Genesis 38:18-25
And he saidH559, What pledgeH6162 shall I giveH5414 thee? And she saidH559, Thy signet, and thy lace, and thy staffH4294 which is in thy handH3027. And he gaveH5414 [it] her, and wentH935 in to her; and she conceivedH2029 by him.
And she aroseH6965 and went awayH5493; and she laid by her veilH6809 from her, and putH3847 on the garmentsH899 of her widowhoodH491.
And JudahH3063 sentH7971 the kid of the goatsH5795 by the handH3027 of his friendH7453 the AdullamiteH5726, to receiveH3947 the pledgeH6162 from the woman's handH3027; but he foundH4672 her not.
And he askedH7592 the menH376 of her placeH4725, sayingH559, WhereH346 is the prostitute that wasH1961 at Enaim, by the way-side? And they saidH559, There wasH1961 no prostitute hereH2088.
And he returnedH7725 to JudahH3063, and saidH559, I have not foundH4672 her; and alsoH1571 the menH376 of the placeH4725 saidH559, No prostitute has beenH1961 hereH2088.
Then JudahH3063 saidH559, Let her takeH3947 [it] for herself, lestH6435 we beH1961 put to shame. Behold, I sentH7971 this kid, and thou hast not foundH4672 her.
And it came to pass about threeH7969 monthsH2320 after, that it wasH1961 toldH5046 JudahH3063, sayingH559, TamarH8559 thy daughter-in-law has committed fornication, and behold, she is alsoH1571 with child by fornication. And JudahH3063 saidH559, BringH3318 her forthH3318, that she may beH1961 burnedH8313.
WhenH834 she was broughtH3318 forthH3318, she sentH7971 to her father-in-law, sayingH559, By the manH376 to whom these [belong] am I with child; and she saidH559, AcknowledgeH5234, I pray thee, whose are this signet, and this lace, and this staffH4294.
