Acts 7

1And the highG749 priestG749 saidG3004, Are these thingsG3778 soG3779? 2And he saidG5346,

Brethren and fathersG3962, hearken: The GodG2316 of gloryG1391 appeared unto our fatherG3962 AbrahamG11, when he wasG1510 in MesopotamiaG3318, before he dwelt in HaranG5488, 3and saidG3004 unto him, Get thee out of thy landG1093, and from thy kindred, and comeG1831 into the landG1093 which I shall showG1166 thee. 4ThenG5119 cameG1831 he out of the landG1093 of the Chaldæans, and dwelt in HaranG5488: and from thence, when his fatherG3962 was deadG599, God removed him into this landG1093, wherein ye nowG3568 dwellG2730: 5and he gaveG1325 him none inheritanceG2817 in it, no, not so much as to set his footG4228 on: and he promisedG1861 that he would giveG1325 it to him in possessionG2697, and to his seedG4690 after him, when as yet he had no childG5043. 6And GodG2316 spake on this wise, that his seedG4690 should sojourn in a strange landG1093, and that they should bring them into bondageG1402, and treat them ill, fourG5071 hundredG5071 yearsG2094. 7And the nationG1484 to which they shall be in bondage will I judgeG2919, saidG3004 GodG2316: and after that shall they comeG1831 forthG1831, and serveG1398 me in this placeG5117. 8And he gaveG1325 him the covenantG1242 of circumcisionG4061: and so Abraham begat IsaacG2464, and circumcised him the eighthG3590 dayG2250; and IsaacG2464 begat JacobG2384, and JacobG2384 the twelveG1427 patriarchsG3966. 9And the patriarchsG3966, moved with jealousy against JosephG2501, sold him into EgyptG125: and GodG2316 wasG1510 with him, 10and delivered him out of all his afflictionsG2347, and gaveG1325 him favorG5485 and wisdomG4678 before PharaohG5328 kingG935 of EgyptG125; and he made him governor over EgyptG125 and all his houseG3624. 11NowG1161 there cameG2064 a famineG3042 over all EgyptG125 and CanaanG5477, and greatG3173 afflictionG2347: and our fathersG3962 foundG2147 no sustenance. 12But when JacobG2384 heardG191 that there wasG1510 grainG4621 in EgyptG125, he sent forthG1821 our fathersG3962 the firstG4413 time. 13And at the secondG1208 timeG1208 JosephG2501 was made known to his brethren; and Joseph’s raceG1085 becameG1096 manifest unto PharaohG5328. 14And JosephG2501 sentG649, and calledG3333 to him JacobG2384 his fatherG3962, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen soulsG5590. 15And JacobG2384 wentG2597 downG2597 into EgyptG125; and he died, himself and our fathersG3962; 16and they were carried over unto ShechemG4966, and laidG5087 in the tombG3418 that AbrahamG11 bought for a priceG5092 in silverG694 of the sonsG5207 of Hamor in ShechemG4966. 17But as the timeG5550 of the promiseG1860 drew nigh which GodG2316 vouchsafed unto AbrahamG11, the peopleG2992 grewG837 and multipliedG4129 in EgyptG125, 18till there aroseG450 another kingG935 over EgyptG125, who knew not JosephG2501. 19The sameG846 dealt craftily with our raceG1085, and ill-treated our fathersG3962, that they should cast out their babes to the end they might not live. 20At which seasonG2540 MosesG3475 wasG1510 bornG1080, and wasG1510 exceeding fair; and he wasG1510 nourished threeG5140 monthsG3376 in his father’sG3962 houseG3624: 21and when he was cast out, Pharaoh’s daughterG2364 took him up, and nourished him for her ownG1438 sonG5207. 22And MosesG3475 wasG1510 instructed in all the wisdomG4678 of the EgyptiansG124; and he wasG1510 mightyG1415 in his wordsG3056 and worksG2041. 23But whenG5613 he was well-nigh fortyG5063 years old, it cameG305 into his heartG2588 to visitG1980 his brethren the children of IsraelG2474. 24And seeingG3708 oneG5100 of them suffer wrongG91, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, smiting the EgyptianG124: 25and he supposed that his brethren understoodG4920 that GodG2316 by his handG5495 was givingG1325 them deliverance; but they understoodG4920 not. 26And the dayG2250 following he appeared unto them as they strove, and would have set them at oneG240 again, sayingG3004, Sirs, ye areG1510 brethren; why do ye wrongG91 oneG240 to another? 27But he that did his neighbor wrongG91 thrust him awayG683, sayingG3004, Who made thee a rulerG758 and a judgeG1348 over us? 28Wouldest thou kill me, as thou killedst the EgyptianG124 yesterdayG5504? 29And MosesG3475 fledG5343 at this sayingG3056, and becameG1096 a sojourner in the landG1093 of Midian, whereG3757 he begat twoG1417 sonsG5207. 30And when fortyG5062 yearsG2094 were fulfilled, an angelG32 appeared to him in the wildernessG2048 of mountG3735 SinaiG4614, in a flameG5395 of fireG4442 in a bushG942. 31And when MosesG3475 sawG3708 it, he wonderedG2296 at the sight: and as he drew near to behold, there cameG4334 a voiceG5456 of the LordG2962, 32I am the GodG2316 of thy fathersG3962, the GodG2316 of AbrahamG11, and of IsaacG2464, and of JacobG2384. And MosesG3475 trembled, and durst not behold. 33And the LordG2962 saidG3004 unto him, LooseG3089 the shoes from thy feetG4228: for the placeG5117 whereon thou standest isG1510 holyG40 groundG1093. 34I have surely seenG3708 the affliction of my peopleG2992 that is in EgyptG125, and have heardG191 their groaning, and I am comeG1204 down to deliver them: and nowG3568 comeG1204, I will sendG649 thee into EgyptG125. 35This MosesG3475 whom they refused, sayingG3004, Who made thee a rulerG758 and a judgeG1348? him hath GodG2316 sentG649 to be both a rulerG758 and a deliverer with the handG5495 of the angelG32 that appeared to him in the bushG942. 36This manG3778 led them forth, having wrought wondersG5059 and signsG4592 in EgyptG125, and in the RedG2063 seaG2281, and in the wildernessG2048 fortyG5062 yearsG2094. 37This isG1510 that MosesG3475, who saidG3004 unto the children of IsraelG2474, A prophetG4396 shall GodG2316 raiseG450 up unto you from among your brethren, like unto me. 38This isG1510 he that wasG1510 in the churchG1577 in the wildernessG2048 with the angelG32 that spake to him in the mountG3735 SinaiG4614, and with our fathersG3962: who receivedG1209 livingG2198 oracles to giveG1325 unto us: 39to whom our fathersG3962 would not be obedientG5255, but thrust him from them, and turnedG4762 back in their heartsG2588 unto EgyptG125, 40sayingG3004 unto AaronG2, MakeG4160 us godsG2316 that shall goG4313 before us: for as for this MosesG3475, who led us forth out of the landG1093 of EgyptG125, we know not what is becomeG1096 of him. 41And they made a calf in those daysG2250, and broughtG321 a sacrificeG2378 unto the idolG1497, and rejoiced in the worksG2041 of their handsG5495. 42But GodG2316 turnedG4762, and gave them up to serveG3000 the hostG4756 of heavenG3772; as it is writtenG1125 in the bookG976 of the prophetsG4396,

