1When 1Jesus cameG2597 downG2597 from the mountainG3735, 2largeG4183 crowdsG3793 followedG190 Him. 2And 3a manG3015 withG3015 4leprosyG3015 cameG4334 to Him and 56bowedG4352 downG4352 before Him, and saidG3004, “LordG2962, ifG1437 You are willingG2309, You canG1410 makeG2511 me cleanG2511.” 37Jesus reachedG1614 outG1614 with His handG5495 and touchedG681 him, sayingG3004, “I amG2309 willingG2309; be cleansedG2511.” And immediatelyG2112 his 8leprosyG3014 was cleansedG2511. 4And JesusG2424 saidG3004 to him, “9SeeG3708 that you tellG3004 noG3367 oneG3367; but 10goG5217, 11showG1166 yourselfG4572 to the priestG2409 and presentG4374 the 12offeringG1435 that MosesG3475 commandedG4367, as a testimonyG3142 to them.”

5And 13when 14Jesus enteredG1525 CapernaumG2746, a 15centurionG1543 cameG4334 to Him, beggingG3870 Him, 6and sayingG3004, “16LordG2962, my 17servantG3816 is lyingG906 18paralyzedG3885 at homeG3614, terriblyG1171 tormentedG928.” 7Jesus saidG3004 to him, “I will comeG2064 and healG2323 him.” 8But the centurionG1543 repliedG611G5346, “19LordG2962, I amG1510 not worthyG2425 for You to comeG1525 underG5259 my roofG4721, but justG3441 20sayG3004 the wordG3056, and my 21servantG3816 will be healedG2390. 9For I alsoG2532 amG1510 a manG444 underG5259 22authorityG1849, with soldiersG4757 underG5259 me; and I sayG3004 to thisG3778 oneG3778, ‘GoG4198!’ and he goesG4198, and to anotherG243, ‘ComeG2064!’ and he comesG2064, and to my slaveG1401, ‘DoG4160 thisG3778!’ and he doesG4160 it.” 10NowG1161 when JesusG2424 heardG191 this, He wasG2296 amazedG2296 and saidG3004 to thoseG3588 who were followingG190, “TrulyG281 I sayG3004 to you, I have not foundG2147 suchG5118 greatG5118 faithG4102 23with anyoneG3762 in IsraelG2474. 11And I sayG3004 to you that manyG4183 24will comeG2240 from eastG395 and westG1424, and 25reclineG347 at the table with AbrahamG11, IsaacG2464, and JacobG2384 in the kingdomG932 of heavenG3772; 12but 26the sonsG5207 of the kingdomG932 will be thrownG1544 outG1544 into 27the outerG1857 darknessG4655; inG1563 thatG1563 placeG1563 28there will be weepingG2805 and gnashingG1030 of teethG3599.” 13And JesusG2424 saidG3004 to the centurionG1543, “GoG5217; 29it shall be doneG1096 for you 30as you have believedG4100.” And the 31servantG3816 was healedG2390 at that very 32momentG5610.

1433When JesusG2424 cameG2064 into Peter’sG4074 34homeG3614, He sawG3708 his mother-in-lawG3994 lyingG906 sickG906 in bed with a feverG4445. 15And He touchedG681 her handG5495, and the feverG4446 leftG863 her; and she gotG1453 upG1453 and 35waitedG1247 onG1247 Him. 16NowG1161 when eveningG3798 cameG1096, they broughtG4374 to Him manyG4183 36who were demon-possessedG1139; and He castG1544 outG1544 the spiritsG4151 with a wordG3056, and 37healedG2323 allG3956 who were illG2192G2560. 17This happened soG3704 thatG3704 whatG3588 was spokenG3004 throughG1223 IsaiahG2268 the prophetG4396 would be fulfilledG4137: “38He HimselfG846 tookG2983 our illnessesG769 and 39carriedG941 awayG941 our diseasesG3554.”

Discipleship Tested

18NowG1161 when JesusG2424 sawG3708 a crowdG3793 aroundG4012 Him, 40He gaveG2753 ordersG2753 to departG565 to the otherG4008 sideG4008 of the sea. 1941ThenG2532 a scribeG1122 cameG4334 and saidG3004 to Him, “TeacherG1320, I will followG190 You whereverG3699G1437 You goG565.” 20And JesusG2424 saidG3004 to him, “The foxesG258 haveG2192 holesG5454 and the birdsG4071 of the skyG3772 have nestsG2682, but 42the SonG5207 of ManG444 hasG2192 nowhereG3756G4226 to layG2827 His headG2776.” 21And anotherG2087 of the disciplesG3101 saidG3004 to Him, “LordG2962, allowG2010 me firstG4413 to goG565 and buryG2290 my fatherG3962.” 22But JesusG2424 saidG3004 to him, “43FollowG190 Me, and letG863 the deadG3498 buryG2290 their ownG1438 deadG3498.”

2344When He gotG1684 into the boatG4143, His disciplesG3101 followedG190 Him. 24And beholdG2400, a 45violentG3173 stormG4578 developedG1096 on the seaG2281, soG5620 thatG5620 the boatG4143 was beingG2572 coveredG2572 by the wavesG2949; but Jesus HimselfG846 wasG2518 asleepG2518. 25And they cameG4334 to Him and wokeG1453 Him, sayingG3004, “46SaveG4982 us, LordG2962; we are perishingG622!” 26He saidG3004 to them, “WhyG5101 are you 47afraidG1169, 48you menG3640 ofG3640 littleG3640 faithG3640?” ThenG5119 He gotG1453 upG1453 and rebukedG2008 the windsG417 and the seaG2281, and 49it becameG1096 perfectlyG3173 calmG1055. 27The menG444 wereG2296 amazedG2296, and saidG3004, “WhatG4217 kindG4217 ofG4217 aG4217 manG4217 is thisG3778, that evenG2532 the windsG417 and the seaG2281 obeyG5219 Him?”

Jesus Sends Demons into Pigs

2850And when He cameG2064 to the otherG4008 sideG4008 into the countryG5561 of the GadarenesG1046, twoG1417 51demon-possessedG1139 men confrontedG5221 Him as they were comingG1831 outG1831 of the tombsG3419. They were so extremelyG3029 violentG5467 that noG3361 oneG5100 couldG2480 passG3928 by that wayG3598. 29And they criedG2896 outG2896, sayingG3004, “5253WhatG5101 business do You have with us, SonG5207 of GodG2316? Have You comeG2064 hereG5602 to tormentG928 us beforeG4253 54the timeG2540?” 30NowG1161 there was a herdG34 of manyG4183 pigsG5519 feedingG1006 atG3112 aG3112 distanceG3112 from them. 31And the demonsG1142 beggedG3870 Him, sayingG3004, “IfG1487 You are going to castG1544 us outG1544, sendG649 us into the herdG34 of pigsG5519.” 32And He saidG3004 to them, “GoG5217!” And they cameG1831 outG1831 and wentG565 into the pigsG5519; and beholdG2400, the wholeG3956 herdG34 rushedG3729 downG2596 the steepG2911 bankG2911 into the seaG2281 and 55drownedG599 in the watersG5204. 33And the herdsmenG1006 ranG5343 awayG5343, and wentG565 to the cityG4172 and reportedG518 everythingG3956, 56includingG2532 whatG3588 hadG3588 happenedG3588 to the 57demon-possessedG1139 menG1139. 34And beholdG2400, the wholeG3956 cityG4172 cameG1831 outG1831 to meetG5222 JesusG2424; and when they sawG3708 Him, 58they pleadedG3870 with Him to leaveG3327 their regionG3725.
