Jesus Cleanses a Man with Leprosy

2Anda manG3015withG3015leprosyG3015cameπροσελθὼνproselthōnG4334to Him andbowedG4352downG4352before Him, and saidλέγων·legōnG3004, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,ifἐὰνeanG1437You are willingθέλῃς,thelēsG2309,You canδύνασαίdunasaiG1410makeG2511me cleanG2511.”

3Jesus reachedG1614outG1614with His handχεῖραcheiraG5495and touchedἥψατοhēpsatoG681him, sayingλέγων·legōnG3004,“I amG2309willingθέλω,thelōG2309;be cleansedκαθαρίσθητι.katharisthētiG2511.”And immediatelyεὐθέωςeutheōsG2112hisleprosyλέπρα.lepraG3014was cleansedἐκαθαρίσθηekatharisthēG2511.

4And JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidλέγειlegeiG3004to him, “SeeὅραhoraG3708that you tellG3004noG3367oneμηδενὶmēdeniG3367; butgoὕπαγεhupageG5217,showδεῖξονdeixonG1166yourselfG4572to the priestἱερεῖhi'ereiG2409and presentπροσένεγκονprosenegkonG4374theofferingδῶρονdōronG1435that MosesΜωϋσῆςMōusēsG3475commandedπροσέταξενprosetaxenG4367,as a testimonyμαρτύριονmarturionG3142to them.”

The Centurion’s Faith

5And whenJesus enteredΕἰσελθόντοςEiselthontosG1525CapernaumG2746, acenturionἑκατόνταρχοςhekatontarchosG1543cameπροσῆλθενprosēlthenG4334to Him, beggingπαρακαλῶνparakalōnG3870Him,

6and sayingλέγων·legōnG3004, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962, myservantπαῖςpaisG3816is lyingβέβληταιbeblētaiG906paralyzedπαραλυτικὸςparalutikosG3885at homeοἰκίᾳoikiaG3614,terriblyδεινῶςdeinōsG1171tormentedβασανιζόμενος.basanizomenosG928.”

7Jesus saidλέγειlegeiG3004to him,“I will comeἐλθὼνelthōnG2064and healθεραπεύσωtherapeusōG2323him.”

8But the centurionἑκατόνταρχοςhekatontarchosG1543repliedἀποκριθεὶς ἔφη·apokritheis ephēG611 G5346, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,I amεἰμὶeimiG1510not worthyἱκανὸςhikanosG2425for You to comeεἰσέλθῃς,eiselthēsG1525underὑπὸhupoG5259my roofστέγηνstegēnG4721,but justμόνονmononG3441sayG3004the wordλόγῳ,logōG3056, and myservantπαῖςpaisG3816will be healedἰαθήσεταιiathēsetaiG2390.

9For I alsoG2532amεἰμιeimiG1510a manἄνθρωπόςanthrōposG444underὑπὸhupoG5259authorityἐξουσίανexousianG1849,with soldiersστρατιώταςstratiōtasG4757underὑπ᾽hup᾽G5259me; and I sayλέγωlegōG3004to thisG3778oneG3778, ‘Goπορεύθητι,poreuthētiG4198!’and he goesπορεύεται,poreuetaiG4198,and to anotherἄλλῳ·allōG243, ‘Comeἔρχου,erchouG2064!’and he comesἔρχεται,erchetaiG2064,and to my slaveδούλῳdoulōG1401, ‘DoποίησονpoiēsonG4160thisG3778!’and he doesποιεῖ.¶poieiG4160it.”

10NowδὲdeG1161when JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424heardἈκούσαςAkousasG191this,He wasG2296amazedG2296and saidλέγωlegōG3004to thoseG3588who were followingἀκολουθοῦσιν·akolouthousinG190,“TrulyἀμὴνamēnG281I sayG3004to you, I have not foundεὗρον.heuronG2147suchG5118greatτοσαύτηνtosautēnG5118faithπίστινpistinG4102with anyoneοὐδενὶoudeniG3762in IsraelἸσραὴλIsraēlG2474.

11And I sayλέγωlegōG3004to you that manyπολλοὶpolloiG4183will comeἥξουσινhēxousinG2240from eastἀνατολῶνanatolōnG395and westδυσμῶνdusmōnG1424, andreclineἀνακλιθήσονταιanaklithēsontaiG347at the tablewith AbrahamἈβραὰμAbraamG11,IsaacἸσαὰκIsaakG2464,and JacobἸακὼβIakōbG2384in the kingdomβασιλείᾳbasileiaG932of heavenοὐρανῶν.ouranōnG3772;

12butthe sonsυἱοὶhuioiG5207of the kingdomβασιλείαςbasileiasG932will be thrownG1544outG1544intothe outerἐξώτερον·exōteronG1857darknessσκότοςskotosG4655;inG1563thatG1563placeG1563there will be weepingκλαυθμὸςklauthmosG2805and gnashingβρυγμὸςbrugmosG1030of teethὀδόντων.odontōnG3599.”

