Mark 9:2-50

21And sixG1803 daysG2250 laterG3326 JesusG2424 tookG3880 with Him 2PeterG4074, 3JamesG2385, and JohnG2491, and broughtG399 them upG399 on a highG5308 mountainG3735 by themselvesG2398G3441. And He was 4transfiguredG3339 beforeG1715 them; 3and 5His garmentsG2440 becameG1096 radiantG4744 and exceedinglyG3029 whiteG3022, as noG3756 laundererG1102 on earthG1093 canG1410 whitenG3021 them. 4And ElijahG2243 appearedG3708 to them alongG4862 with MosesG3475; and they were talkingG4814 with JesusG2424. 5PeterG4074 respondedG611 and saidG3004 to JesusG2424, “6RabbiG4461, it is goodG2570 that we are hereG5602; 7let’s makeG4160 threeG5140 8tabernaclesG4633, oneG1520 for You, oneG1520 for MosesG3475, and oneG1520 for ElijahG2243.” 6For he did not knowG3609 howG5101 to replyG611; for they becameG1096 terrifiedG1630. 7ThenG2532 a cloudG3507 9formedG1096, overshadowingG1982 them, and 10a voiceG5456 11cameG1096 out of the cloudG3507: “12ThisG3778 is My belovedG27 SonG5207; 13listenG191 to Him!” 8And suddenlyG1819 they lookedG4017 aroundG4017 and sawG3708 noG3762 oneG3762 with them anymoreG3765, exceptG1508 JesusG2424 aloneG3441.

914As they were comingG2597 downG2597 from the mountainG3735, He 15gaveG1291 them ordersG1291 not to relateG1334 to anyoneG3367 whatG3739 they had seenG3708, 16untilG1487G3361G3752 the SonG5207 of ManG444 roseG450 from the deadG3498. 10They 17seizedG2902 upon 18that statementG3056, discussingG4802 with oneG1438 anotherG1438 19whatG5101 risingG450 from the deadG3498 meantG1510. 11And they askedG1905 Him, sayingG3004, “Why is it that the scribesG1122 sayG3004 that 20ElijahG2243 mustG1163 comeG2064 firstG4413?” 12And He saidG5346 to them, “ElijahG2243 does comeG2064 firstG4413 and he restoresG600 allG3956 thingsG3956. And yet howG4459 is it writtenG1125 of 21the SonG5207 of ManG444 that 22He will sufferG3958 manyG4183 thingsG4183 and be treatedG1847 withG1847 contemptG1847? 13But I sayG3004 to you that ElijahG2243 has 23indeedG2532 comeG2064, and they didG4160 to him whateverG3745 they wantedG2309, justG2531 asG2531 it is writtenG1125 of him.”

1424And when they cameG2064 back to the other disciplesG3101, they sawG3708 a largeG4183 crowdG3793 aroundG4012 them, and some scribesG1122 arguingG4802 with them. 15ImmediatelyG2117, when the entireG3956 crowdG3793 sawG3708 Him, they were 25amazedG1568 and began runningG4370 upG4370 to greetG782 Him. 16And He askedG1905 them, “WhatG5101 are you disputingG4802 with them?” 17And oneG1520 person from the crowdG3793 answeredG611 Him, “TeacherG1320, I broughtG5342 You my sonG5207, because he hasG2192 a spiritG4151 that makes him unableG216 toG216 speakG216; 18and 26wheneverG3699 it seizesG2638 him, it slamsG4486 him toG4486 theG4486 groundG4486, and he foamsG875 at the mouth and grindsG5149 his teethG3599 and becomes stiffG3583. And I toldG3004 Your disciplesG3101 soG2443 thatG2443 they would castG1544 it outG1544, but they couldG2480 not do it.” 19And He answeredG611 them and saidG3004, “OG5599 unbelievingG571 generationG1074, howG2193 longG2193G4219 shall I be with you? HowG2193 longG2193G4219 shall I putG430 upG430 with you? BringG5342 him to Me!” 20And they broughtG5342 27the boy to Him. WhenG2532 he sawG3708 Him, the spiritG4151 immediatelyG2117 threwG4952 him intoG4952 convulsionsG4952, and fallingG4098 to the groundG1093, he began rollingG2947 aroundG2947 and foamingG875 at the mouth. 21And He askedG1905 his fatherG3962, “HowG4214 longG5550 has thisG3778 beenG1510 happeningG1096 to him?” And he saidG3004, “From childhoodG3812. 22It has oftenG4178 thrownG906 him bothG2532 into the fireG4442 and into the waterG5204 to killG622 him. But ifG1487 You canG1410 do anythingG5100, takeG4697 pityG4697 on us and helpG997 us!” 23But JesusG2424 saidG3004 to him, “‘IfG1487 You canG1410?’ 28AllG3956 thingsG3956 are possibleG1415 for the one who believesG4100.” 24ImmediatelyG2117 the boy’sG3813 fatherG3962 criedG2896 outG2896 and saidG3004, “I do believeG4100; helpG997 my unbeliefG570!” 25When JesusG2424 sawG3708 that 29a crowdG3793 was 30rapidlyG1998 gatheringG1998, He rebukedG2008 the uncleanG169 spiritG4151, sayingG3004 to it, “You muteG216 and deafG2974 spiritG4151, I 31commandG2004 you, comeG1831 outG1831 of him and do not enterG1525 him 32againG3371!” 26And after cryingG2896 outG2896 and throwingG4682 him intoG4682 terribleG4183 convulsionsG4682, it cameG1831 outG1831; and the boy becameG1096 soG5620 muchG5620 likeG5616 a corpseG3498 thatG5620 mostG4183 of them saidG3004, “He is deadG599!” 27But JesusG2424 tookG2902 him by the handG5495 and raisedG1453 him, and he gotG450 upG450. 28When He cameG1525 33into the houseG3624, His disciplesG3101 began askingG1905 Him privatelyG2596G2398, “Why is it that we couldG1410 not castG1544 it outG1544?” 29And He saidG3004 to them, “ThisG3778 kindG1085 cannotG1410G3762 comeG1831 outG1831 by anythingG3762 exceptG1487G3361 prayerG4335.”

