Acts 20
American Standard Version
1And after the uproarG2351 ceasedG3973, PaulG3972 having sentG3343 for the disciplesG3101 and exhortedG3870 them, took leave of them, and departedG1831 to goG4198 into MacedoniaG3109. 2And when he had goneG1330 through those partsG3313, and had given them muchG4183 exhortation, he cameG2064 into Greece. 3And whenG1096 he had spent threeG5140 monthsG3376 there, and a plotG1917 was laid against him by the JewsG2453 as he was about to setG321 sailG321 for SyriaG4947, he determined to returnG5290 through MacedoniaG3109. 4And there accompanied him as far as Asia, Sopater of Beroea, the son of Pyrrhus; and of the ThessaloniansG2331, AristarchusG708 and Secundus; and GaiusG1050 of Derbe, and TimothyG5095; and of Asia, TychicusG5190 and TrophimusG5161. 5But these had goneG4281 before, and were waiting for us at TroasG5174. 6And we sailedG1602 awayG575 from PhilippiG5375 after the daysG2250 of unleavenedG106 bread, and cameG2064 unto them to TroasG5174 in fiveG4002 daysG2250; whereG3699 we tarried sevenG2033 daysG2250.
7And upon the firstG1520 dayG1887 of the weekG4521, when we were gatheredG4863 togetherG4863 to breakG2806 breadG740, PaulG3972 discoursed with them, intending to depart on the morrow; and prolonged his speechG3056 until midnightG3317. 8And there wereG1510 manyG2425 lights in the upperG5253 chamber whereG3757 we wereG1510 gatheredG4863 togetherG4863. 9And there sat in the windowG2376 a certainG5100 youngG3494 man namedG3686 Eutychus, borne downG4098 with deepG901 sleepG5258; and as PaulG3972 discoursed yet longer, being borne downG4098 by his sleepG5258 he fellG4098 downG4098 from the third story, and was takenG142 up deadG3498. 10And PaulG3972 wentG2597 downG2597, and fell on him, and embracing him saidG3004, Make ye no ado; for his lifeG5590 isG1510 in him. 11And when he was goneG1831 up, and had brokenG2806 the breadG740, and eatenG1089, and had talkedG3656 with them a longG2425 while, evenG2532 till breakG2806 of day, so he departedG1831. 12And they broughtG71 the lad aliveG2198, and were not a little comfortedG3870.
13But we, going before to the shipG4143, setG321 sailG321 for AssosG789, there intending to takeG353 in PaulG3972: for soG3779 had he appointed, intending himself to goG4281 by land. 14And whenG5613 he met us at AssosG789, we tookG353 him in, and cameG2064 to Mitylene. 15And sailingG636 from thence, we cameG2064 the following day over against Chios; and the nextG2087 day we touched at Samos; and the day after we cameG2064 to MiletusG3399. 16For PaulG3972 had determined to sail past EphesusG2181, that he might not have to spend time in AsiaG773; for he wasG1510 hastening, if it wereG1510 possibleG1415 for him, to beG1510 at JerusalemG2419 the dayG2250 of PentecostG4005.
17And from MiletusG3399 he sentG3992 to EphesusG2181, and calledG3333 to him the eldersG4245 of the churchG1577. 18And whenG5613 they were comeG1096 to him, he saidG3004 unto them,
Ye yourselves knowG1987, from the firstG4413 dayG2250 that I set foot in AsiaG773, after what manner I was with you all the timeG5550, 19servingG1398 the LordG2962 with all lowliness of mind, and with tearsG1144, and with trialsG3986 which befell me by the plotsG1917 of the JewsG2453; 20howG5613 I shrank not from declaringG312 unto you anything that was profitableG4851, and teachingG1321 you publiclyG1219, and from houseG3624 to houseG3624, 21testifyingG1263 both to JewsG2453 and to GreeksG1672 repentanceG3341 toward GodG2316, and faithG4102 toward our LordG2962 JesusG2424 ChristG5547. 22And nowG3568, beholdG2400, I goG4198 boundG1210 in the spiritG4151 unto JerusalemG2419, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: 23save that the HolyG40 SpiritG4151 testifieth unto me in every cityG4172, sayingG3004 that bonds and afflictionsG2347 abideG3306 me. 24But I hold not my lifeG5590 of any accountG3056 as dear unto myself, so that I may accomplish my courseG1408, and the ministryG1248 which I receivedG2983 from the LordG2962 JesusG2424, to testifyG1263 the gospelG2098 of the graceG5485 of GodG2316. 25And nowG3568, beholdG2400, I know that ye all, among whom I wentG1330 about preachingG2784 the kingdomG932, shall seeG3708 my faceG4383 no more. 26Wherefore I testifyG3143 unto you this dayG2250, that I amG1510 pureG2513 from the bloodG129 of all men. 27For I shrank not from declaringG312 unto you the whole counselG1012 of GodG2316. 28TakeG4337 heed unto yourselves, and to all the flockG4168, in which the HolyG40 SpiritG4151 hath made you bishops, to feed the churchG1577 of the LordG2962 which he purchased with his ownG2398 bloodG129. 29I know that after my departing grievous wolvesG3074 shall enterG1525 in among you, not sparingG5339 the flockG4168; 30and from among your ownG1438 selves shall menG435 ariseG450, speakingG2980 perverse things, to draw away the disciplesG3101 after them. 31Wherefore watchG1127 ye, rememberingG3421 that by the space of three years I ceasedG3973 not to admonishG3560 every oneG1520 nightG3571 and dayG2250 with tearsG1144. 32And nowG3568 I commend you to GodG2316, and to the wordG3056 of his graceG5485, which is ableG1410 to buildG3618 you up, and to giveG1325 you the inheritanceG2817 among all them that are sanctifiedG37. 33I covetedG1937 no man’s silverG694, or goldG5553, or apparel. 34Ye yourselves knowG1097 that these handsG5495 ministered unto my necessities, and to them that wereG1510 with me. 35In all thingsG3956 I gaveG1325 you an example, that soG3779 laboring ye oughtG1163 to helpG482 the weakG770, and to rememberG3421 the wordsG3056 of the LordG2962 JesusG2424, that he himself saidG3004, It isG1510 moreG3123 blessed to giveG1325 than to receiveG2983.
36And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled downG5087 and prayedG4336 with them all. 37And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul’s neckG5137 and kissed him, 38sorrowing most of all for the wordG3056 which he had spoken, that they should behold his faceG4383 no more. And they brought him on his way unto the shipG4143.
