Isaiah 30:1-17
WoeH1945 to the rebelliousH5637 children, saith Jehovah, who take counselH6098, but not of me, and who makeH6213 leagues, but not by my SpiritH7307, that they may heap sinH2403 upon sinH2403;
who walkH1980 to goH1980 down into EgyptH4714, and have not askedH7592 of my mouthH6310, — to takeH2620 refugeH2620 under the protection of PharaohH6547, and trust in the shadowH6738 of EgyptH4714!
For to you the protection of PharaohH6547 shall beH1961 a shameH1322, and the trust in the shadowH6738 of EgyptH4714 a confusion.
For his princesH8269 wereH1961 at ZoanH6814, and his ambassadors came to Hanes.
They were all ashamed of a peopleH5971 [that] did not profitH3276 them, nor were a helpH5828 or profitH3276, but a shameH1322, and alsoH1571 a reproachH2781.
— The burdenH4853 of the beasts of the southH5045: Through a landH776 of troubleH6869 and anguish, whence come the lionessH3833 and lionH3918, the viperH660 and fiery flying serpent, they carryH5375 their riches upon the shouldersH3802 of asses, and their treasuresH214 upon the bunches of camelsH1581, to the peopleH5971 that shall not profitH3276 [them].
For EgyptH4714 shall helpH5826 in vain, and to no purpose; thereforeH3651 have I named her, Arrogance, that doeth nothing.
NowH6258 goH935, writeH3789 it before them on a tabletH3871, and recordH3789 it in a bookH5612, that it may beH1961 for the time to comeH935, as a witnessH5707 for everH5769,
that this is a rebelliousH4805 peopleH5971, lying children, children that will not hearH8085 the lawH8451 of Jehovah;
who sayH559 to the seersH2374, SeeH7200 not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things; speakH1696 unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits;
get you out of the wayH1870, turnH5493 asideH5493 out of the pathH734, cause the HolyH6918 OneH6918 of IsraelH3478 to ceaseH7673 from before us!
ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith the HolyH6918 OneH2088 of IsraelH3478: Because ye rejectH3988 this wordH1697, and confide in oppressionH6233 and wilfulness, and depend thereon,
thereforeH3651 this iniquityH5771 shall beH1961 to you as a breachH6556 ready to fallH5307, swelling out in a towering wallH2346, whose breaking shall comeH935 suddenlyH6597 in an instantH6621.
And he shall breakH7665 it as the breakingH7665 of a potter's vessel, that is brokenH7665 in pieces unsparingly; and in the pieces of it there shall not be foundH4672 a sherd to take fireH784 from the hearth, or to scoop waterH4325 out of the cistern.
For thusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah, the HolyH6918 OneH6918 of IsraelH3478: In returning and rest shall ye beH1961 savedH3467, in quietnessH8252 and confidence shall beH1961 your strengthH1369; but ye wouldH14 not.
And ye saidH559, No, but we will fleeH5127 upon horsesH5483, — thereforeH3651 shall ye fleeH5127; and, We will rideH7392 upon the swiftH7031, — thereforeH3651 shall they that pursueH7291 you be swiftH7031.
OneH259 thousandH505 [shall fleeH5127] at the rebukeH1606 of oneH259; at the rebukeH1606 of fiveH2568 shall ye fleeH5127: till ye be leftH3498 as a beacon upon the topH7218 of a mountainH2022, and as a banner on a hillH2022.