Did ye offerG4374 unto me slain beasts and sacrificesG2378FortyG5062 yearsG2094 in the wildernessG2048, O houseG3624 of IsraelG2474?43And ye tookG353 up the tabernacleG4633 of Moloch,And the starG798 of the godG2316 Rephan,The figures which ye madeG4160 to worshipG4352 them:And I will carry you away beyond BabylonG897.

44Our fathersG3962 had the tabernacleG4633 of the testimonyG3142 in the wildernessG2048, even as he appointed who spake unto MosesG3475, that he should makeG4160 it accordingG2596 to the figure that he had seenG3708. 45Which alsoG2532 our fathersG3962, in their turn, broughtG1521 in with Joshua when they entered on the possessionG2697 of the nationsG1484, that GodG2316 thrust out before the faceG4383 of our fathersG3962, unto the daysG2250 of DavidG1138; 46who foundG2147 favorG5485 in the sight of GodG2316, and askedG154 to findG2147 a habitation for the GodG2316 of JacobG2384. 47But SolomonG4672 builtG3618 him a houseG3624. 48Howbeit the MostG5310 HighG5310 dwelleth not in houses made with handsG5499; as saith the prophetG4396,

49The heavenG3772 is my throneG2362,And the earthG1093 the footstoolG5286 of my feetG4228:What manner of houseG3624 will ye buildG3618 me? saith the LordG2962:Or what is the placeG5117 of my restG2663?50Did not my handG5495 makeG4160 all these thingsG3778?

51Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heartG2588 and earsG3775, ye do alwaysG104 resist the HolyG40 SpiritG4151: as your fathersG3962 did, so do ye. 52Which of the prophetsG4396 did not your fathersG3962 persecuteG1377? and they killedG615 them that showed before of the coming of the RighteousG1342 OneG3739; of whom ye have nowG3568 becomeG1096 betrayers and murderersG5406; 53ye who receivedG2983 the lawG3551 as it was ordained by angelsG32, and keptG5442 it not.

54NowG1161 when they heardG191 these thingsG3778, they were cutG1282 to the heartG2588, and they gnashed on him with their teethG3599. 55But he, being fullG4134 of the HolyG40 SpiritG4151, looked up stedfastly into heavenG3772, and sawG3708 the gloryG1391 of GodG2316, and JesusG2424 standingG2476 on the rightG1188 handG1188 of GodG2316, 56and saidG3004, BeholdG2400, I seeG3708 the heavensG3772 openedG1272, and the SonG5207 of manG444 standingG2476 on the rightG1188 handG1188 of GodG2316. 57But they criedG2896 out with a loudG3173 voiceG5456, and stopped their earsG3775, and rushedG3729 upon him with oneG3661 accordG3661; 58and they castG1544 him out of the cityG4172, and stoned him: and the witnessesG3144 laid down their garmentsG2440 at the feetG4228 of a youngG3494 manG3494 named SaulG4569. 59And they stoned StephenG4736, calling upon the LordG2962, and sayingG3004, LordG2962 JesusG2424, receiveG1209 my spiritG4151. 60And he kneeled downG5087, and criedG2896 with a loudG3173 voiceG5456, LordG2962, lay not this sinG266 to their charge. And when he had saidG3004 this, he fell asleepG2837.
