Mark 2
The Paralyzed Man Healed
1When Jesus cameG1525 backG3825 to CapernaumG2746 a fewG1223 daysG2250 laterG1223, it was heardG191 that He was at homeG3624. 2And 1manyG4183 were gatheredG4863 togetherG4863, soG5620 thatG5620 there wasG5562 noG3371 longerG3371 spaceG5562, not evenG3366 nearG4314 the doorG2374; and He was speakingG2980 the wordG3056 to them. 32And some people cameG2064, bringingG5342 to Him a manG3885 who was 3paralyzedG3885, carriedG142 by fourG5064 men. 4And when they were unableG3361G1410 to 4getG4374 to Him becauseG1223 of the crowdG3793, they 5removedG648 the roofG4721 6aboveG3699 Him; and after diggingG1846 anG1846 openingG1846, they letG5465 downG5465 the palletG2895 on whichG3699 the 7paralyzedG3885 manG3885 was lyingG2621. 5And JesusG2424, seeingG3708 their faithG4102, saidG3004 to the paralyzedG3885 manG3885, “SonG5043, 8your sinsG266 are forgivenG863.” 6But someG5100 of the scribesG1122 were sittingG2521 thereG1563 and thinkingG1260 it overG1260 in their heartsG2588, 7“WhyG5101 does thisG3778 manG3778 speakG2980 that wayG3779? He is blasphemingG987! 9WhoG5101 canG1410 forgiveG863 sinsG266 exceptG1508 GodG2316 aloneG1520?” 8ImmediatelyG2117 JesusG2424, awareG1921 10in His spiritG4151 that they were thinkingG1260 thatG3779 wayG3779 withinG1722 themselvesG1438, saidG3004 to them, “WhyG5101 are you thinkingG1260 aboutG1260 theseG3778 thingsG3778 in your heartsG2588? 9WhichG5101 is easierG2123, to sayG3004 to the 11paralyzedG3885 manG3885, ‘Your sinsG266 are forgivenG863’; orG2228 to sayG3004, ‘GetG1453 upG1453, and pickG142 upG142 your palletG2895 and walkG4043’? 10But soG2443 thatG2443 you may knowG3609 that the SonG5207 of ManG444 hasG2192 authorityG1849 on earthG1093 to forgiveG863 sinsG266”--He saidG3004 to the paralyzedG3885 manG3885, 11“I sayG3004 to you, getG1453 upG1453, pickG142 upG142 your palletG2895, and goG5217 homeG3624.” 12And he gotG1453 upG1453 and immediatelyG2117 pickedG142 upG142 the palletG2895 and wentG1831 outG1831 in the sightG1715 of everyoneG3956, soG5620 thatG5620 they were allG3956 amazedG1839 and 12were glorifyingG1392 GodG2316, sayingG3004, “13We have neverG3763 seenG3708 anything likeG3779 thisG3779!”
13And He wentG1831 outG1831 againG3825 by the seashoreG2281; and 14allG3956 the 15peopleG3793 were comingG2064 to Him, and He was teachingG1321 them.
Levi (Matthew) Called
1416As He passedG3855 by, He sawG3708 1718LeviG3017 the son of AlphaeusG256 sittingG2521 in the taxG5058 officeG5058, and He saidG3004 to him, “19FollowG190 Me!” And he gotG450 upG450 and followedG190 Him.
15And it happenedG1096 that He was recliningG2621 at the table in his houseG3614, and manyG4183 taxG5057 collectorsG5057 and 20sinnersG268 were 21diningG4873 with JesusG2424 and His disciplesG3101; for there were manyG4183 of them, and they were followingG190 Him. 16When 22the scribesG1122 of the PhariseesG5330 sawG3708 that He was eatingG2068 with the 23sinnersG268 and taxG5057 collectorsG5057, they saidG3004 to His disciplesG3101, “24WhyG5101 is He eatingG2068 with taxG5057 collectorsG5057 and 25sinnersG268?” 17And hearingG191 this, JesusG2424 saidG3004 to them, “26It is not thoseG3588 who are healthyG2480 who needG5532 a physicianG2395, but thoseG3588 who are sickG2560; I did not comeG2064 to callG2564 the righteousG1342, but sinnersG268.”
1827John’sG2491 disciplesG3101 and the PhariseesG5330 were fastingG3522; and they cameG2064 and saidG3004 to Him, “WhyG1223G5101 do John’sG2491 disciplesG3101 and the disciplesG3101 of the PhariseesG5330 fastG3522, but Your disciplesG3101 do not fastG3522?” 19And JesusG2424 saidG3004 to them, “WhileG1722G3739 the groomG3566 is with them, 28the attendantsG5207 of the groomG3567 cannotG1410G3361 fastG3522, can they? As longG3745G5550 as they haveG2192 the groomG3566 with them, they cannotG1410G3756 fastG3522. 20But the 29daysG2250 will comeG2064 whenG3752 the groomG3566 is takenG522 awayG522 from them, and thenG5119 they will fastG3522, on that dayG2250.
21“NoG3762 oneG3762 sewsG1976 a patchG1915 of unshrunkG46 clothG4470 on an oldG3820 garmentG2440; otherwiseG1490, 30the patchG4138 pullsG142 awayG142 from it, the newG2537 from the oldG3820, and a worseG5501 tearG4978 resultsG1096. 22And noG3762 oneG3762 putsG906 newG3501 wineG3631 into oldG3820 wineskinsG779; otherwiseG1490 the wineG3631 will burstG4486 the skinsG779, and the wineG3631 is lostG622 and the skinsG779 as well; but one puts newG3501 wineG3631 into freshG2537 wineskinsG779.”
Question of the Sabbath
2331And it happenedG1096 that He was passingG3899 throughG1223 the grainfieldsG4702 on the SabbathG4521, and His disciplesG3101 beganG757 to makeG4160 their wayG3598 along while 32pickingG5089 the headsG4719 of grain. 24The PhariseesG5330 were sayingG3004 to Him, “LookG2396, 33whyG5101 are they doingG4160 whatG3739 is not lawfulG1832 on the SabbathG4521?” 25And He saidG3004 to them, “Have you neverG3763 readG314 whatG5101 DavidG1160 didG4160 whenG3753 he was in needG5532 and he and his companionsG3588G3326 became hungryG3983; 26howG4459 he enteredG1525 the houseG3624 of GodG2316 in the 34timeG1909 of 35AbiatharG8 the highG749 priestG749, and ateG2068 the 36consecratedG4286 breadG740, whichG3739 37is not lawfulG1832 for anyone to eatG2068 exceptG1508 the priestsG2409, and he alsoG2532 gaveG1325 it to thoseG3588 who were with him?” 27Jesus saidG3004 to them, “38The SabbathG4521 39was madeG1096 40for manG444, and 41not manG444 42for the SabbathG4521. 28SoG5620 the SonG5207 of ManG444 is LordG2962, evenG2532 of the SabbathG4521.”
