Isaiah 17
American Standard Version
1The burdenH4853 of DamascusH1834.
Behold, DamascusH1834 is taken awayH5493 from being a cityH5892, and it shall beH1961 a ruinous heap. 2The citiesH5892 of AroerH6177 are forsaken; they shall beH1961 for flocksH5739, which shall lieH7257 down, and none shall make them afraid. 3And the fortressH4013 shall ceaseH7673 from EphraimH669, and the kingdomH4467 from DamascusH1834, and the remnantH7605 of Syria; they shall beH1961 as the gloryH3519 of the children of IsraelH3478, saith Jehovah of hostsH6635.
4And it shall come to pass in that dayH3117, that the gloryH3519 of JacobH3290 shall beH1961 made thin, and the fatness of his fleshH1320 shall wax leanH7329. 5And it shall beH1961 as when the harvestman gathereth the standingH7054 grainH7054, and his armH2220 reapeth the earsH7641; yea, it shall beH1961 as when one gleaneth earsH7641 in the valleyH6010 of RephaimH7497. 6Yet there shall be leftH7604 therein gleaningsH5955, as the shaking of an olive-tree, twoH8147 or threeH7969 berries in the topH7218 of the uppermost bough, fourH702 or fiveH2568 in the outmost branchesH5585 of a fruitfulH6509 treeH2132, saith Jehovah, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478. 7In that dayH3117 shall menH120 lookH7200 unto their Maker, and their eyesH5869 shall have respect to the HolyH6918 OneH6918 of IsraelH3478. 8And they shall not lookH7200 to the altarsH4196, the workH4639 of their handsH3027; neither shall they have respect to that which their fingersH676 have madeH6213, either the Asherim, or the sun-images. 9In that dayH3117 shall their strong citiesH5892 beH1961 as the forsaken places in the wood and on the mountain top, which were forsaken from before the children of IsraelH3478; and it shall beH1961 a desolationH8077. 10For thou hast forgottenH7911 the GodH430 of thy salvationH3468, and hast not been mindful of the rockH6697 of thy strength; thereforeH3651 thou plantest pleasant plantsH5193, and settest it with strangeH2114 slips. 11In the dayH3117 of thy planting thou hedgest it in, and in the morningH1242 thou makest thy seedH2233 to blossom; but the harvestH7105 fleeth away in the dayH3117 of grief and of desperate sorrow.
12Ah, the uproarH1993 of manyH7227 peoplesH5971, that roarH1993 like the roaring of the seasH3220; and the rushing of nations, that rush like the rushing of mightyH3524 watersH4325! 13The nationsH3816 shall rush like the rushing of manyH7227 watersH4325: but he shall rebukeH1605 them, and they shall fleeH5127 far off, and shall be chased as the chaffH4671 of the mountainsH2022 before the windH7307, and like the whirlingH1534 dustH1534 before the storm. 14At eventide, behold, terrorH1091; and before the morningH1242 they are not. This is the portionH2506 of them that despoil us, and the lotH1486 of them that rob us.