13And JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424saidG3004to the centurionἑκατοντάρχῃ·hekatontarchēG1543,“Goὕπαγε,hupageG5217;it shall be doneγενηθήτωgenēthētōG1096for youas you have believedἐπίστευσαςepisteusasG4100.” And theservantπαῖςpaisG3816was healedἰάθηiathēG2390at that verymomentὥρᾳhōraG5610.

Peter’s Mother-in-law and Many Others Healed

14When JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424cameἐλθὼνelthōnG2064into Peter’sΠέτρουPetrouG4074homeοἰκίανoikianG3614,He sawG3708his mother-in-lawπενθερὰνpentheranG3994lyingG906sickG906in bed with a feverπυρέσσουσανpuressousanG4445.

15And He touchedἥψατοhēpsatoG681her handχειρὸςcheirosG5495,and the feverπυρετός.puretosG4446leftἀφῆκενaphēkenG863her; and she gotG1453upG1453andwaitedG1247onG1247Him.

16NowδὲdeG1161when eveningὈψίαςOpsiasG3798cameγενομένηςgenomenēsG1096,they broughtπροσήνεγκανprosēnegkanG4374to Him manyπολλούς,pollousG4183who were demon-possessedδαιμονιζομένουςdaimonizomenousG1139;and He castἐξέβαλενexebalenG1544outG1544the spiritsπνεύματαpneumataG4151with a wordλόγῳ,logōG3056, andhealedἐθεράπευσεν,etherapeusenG2323allπάνταςpantasG3956who were illκακῶς ἔχονταςkakōs echontasG2192 G2560.

17This happenedsoὅπωςhopōsG3704thatG3704whatG3588was spokenλέγοντος·legontosG3004throughδιὰdiaG1223IsaiahἨσαΐουĒsaiouG2268the prophetπροφήτουprophētouG4396would be fulfilledπληρωθῇplērōthēaG4137: “He HimselfαὐτὸςautosG846tookἔλαβενelabenG2983our illnessesἀσθενείαςastheneiasG769andcarriedG941awayG941our diseasesνόσουςnosousG3554.”

Discipleship Tested

18NowδὲdeG1161when JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424sawG3708a crowdὄχλονochlonG3793aroundπερὶperiG4012Him,He gaveG2753ordersG2753to departἀπελθεῖνapeltheinG565to the otherπέραν.peranG4008sideG4008of the sea.

19ThenκαὶkaiG2532a scribeγραμματεὺςgrammateusG1122cameπροσελθὼνproselthōnG4334and saidG3004to Him, “Teacherδιδάσκαλε,didaskaleG1320,I will followἀκολουθήσωakolouthēsōG190You whereverὅπου ἐὰνhopou eanG3699 G1437You goἀπέρχῃ.aperchēG565.”

20And JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidλέγειlegeiG3004to him,“The foxesἀλώπεκεςalōpekesG258haveἔχουσινechousinG2192holesφωλεοὺςphōleousG5454and the birdsπετεινὰpeteinaG4071of the skyοὐρανοῦouranouG3772havenestsκατασκηνώσεις,kataskēnōseisG2682, butthe SonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of ManἀνθρώπουanthrōpouG444hasἔχειecheiG2192nowhereοὐκ ποῦouk pouG3756 G4226to layκλίνῃ.¶klinēG2827His headκεφαλὴνkephalēnG2776.”

21And anotherἝτεροςHeterosG2087of the disciplesμαθητῶνmathētōnG3101saidG3004to Him, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,allowἐπίτρεψόνepitrepsonG2010me firstπρῶτονprōtonG4413to goἀπελθεῖνapeltheinG565and buryθάψαιthapsaiG2290my fatherπατέραpateraG3962.”

22But JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424saidλέγειlegeiG3004to him, “FollowἀκολούθειakoloutheiG190Me, and letἄφεςaphesG863the deadνεκροὺςnekrousG3498buryθάψαιthapsaiG2290their ownἑαυτῶνhe'autōnG1438deadνεκρούς.¶nekrousG3498.”

Jesus Calms the Storm

23When He gotἐμβάντιembantiG1684into the boatπλοῖονploionG4143,His disciplesμαθηταὶmathētaiG3101followedἠκολούθησανēkolouthēsanG190Him.