3034And fromG2547 thereG2547 they wentG1831 outG1831 and began to goG3899 throughG1223 GalileeG1056, and He did not wantG2309 anyoneG5100 to knowG1097 about it. 31For He was teachingG1321 His disciplesG3101 and tellingG3004 them, “35The SonG5207 of ManG444 is to be 36handedG3860G5495 overG3860 to menG444, and they will killG615 Him; and when He has been killedG615, He will riseG450 threeG5140 daysG2250 laterG3326.” 32But 37they 38did not understandG50 this statementG4487, and they wereG5399 afraidG5399 to askG1905 Him.

3339They cameG2064 to CapernaumG2746; and when He was in 40the houseG3614, He began to questionG1905 them: “WhatG5101 were you discussingG1260 on the wayG3598?” 34But they keptG4623 silentG4623, for on the wayG3598 41they had discussedG1256 with oneG240 anotherG240 whichG5101 of them was the greatestG3173. 35And sittingG2523 downG2523, He calledG5455 the twelveG1427 and saidG3004 to them, “42IfG1487 anyoneG5100 wantsG2309 to be firstG4413, he shall be lastG2078 of allG3956 and servantG1249 of allG3956.” 36And He tookG2983 a childG3813 and placedG2476 him amongG1722G3319 them, and takingG1723 him inG1723 His armsG1723, He saidG3004 to them, 37“43WhoeverG3739G302 44receivesG1209 45oneG1520 childG3813 likeG5108 thisG5108 in My nameG3686 46receivesG1209 Me; and whoeverG3739G302 47receivesG1209 Me does not 48receiveG1209 Me, but Him who sentG649 Me.”

3849JohnG2491 saidG5346 to Him, “TeacherG1320, we sawG3708 someoneG5100 castingG1544 outG1544 demonsG1140 in Your nameG3686, and 50we tried to preventG2967 him becauseG3754 he was not followingG190 us.” 39But JesusG2424 saidG3004, “Do not hinderG2967 him, for there is noG3762 oneG3762 whoG3739 will performG4160 a miracleG1411 in My nameG3686, and be ableG1410 soonG5035 afterward to speakG2551 evilG2551 ofG2551 Me. 4051For the one whoG3739 is not againstG2596 us is 52for us. 41For 53whoeverG3739G302 givesG4222 you a cupG4221 of waterG5204 toG4222 drinkG4222 54becauseG3754 of your nameG3686 as followers of ChristG5547, trulyG281 I sayG3004 to you, he shall by noG3364 meansG3364 loseG622 his rewardG3408.

42“55WhoeverG3739 causesG4624 oneG1520 of theseG3778 56littleG3398 onesG3398 who believeG4100 in Me toG4624 57sinG4624, it is betterG2570G3123 for him ifG1487 a heavyG3684 millstoneG3458 is hungG4029 aroundG4012 his neckG5137 and he 58is thrownG906 into the seaG2281. 43And 59ifG1437 your handG5495 causesG4624 you toG4624 sinG4624, cutG609 it offG609; it is betterG2570 for you to enterG1525 lifeG2222 maimedG2948, thanG2228, havingG2192 your twoG1417 handsG5495, to goG565 into 6061hellG1067, into the 62unquenchableG762 fireG4442.63 45And ifG1437 your footG4228 is causingG4624 you toG4624 sinG4624, cutG609 it offG609; it is betterG2570 for you to enterG1525 lifeG2222 withoutG5560 aG5560 footG5560, thanG2228, havingG2192 your twoG1417 feetG4228, to be thrownG906 into 6465hellG1067.66 47And 67ifG1437 your eyeG3788 is causingG4624 you toG4624 sinG4624, throwG1544 it awayG1544; it is betterG2570 for you to enterG1525 the kingdomG932 of GodG2316 with oneG3442 eyeG3442, thanG2228, havingG2192 twoG1417 eyesG3788, to be thrownG1544 into 6869hellG1067, 4870whereG3699 their wormG4663 does not dieG5053, and 71the fireG4442 is not extinguishedG4570. 49For everyoneG3956 will be saltedG233 with fireG4442. 50SaltG217 is goodG2570; but 72ifG1437 the saltG217 becomesG1096 unsaltyG358, with whatG5101 will you 73makeG741 it saltyG741 again? 74HaveG2192 saltG217 in yourselvesG1438, and 75beG1514 atG1514 peaceG1514 with oneG240 anotherG240.”
