9and do not assumeδόξητεdoxēteG1380that you can sayλέγεινlegeinG3004to yourselvesἑαυτοῖς·he'autoisG1438, ‘We haveἔχομενechomenG2192AbrahamἈβραάμ·AbraamG11as ourfatherπατέραpateraG3962’;for I tellλέγωlegōG3004you that GodθεὸςtheosG2316is ableδύναταιdunataiG1410,from theseτούτωνtoutōnG3778stonesλίθωνlithōnG3037,to raiseἐγεῖραιegeiraiG1453upG1453childrenτέκναteknaG5043for AbrahamἈβραάμ.¶AbraamG11.

14But JohnἸωάννηςIōannēsG2491tried to preventδιεκώλυενdiekōluenG1254Him, sayingλέγων·legōnG3004, “I haveἔχωechōG2192theneedχρείανchreianG5532to be baptizedβαπτισθῆναι,baptisthēnaiG907by You, and yetYou are comingἔρχῃerchēG2064to me?”

15But JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424,answeringἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisG611,saidG3004to him,“AllowἄφεςaphesG863itat thisG737timeG737;for in thisG3779wayG3779it is fittingπρέπονpreponG4241for usto fulfillπληρῶσαιplērōsaiG4137allπᾶσανpasanG3956righteousnessδικαιοσύνην.dikaiosunēnG1343.”ThenτότεtoteG5119he allowedἀφίησινaphiēsinG863Him.
