4But when JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424heardἈκούσαςAkousasG191this,He saidG3004,“ThisαὕτηhautēG3778sicknessἀσθένειαastheneiaG769is notmeantG4314forG4314deathθάνατονthanatonG2288, but is forthe gloryδόξηςdoxēsG1391of GodθεοῦtheouG2316,soG2443thatG2443the SonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of GodθεοῦtheouG2316may beG1392glorifiedG1392by it.”

8The disciplesμαθηταί·mathētaiG3101saidλέγουσινlegousinG3004to Him, “Rabbiῥαββί,rhabbiG4461,the JewsἸουδαῖοι,IoudaioiG2453were justG3568nowνῦνnunG3568seekingἐζήτουνezētounG2212to stoneλιθάσαιlithasaiG3034You, and yetYou are goingὑπάγειςhupageisG5217thereἐκεῖ;¶ekeiG1563againπάλινpalinG3825?”

9JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424repliedἈπεκρίθηApekrithēG611, “Are thereG1563not twelveδώδεκαdōdekaG1427hoursὧραίhōraiG5610in the dayἡμέρας;hēmerasG2250?IfἐάνeanG1437anyoneτιςtisG5100walksπεριπατῇperipatēaG4043duringἐνenG1722the dayἡμέρᾳ,hēmeraG2250,he does not stumbleπροσκόπτει,proskopteiG4350,becauseὅτιhotiG3754he seesβλέπει.blepeiG991the lightφῶςphōsG5457of thisτούτουtoutouG3778worldκόσμουkosmouG2889.

15and I amG5463gladG5463for your sakesδι᾽di᾽G1223that I was not thereἐκεῖ·ekeiG1563,soG2443thatG2443you may believeπιστεύσητε,pisteusēteG4100;but let’s goἄγωμενagōmenG71to him.”

16ThereforeοὖνounG3767ThomasΘωμᾶςThōmasG2381,who was calledG3004DidymusΔίδυμοςDidumosG1324,saidG3004to hisfellowG4827disciplesG4827, “Let’s alsoκαὶkaiG2532goἄγωμενagōmenG71,soG2443thatG2443we may dieἀποθάνωμενapothanōmenG599with Him!”

17SoοὖνounG3767when JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424cameἐλθὼνelthōnG2064,He foundεὗρενheurenG2147that he had alreadyἤδηēdēG2235beenἔχονταechontaG2192in the tombμνημείῳ.mnēmeiōG3419fourτέσσαραςtessarasG5064daysἡμέραςhēmerasG2250.

21MarthaΜάρθαMarthaG3136thenοὖνounG3767saidG3004to JesusἸησοῦν·IēsounG2424, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,ifεἰeiG1487You had beenἦςēsG1510hereὧδε,hōdeG5602,my brotherἀδελφόςadelphosG80would not have diedἀπέθανενapethanenG599.

22EvenκαὶkaiG2532nowνῦνnunG3568I knowG3609thatwhateverὅσα ἂνhosa anG3745 G302You askαἰτήσῃaitēsēG154of GodθεὸνtheonG2316,Godθεός.¶theosG2316will giveδώσειdōseiG1325You.”

23JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidΛέγειLegeiG3004to her,“Your brotherἀδελφόςadelphosG80will riseἀναστήσεταιanastēsetaiG450from the dead.”

24MarthaΜάρθα·MarthaG3136saidλέγειlegeiG3004to Him, “I knowG3609that he will riseἀναστήσεταιanastēsetaiG450in the resurrectionἀναστάσειanastaseiG386on the lastἐσχάτῃeschatēG2078dayἡμέρᾳ.¶hēmeraG2250.”

25JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidG3004to her, “I amεἰμιeimiG1510the resurrectionἀνάστασιςanastasisG386and the lifeζωή·zōēG2222;the one who believesπιστεύωνpisteuōnG4100in Me will liveζήσεται,zēsetaiG2198,evenG2579ifG2579he diesἀποθάνῃapothanēG599,

26and everyoneπᾶςpasG3956who livesζῶνzōnG2198and believesπιστεύωνpisteuōnG4100in Mewill neverοὐ μὴ αἰῶνα.ou mē aiōnaG3756 G3361 G1519 G165dieἀποθάνῃapothanēG599.Do you believeπιστεύειςpisteueisG4100thisτοῦτο;toutoG3778?”

27She saidλέγειlegeiG3004to Him, “YesναὶnaiG3483,Lordκύριε·kurieG2962;I have come to believeπεπίστευκαpepisteukaG4100that You are theChristχριστὸςchristosG5547,the SonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of GodθεοῦtheouG2316, andHe who comesἐρχόμενος.¶erchomenosG2064into the worldκόσμονkosmonG2889.”

28When she had saidG3004thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778, sheleftἀπῆλθενapēlthenG565and calledἐφώνησενephōnēsenG5455MaryΜαριὰμMariamG3137her sisterἀδελφὴνadelphēnG79,sayingG3004secretlyλάθρᾳlathraG2977, “The TeacherδιδάσκαλοςdidaskalosG1320is hereπάρεστινparestinG3918and is callingφωνεῖphōneiG5455for you.”

29And whenὡςhōsG5613she heardἤκουσενēkousenG191this,she gotG1453upG1453quicklyταχὺtachuG5035and cameἤρχετοērchetoG2064to Him.

30NowδὲdeG1161JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424had not yetοὔπωoupōG3768comeἐληλύθειelēlutheiG2064into the villageκώμην,kōmēnG2968, butwas stillἔτιetiG2089at the placeτόπῳtopōG5117whereὅπουhopouG3699MarthaΜάρθα.¶MarthaG3136metὑπήντησενhupēntēsenG5221Him.