24And beholdἰδοὺidouG2400, aviolentμέγαςmegasG3173stormσεισμὸςseismosG4578developedἐγένετοegenetoG1096on the seaθαλάσσῃthalassēG2281,soὥστεhōsteG5620thatG5620the boatπλοῖονploionG4143was beingG2572coveredG2572by the wavesκυμάτων·kumatōnG2949; but JesusHimselfαὐτὸςautosG846wasG2518asleepG2518.

25And they cameπροσελθόντεςproselthontesG4334to Himand wokeἤγειρανēgeiranG1453Him, sayingλέγοντες·legontesG3004, “SaveσῶσονsōsonG4982us,Lordκύριε,kurieG2962;we are perishingἀπολλύμεθα.apollumethaG622!”

26He saidλέγειlegeiG3004to them,“WhyτίtiG5101are youafraidδειλοίdeiloiG1169,you menG3640ofG3640littleὀλιγόπιστοι;oligopistoiG3640faithG3640?”ThenτότεtoteG5119He gotG1453upG1453and rebukedἐπετίμησενepetimēsenG2008the windsἀνέμοιςanemoisG417and the seaθαλάσσῃ,thalassēG2281, andit becameἐγένετοegenetoG1096perfectlyμεγάλη.¶megalēG3173calmγαλήνηgalēnēG1055.

27The menἄνθρωποιanthrōpoiG444wereG2296amazedG2296,and saidλέγοντες·legontesG3004, “WhatG4217kindποταπόςpotaposG4217ofG4217aG4217manG4217is thisοὗτοςhoutosG3778,that evenG2532the windsἄνεμοιanemoiG417and the seaθάλασσαthalassaG2281obeyὑπακούουσιν;¶hupakouousinG5219Him?”

Jesus Sends Demons into Pigs

28And when He cameἐλθόντοςelthontosG2064to the otherπέρανperanG4008sideG4008into the countryχώρανchōranG5561of the GadarenesΓαδαρηνῶνGadarēnōnG1046,twoδύοduoG1417demon-possessedδαιμονιζόμενοιdaimonizomenoiG1139men confrontedὑπήντησανhupēntēsanG5221Him as they were comingG1831outG1831of the tombsμνημείωνmnēmeiōnG3419. They wereso extremelyλίαν,lianG3029violentχαλεποὶchalepoiG5467that noμὴmēG3361oneτινὰtinaG5100couldἰσχύεινischueinG2480passπαρελθεῖνpareltheinG3928by that wayὁδοῦhodouG3598.

29And they criedG2896outG2896,sayingλέγοντες·legontesG3004, “WhatτίtiG5101business do You have with us, SonυἱὲhuieG5207of Godθεοῦ;theouG2316?Have You comeἦλθεςēlthesG2064hereὧδεhōdeG5602to tormentβασανίσαιbasanisaiG928us beforeπρὸproG4253the timeκαιροῦkairouG2540?”

30NowδὲdeG1161there was a herdἀγέληagelēG34of manyπολλῶνpollōnG4183pigsχοίρωνchoirōnG5519feedingβοσκομένη.boskomenēG1006atG3112aG3112distanceG3112from them.

31And the demonsδαίμονεςdaimonesG1142beggedπαρεκάλουνparekalounG3870Him, sayingλέγοντες·legontesG3004, “IfεἰeiG1487You are going tocastἐκβάλλειςekballeisG1544us outG1544,sendἀπόστειλονaposteilonG649us into the herdἀγέληνagelēnG34of pigsχοίρων.choirōnG5519.”

32And He saidG3004to them,“Goὑπάγετε.hupageteG5217!”And they cameG1831outG1831and wentἀπῆλθονapēlthonG565into the pigsχοίρους,choirousG5519;and beholdἰδοὺidouG2400,the wholeπᾶσαpasaG3956herdἀγέληagelēG34rushedὥρμησενhōrmēsenG3729downκατὰkataG2596the steepκρημνοῦkrēmnouG2911bankG2911into the seaθάλασσαν,thalassanG2281anddrownedἀπέθανονapethanonG599in the watersὕδασιν.hudasinG5204.

33And the herdsmenβόσκοντεςboskontesG1006ranG5343awayG5343,and wentἀπελθόντεςapelthontesG565to the cityπόλινpolinG4172and reportedἀπήγγειλανapēngeilanG518everythingπάνταpantaG3956,includingG2532whatG3588hadG3588happenedG3588to thedemon-possessedG1139menG1139.

34And beholdἰδοὺidouG2400,the wholeπᾶσαpasaG3956cityπόλιςpolisG4172cameG1831outG1831to meetὑπάντησινhupantēsinG5222JesusἸησοῦ,IēsouG2424;and when they sawG3708Him,they pleadedπαρεκάλεσανparekalesanG3870with Him to leaveμεταβῇmetabēaG3327their regionὁρίωνhoriōnG3725.
