsen G2980 to him , or an angel ἄγγελος angelos G32 ... 10 And a great πολλῆς pollēs G4183 tumult having arisen, the chiliarch, fearing φοβηθεὶς phobētheis G5399 lest μὴ mē G3361 Paul Παῦλος Paulos G3972 should have been torn διασπασθῇ diaspasthēa G1288 in pieces by them , commanded ἐκέλευσεν ekeleusen G2753 the troop to come G1096 down καταβὰν kataban G2597 and take him by force from the midst μέσου mesou G3319 of them , and to bring ἄγειν agein G71 [ him ] into the fortress. 11 But the following night νυκτὶ nukti G3571 the Lord κύριος kurios G2962 stood by him , and said G3004 , Be of good courage θάρσει tharsei G2293 ; for as thou hast testified μαρτυρῆσαι.¶ marturēsai G3140 the things concerning G4012 me at Jerusalem Ἰερουσαλήμ, Ierousalēm G2419 , so thou must bear G3140 witness G3140 at Rome Ῥώμην Rhōmēn G4516 also καὶ kai G2532 . 12 And when it was day ἡμέρας hēmeras G2250 , the Jews Ἰουδαῖοι Ioudaioi G2453 , having banded together, put G615 themselves under a curse , saying G3004 that they would neither eat G2068 nor drink πιεῖν piein G4095 till they should kill ἀποκτείνωσιν apokteinōsin G615 Paul Παῦλον. Paulon G3972 . 13 And they were G1510 more πλείους pleious G4183 than forty τεσσεράκοντα tesserakonta G5062 who had joined together in this oath; 14 and they went to the chief ἀρχιερεῦσιν archiereusin G749 priests G749 and elders πρεσβυτέροις presbuterois G4245 , and said G3004 , We have cursed ourselves with a curse to taste G1089 nothing μηδενὸς mēdenos G3367 until we kill ἀποκτείνωμεν apokteinōmen G615 Paul Παῦλον.