31ThenοὖνounG3767the JewsἸουδαῖοιIoudaioiG2453who were with her in the houseοἰκίᾳoikiaG3614and wereconsolingπαραμυθούμενοιparamuthoumenoiG3888her, when they sawG3708that MaryΜαριὰμMariamG3137had gottenG450upG450quicklyταχέωςtacheōsG5030and leftἐξῆλθεν,exēlthenG1831,they followedἠκολούθησανēkolouthēsanG190her, thinkingδόξαντεςdoxantesG1380that she was goingὑπάγειhupageiG5217to the tombμνημεῖονmnēmeionG3419to weepκλαύσῃklausēG2799thereἐκεῖ.ekeiG1563.

32SoοὖνounG3767whenὡςhōsG5613MaryΜαριὰμMariamG3137cameἦλθενēlthenG2064to the placewhereὅπουhopouG3699JesusἸησοῦς,IēsousG2424was, she sawG3708Him and fellἔπεσενepesenG4098at His feetπόδαςpodasG4228,sayingλέγουσαlegousaG3004to Him, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,ifεἰeiG1487You had beenG1510hereὧδε,hōdeG5602,my brotherἀδελφός.adelphosG80would not have diedἀπέθανενapethanenG599.”

33ThereforeοὖνounG3767whenὡςhōsG5613JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424sawG3708her weepingκλαίουσανklaiousanG2799, andthe JewsἸουδαίουςIoudaiousG2453who cameσυνελθόνταςsunelthontasG4905with her alsoweepingκλαίοντας,klaiontasG2799, Hewas deeplyG1690movedG1690in spiritπνεύματιpneumatiG4151andwas troubledἐτάραξενetaraxenG5015,

34and He saidλέγουσινlegousinG3004,“WhereποῦpouG4226have you laidτεθείκατεtetheikateG5087him?”They saidG3004to Him, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,comeἔρχουerchouG2064and seeG3708.”

35JesusἸησοῦς.IēsousG2424weptἐδάκρυσενedakrusenG1145.

36SoοὖνounG3767the JewsἸουδαῖοι·IoudaioiG2453were sayingἔλεγονelegonG3004, “SeeἴδεideG2396howπῶςpōsG4459HelovedἐφίλειephileiG5368him!”

37But someτινὲςtinesG5100of them saidG3004, “CouldἐδύνατοedunatoG1410thisG3778ManG3778, whoopenedἀνοίξαςanoixasG455the eyesὀφθαλμοὺςophthalmousG3788of the manG5185whoG5185wasG5185blindτυφλοῦtuphlouG5185,not haveG4160alsoκαὶkaiG2532keptG4160thisG3778manG3778from dyingἀποθάνῃ;¶apothanēG599?”

38SoοὖνounG3767JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424,againπάλινpalinG3825being deeplyG1690movedG1690withinἐν ἑαυτῷen he'autōG1722 G1438,cameἔρχεταιerchetaiG2064to the tombμνημεῖον·mnēmeionG3419.NowδὲdeG1161it was acaveσπήλαιον,spēlaionG4693,and a stoneλίθοςlithosG3037was lyingἐπέκειτοepekeitoG1945againstἐπ᾽ep᾽G1909it.

39JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidλέγειlegeiG3004,“RemoveἄρατεarateG142the stoneλίθον.lithonG3037.”MarthaΜάρθα·MarthaG3136,the sisterἀδελφὴadelphēG79of the deceasedτετελευτηκότοςteteleutēkotosG5053,saidλέγειlegeiG3004to Him, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,byG2235thisG2235timeG2235there will be a stenchὄζει·ozeiG3605,for he has beenἐστιν.estinG1510deadfourG5066daysG5066.”

40JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidλέγειlegeiG3004to her, “Did I not sayG3004to you that ifἐὰνeanG1437you believeπιστεύσῃςpisteusēsG4100,you will seeὄψῃopsēG3708the gloryδόξανdoxanG1391of Godθεοῦ;theouG2316?”

41SoοὖνounG3767they removedἦρανēranG142thestoneλίθονlithonG3037.And JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424raisedἦρεν ἄνωēren anōG142 G507His eyesὀφθαλμοὺςophthalmousG3788,and saidG3004, “Fatherπάτερ,paterG3962,I thankεὐχαριστῶeucharistōG2168You that You have heardἤκουσάςēkousasG191Me.

42But I knewG3609that You alwaysπάντοτέpantoteG3842hearἀκούεις·akoueisG191Me; neverthelessἀλλὰallaG235,becauseδιὰdiaG1223of thepeopleὄχλονochlonG3793standingG4026aroundG4026I saidG3004it,soG2443thatG2443they may believeπιστεύσωσινpisteusōsinG4100thatYou sentἀπέστειλας.apesteilasG649Me.”

43And when He had saidG3004theseG3778thingsταῦταtautaG3778,He criedG2905outG2905with a loudμεγάλῃmegalēG3173voiceφωνῇphōnēaG5456,“LazarusΛάζαρε,LazareG2976,comeδεῦροdeuroG1204outἔξω.exōG1854!”

46But someτινὲςtinesG5100of them wentἀπῆλθονapēlthonG565to thePhariseesΦαρισαίουςPharisaiousG5330and toldG3004them the things whichἃhaG3739JesusἸησοῦς.¶IēsousG2424had doneἐποίησενepoiēsenG4160.
