Luke 1:2-32

as those who from the beginning were eye-witnesses of and attendants on the WordG3056 have deliveredG3860 them to us,

it has seemedG1380 goodG1380 to me also, accurately acquainted from the origin with all thingsG3956, to writeG1125 to thee with method, mostG2903 excellentG2903 TheophilusG2321,

that thou mightest knowG1921 the certainty of those thingsG3739 in which thou hast been instructedG2727.

There was in the daysG2250 of HerodG2264, the kingG935 of Judaea, a certainG5100 priestG2409, by nameG3686 Zacharias, of the course of Abia, and his wifeG1135 of the daughtersG2364 of AaronG2, and her nameG3686 ElizabethG1665.

And they wereG1510 both justG1342 before 1GodG2316, walkingG4198 in all the commandmentsG1785 and ordinances of the LordG2962 blamelessG273.

And they had no childG5043, because ElizabethG1665 wasG1510 barrenG4723, and they wereG1510 both advanced in years.

And it cameG1096 to passG1096, as he fulfilled his priestly service before 2GodG2316 in the orderG5010 of his course,

it fell to him by lot, accordingG2596 to the customG1485 of the priesthood, to enterG1525 into the templeG3485 of the LordG2962 to burn incense.

And all the multitudeG4128 of the peopleG2992 wereG1510 prayingG4336 without at the hourG5610 of incenseG2368.

And an angelG32 of [the] LordG2962 appeared to him, standingG2476 on the rightG1188 of the altarG2379 of incenseG2368.

And Zacharias was troubledG5015, seeingG3708 [him], and fearG5401 fell upon him.

But the angelG32 saidG3004 to him, FearG5399 not, Zacharias, because thy supplicationG1162 has been heard, and thy wifeG1135 ElizabethG1665 shall bearG1080 thee a sonG5207, and thou shalt callG2564 his nameG3686 JohnG2491.

And he shall beG1510 to thee joyG5479 and rejoicingG5463, and manyG4183 shall rejoiceG5463 at his birth.

For he shall beG1510 greatG3173 before [the] LordG2962, and he shall drinkG4095 no wineG3631 nor strong drinkG4095; and he shall beG1510 filledG4130 with [the] HolyG40 SpiritG4151, evenG2532 from his mother's wombG2836.

And manyG4183 of the sonsG5207 of IsraelG2474 shall he turnG1994 to [the] LordG2962 their 3GodG2316.

And he shall goG4281 before him in [the] spiritG4151 and powerG1411 of Elias, to turnG1994 heartsG2588 of fathersG3962 to childrenG5043, and disobedientG545 ones to [the] thoughts of justG1342 [menG1342], to makeG2090 readyG2090 for [the] LordG2962 a preparedG2090 peopleG2992.

And Zacharias saidG3004 to the angelG32, How shall I knowG1097 this, for I amG1510 an old manG3778, and my wifeG1135 advanced in years?

And the angelG32 answeringG611, saidG3004 to him, I amG1510 GabrielG1043, who standG3936 before 4GodG2316, and I have beenG1510 sentG649 to speakG2980 to thee, and to bringG2097 these glad tidings to thee;

and beholdG2400, thou shalt beG1510 silentG4623 and not ableG1410 to speakG2980, till the dayG2250 in which these thingsG3778 shall take placeG1096, because thou hast not believedG4100 my wordsG3056, the which shall beG1510 fulfilled in their timeG2540.

And the peopleG2992 wereG1510 awaiting Zacharias, and they wonderedG2296 at his delayingG5549 in the templeG3485.

But when he cameG1831 out he could not speakG2980 to them, and they recognised that he had seenG3708 a visionG3701 in the templeG3485. And he wasG1510 making signs to them, and continued dumb.

And it cameG1096 to passG1096, whenG5613 the daysG2250 of his serviceG3009 were completed, he departedG565 to his houseG3624.

NowG1161 after these daysG2250, ElizabethG1665 his wifeG1135 conceived, and hid herself fiveG4002 monthsG3376, sayingG3004,

ThusG3779 has [the] LordG2962 done to me in [these] daysG2250 in which he looked upon [me] to takeG851 awayG851 my reproach among menG444.

But in the sixthG1623 monthG3376, the angelG32 GabrielG1043 was sentG649 of 5GodG2316 to a cityG4172 of GalileeG1056, of which [the] nameG3686 [was] NazarethG3478,

to a virginG3933 betrothedG3423 to a manG435 whose nameG3686 [was] JosephG2501, of the houseG3624 of DavidG1138; and the virgin's nameG3686 [was] MaryG3137.

And the angelG32 cameG1525 in to her, and saidG3004, HailG5463, [thou] favoured one! the LordG2962 [is] with thee: [blessed art thou amongst women].

But she, [seeing] [the angel], wasG1510 troubled at his wordG3056, and reasonedG1260 in her mind what this salutation might beG1510.

And the angelG32 saidG3004 to her, FearG5399 not, MaryG3137, for thou hast foundG2147 favour with 6GodG2316;

and beholdG2400, thou shalt conceive in the wombG1064 and bearG5088 a sonG5207, and thou shalt callG2564 his nameG3686 JesusG2424.

He shall beG1510 greatG3173, and shall beG1510 calledG2564 SonG5207 of [the] HighestG5310; and [the] LordG2962 7GodG2316 shall giveG1325 him the throneG2362 of DavidG1138 his fatherG3962;
