Isaiah 7

1And it came to pass in the daysH3117 of AhazH271 the sonH1121 of JothamH3147, the sonH1121 of UzziahH5818, kingH4428 of JudahH3063, that RezinH7526 the kingH4428 of Syria, and PekahH6492 the sonH1121 of RemaliahH7425, kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, wentH5927 up to JerusalemH3389 to warH4421 against it, but could not prevailH3201 against it. 2And it was toldH5046 the houseH1004 of DavidH1732, sayingH559, Syria is confederate with EphraimH669. And his heartH3824 trembled, and the heartH3824 of his peopleH5971, as the treesH6086 of the forestH3293 tremble with the windH7307.

3Then saidH559 Jehovah unto IsaiahH3470, GoH3318 forthH3318 now to meet AhazH271, thou, and Shear-jashub thy sonH1121, at the endH7097 of the conduit of the upperH5945 poolH1295, in the highwayH4546 of the fuller’s fieldH7704; 4and sayH559 unto him, TakeH8104 heedH8104, and be quietH8252; fearH3372 not, neither let thy heartH3824 be faint, because of these twoH8147 tailsH2180 of smokingH6226 firebrands, for the fierce angerH639 of RezinH7526 and Syria, and of the sonH1121 of RemaliahH7425. 5Because Syria, EphraimH669, and the sonH1121 of RemaliahH7425, have purposed evilH7451 against thee, sayingH559, 6Let us goH5927 up against JudahH3063, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set up a kingH4428 in the midstH8432 of it, even the sonH1121 of TabeelH2870; 7thusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah, It shall not standH6965, neither shall it come to pass. 8For the headH7218 of Syria is DamascusH1834, and the headH7218 of DamascusH1834 is RezinH7526; and within threescore and fiveH2568 yearsH8141 shall EphraimH669 be broken in pieces, so that it shall not be a peopleH5971: 9and the headH7218 of EphraimH669 is SamariaH8111, and the headH7218 of SamariaH8111 is Remaliah’s sonH1121. If ye will not believeH539, surely ye shall not be establishedH539.

10And Jehovah spake again unto AhazH271, sayingH559, 11AskH7592 thee a signH226 of Jehovah thy GodH430; askH7592 it either in the depth, or in the height above. 12But AhazH271 saidH559, I will not askH7592, neither will I tempt Jehovah. 13And he saidH559, HearH8085 ye now, O houseH1004 of DavidH1732: Is it a smallH4592 thing for you to wearyH3811 menH376, that ye will wearyH3811 my GodH430 alsoH1571? 14ThereforeH3651 the LordH136 himself will giveH5414 you a signH226: behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bearH3205 a sonH1121, and shall callH7121 his nameH8034 Immanuel. 15Butter and honeyH1706 shall he eatH398, when he knoweth to refuse the evilH7451, and chooseH977 the goodH2896. 16For before the child shall knowH3045 to refuse the evilH7451, and chooseH977 the goodH2896, the landH127 whose twoH8147 kingsH4428 thou abhorrest shall be forsaken. 17Jehovah will bringH935 upon thee, and upon thy peopleH5971, and upon thy father’sH1 houseH1004, daysH3117 that have not comeH935, from the dayH3117 that EphraimH669 departedH5493 from JudahH3063—even the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804.

18And it shall come to pass in that dayH3117, that Jehovah will hissH8319 for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the riversH2975 of EgyptH4714, and for the beeH1682 that is in the landH776 of AssyriaH804. 19And they shall comeH935, and shall restH5117 all of them in the desolate valleys, and in the cleftsH5357 of the rocksH5553, and upon all thorn-hedges, and upon all pastures.

20In that dayH3117 will the LordH136 shaveH1548 with a razorH8593 that is hired in the parts beyond the RiverH5104, even with the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, the headH7218 and the hairH8181 of the feetH7272; and it shall alsoH1571 consume the beardH2206.

21And it shall come to pass in that dayH3117, that a manH376 shall keep aliveH2421 a young cow, and twoH8147 sheepH6629; 22and it shall come to pass, that because of the abundanceH7230 of milkH2461 which they shall give he shall eatH398 butter: for butter and honeyH1706 shall every one eatH398 that is leftH3498 in the midstH7130 of the landH776.

23And it shall come to pass in that dayH3117, that every placeH4725, whereH834 there were a thousandH505 vinesH1612 at a thousandH505 silverlings, shall beH1961 for briers and thorns. 24With arrowsH2678 and with bowH7198 shall one comeH935 thither, because all the landH776 shall beH1961 briers and thorns. 25And all the hillsH2022 that were digged with the mattock, thou shalt not comeH935 thither for fearH3374 of briers and thorns; but it shall beH1961 for the sendingH4916 forth of oxen, and for the treading of sheepH7716.
