Isaiah 53
American Standard Version
1Who hath believedH539 our messageH8052? and to whom hath the armH2220 of Jehovah been revealedH1540? 2For he grew up before him as a tender plant, and as a rootH8328 out of a dryH6723 groundH776: he hath no formH8389 nor comeliness; and when we seeH7200 him, there is no beauty that we should desireH2530 him. 3He was despisedH959, and rejected of menH376; a manH376 of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as oneH376 from whom menH376 hide their faceH6440 he was despisedH959; and we esteemedH2803 him not.
4Surely he hath borneH5375 our griefs, and carriedH5375 our sorrows; yet we did esteemH2803 him strickenH5221, smitten of GodH430, and afflicted. 5But he was wounded for our transgressionsH6588, he was bruised for our iniquitiesH5771; the chastisement of our peaceH7965 was upon him; and with his stripes we are healedH7495. 6All we like sheepH6629 have goneH8582 astrayH8582; we have turnedH6437 every oneH376 to his own wayH1870; and Jehovah hath laid on him the iniquityH5771 of us all.
7He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he openedH6605 not his mouthH6310; as a lambH7716 that is led to the slaughterH2874, and as a sheepH7716 that before its shearersH1494 is dumb, so he openedH6605 not his mouthH6310. 8By oppression and judgmentH4941 he was takenH3947 awayH3947; and as for his generationH1755, who among them considered that he was cutH1504 off out of the landH776 of the living for the transgressionH6588 of my peopleH5971 to whom the stroke was due? 9And they madeH6213 his graveH6913 with the wickedH7563, and with a richH6223 man in his deathH4194; although he had done no violenceH2555, neither was any deceitH4820 in his mouthH6310.
10Yet it pleasedH2654 Jehovah to bruise him; he hath putH7760 him to grief: when thou shalt makeH7760 his soulH5315 an offeringH817 for sin, he shall seeH7200 his seedH2233, he shall prolongH748 his daysH3117, and the pleasureH2656 of Jehovah shall prosperH6743 in his handH3027. 11He shall seeH7200 of the travail of his soulH5315, and shall be satisfiedH7646: by the knowledgeH1847 of himself shall my righteousH6662 servantH5650 justifyH6663 manyH7227; and he shall bear their iniquitiesH5771. 12ThereforeH3651 will I divideH2505 him a portion with the greatH7227, and he shall divideH2505 the spoilH7998 with the strong; because he pouredH6168 out his soulH5315 unto deathH4194, and was numberedH4487 with the transgressorsH6586: yet he bareH6168 the sinH2399 of manyH7227, and made intercession for the transgressorsH6586.
