Isaiah 53
Revised Version 1895
1Who hath believedH539 our reportH8052? and to whomH4310 hath the armH2220 of the LORDH3068 been revealedH1540? 2For he grewH5927 upH5927 beforeH6440 him as a tenderH3126 plant, and as a rootH8328 outH6440 of a dryH6723 groundH776: he hath noH3808 formH8389 norH3808 comeliness; and when weH776 seeH7200 him, there is noH3808 beauty that weH776 should desireH2530 him. 3He was despisedH959, and rejected of menH376; a manH376 of sorrowsH4341, and acquaintedH3045 with griefH2483: and as one from whom menH376 hideH4564 their faceH6440 he was despisedH959, and we esteemedH2803 him notH3808. 4SurelyH403 he hath borneH5375 our griefsH2483, and carriedH5375 our sorrowsH4341: yet weH587 did esteemH2803 him strickenH5221, smittenH5221 of GodH430, and afflictedH5060. 5But he was woundedH2490 for our transgressionsH6588, he was bruised for our iniquitiesH5771: the chastisement of our peaceH7965 was uponH5921 him; and with his stripesH2250 we are healedH7495. 6AllH3605 weH3605 like sheepH6629 have goneH8582 astrayH8582; weH3605 have turnedH6437 everyH3605 one to his ownH376 wayH1870; and the LORDH3068 hath laid on him the iniquityH5771 of usH853 allH3605. 7He was oppressedH5065, yet he humbled himselfH1931 and openedH6605 notH3808 his mouthH6310; as a lambH7716 that is ledH2986 to the slaughterH2874, and as a sheepH7716 that beforeH6440 herH6031 shearersH1494 is dumb; yea, he openedH6605 notH3808 his mouthH6310. 8By oppressionH6115 and judgmentH4941 he was takenH3947 awayH3947; and as for his generationH1755, who among them consideredH7878 that he was cutH1504 offH1504 outH853 of the landH776 of the livingH2416? for the transgressionH6588 of my peopleH5971 was he stricken. 9And they madeH6213 his graveH6913 with the wickedH7563, and with the richH6223 in his deathH4194; althoughH3808 he had doneH6213 noH3808 violenceH2555, neitherH3808 was anyH5414 deceitH4820 in his month. 10Yet it pleasedH2654 the LORDH3068 to bruise him; he hath putH7760 him to grief: when thou shalt makeH7760 his soulH5315 an offering for sinH817, he shall seeH7200 his seedH2233, he shall prolongH748 his daysH3117, and the pleasureH2656 of the LORDH3068 shall prosperH6743 in his handH3027. 11He shall seeH7200 of the travail of his soulH5315, and shall be satisfiedH7646: by his knowledgeH1847 shall my righteousH6662 servantH5650 justifyH6663 manyH7227: and he shall bearH5445 their iniquitiesH5771. 12Therefore will I divideH2505 him a portion with the greatH7227, and he shall divideH2505 the spoilH7998 with the strongH6099; becauseH834 he pouredH6168 outH6168 his soulH5315 unto deathH4194, and was numberedH4487 with the transgressorsH6586: yet he bareH6168 the sinH2399 of manyH7227, and madeH6168 intercession for the transgressorsH6586.
