John 13:4-38
4gotG1453 upG1453 from supperG1173 and laidG5087 His outerG2440 garmentsG2440 aside; and He tookG2983 a towelG3012 and 1tiedG1241 it aroundG1241 HimselfG1438. 5ThenG1534 He pouredG906 waterG5204 into the basinG3537, and beganG757 2washingG3538 the disciples’G3101 feetG4228 and wipingG1591 them with the towelG3012 whichG3739 He had tiedG1241 aroundG1241 Himself. 6SoG3767 He cameG2064 to SimonG4613 PeterG4074. He saidG3004 to Him, “LordG2962, You are washingG3538 my feetG4228?” 7JesusG2424 answeredG611 and saidG3004 to him, “WhatG3739 I am doingG4160, you do not realizeG3609 rightG737 nowG737, but you will understandG1097 3laterG3326G3778.” 8PeterG4074 saidG3004 to Him, “NeverG3756G3361 shall You washG3538 my feetG4228!” JesusG2424 answeredG611 him, “4IfG1437 I do not washG3538 you, 5you haveG2192 noG3756 6placeG3313 with Me.” 9SimonG4613 PeterG4074 saidG3004 to Him, “LordG2962, then wash not onlyG3440 my feetG4228, but alsoG2532 my handsG5495 and my headG2776!” 10JesusG2424 saidG3004 to him, “He who has bathedG3068 needsG5532 onlyG3756G1487G3361 to washG3538 his feetG4228; otherwiseG235 he is completelyG3650 cleanG2513. And 7you are cleanG2513--but 8not allG3956 of you.” 11For 9He knewG3609 the one who was betrayingG3860 Him; it was for thisG3778 reasonG1223 that He saidG3004, “Not allG3956 of you are cleanG2513.”
12ThenG3767, whenG3753 He had washedG3538 their feetG4228, and 10takenG2983 His garmentsG2440 and reclinedG377 at the table againG3825, He saidG3004 to them, “Do you knowG1097 whatG5101 I have doneG4160 for you? 13You callG5455 Me 11‘TeacherG1320’ and 12‘LordG2962’; and 13you are correctG2573, for so I amG1510. 14SoG3767 ifG1487 I, 14the LordG2962 and the TeacherG1320, washedG3538 your feetG4228, you alsoG2532 oughtG3784 to washG3538 oneG240 another’sG240 feetG4228. 15For I gaveG1325 you 15an exampleG5262, soG2443 thatG2443 you alsoG2532 would doG4160 justG2531 as I didG4160 for you. 16TrulyG281, trulyG281 I sayG3004 to you, 16a slaveG1401 is not greaterG3173 than his masterG2962, norG3761 is 1718oneG652 who is sentG652 greaterG3173 than the one who sentG3992 him. 17IfG1487 you knowG3609 theseG3778 thingsG3778, you are 19blessedG3107 ifG1437 you doG4160 them. 1820I am not speakingG3004 aboutG4012 allG3956 of you. I knowG3609 the ones whomG5101 I have 21chosenG1586; but this is happening 22soG2443 thatG2443 the ScriptureG1124 may be fulfilledG4137, ‘23He who eatsG5176 My breadG740 has liftedG1869 up his heelG4418 againstG1909 Me.’ 19From nowG737 on 24I am tellingG3004 you beforeG4253 it happensG1096, soG2443 thatG2443 whenG3752 it does happenG1096, you may believeG4100 that 25I amG1510 He. 20TrulyG281, trulyG281 I sayG3004 to you, 26the one who 27receivesG2983 anyoneG302G5100 I sendG3992, 28receivesG2983 Me; and the one who 29receivesG2983 Me 30receivesG2983 Him who sentG3992 Me.”
21When JesusG2424 had saidG3004 theseG3778 thingsG3778, He 31became troubledG5015 in spiritG4151, and 32testifiedG3140 and saidG3004, “TrulyG281, trulyG281 I sayG3004 to you that 33oneG1520 of you will 34betrayG3860 Me.” 22The disciplesG3101 began lookingG991 at oneG240 anotherG240, 35atG639 aG639 lossG639 to know of whichG5101 oneG5101 He was speakingG3004. 23LyingG345 backG345 on 36Jesus’G2424 chestG2859 was oneG1520 of His disciplesG3101, 37whomG3739 JesusG2424 lovedG25. 24SoG3767 SimonG4613 PeterG4074 noddedG3506 to this disciple and saidG3004 to him, “TellG3004 us whoG5101 it is of whomG3739 He is speakingG3004.” 25He then simplyG3779 38leanedG377 backG377 on Jesus’G2424 chestG4738 and saidG3004 to Him, “LordG2962, whoG5101 is it?” 26JesusG2424 thenG3767 answeredG611, “ThatG1565 manG1565 is the one for whomG3739 I shall dipG911 the pieceG5596 of bread and giveG1325 it to him.” SoG3767 when He had dippedG911 the pieceG5596 of bread, He tookG2983 and gaveG1325 it to JudasG2455, 39the son of SimonG4613 IscariotG2469. 27AfterG3326 40this, 41SatanG4567 thenG5119 42enteredG1525 him. ThereforeG3767 JesusG2424 saidG3004 to him, “WhatG3739 you are doingG4160, doG4160 it quicklyG5036.” 28NowG1161 noneG3762 of thoseG3588 recliningG345 at the table knewG1097 for whatG5101 purposeG4314 He had saidG3004 thisG3778 to him. 29For someG5100 were assumingG1380, sinceG1893 JudasG2455 43keptG2192 the moneyG1101 boxG1101, that JesusG2424 was sayingG3004 to him, “BuyG59 the things we needG2192G5532 44for the feastG1859”; orG2228 elseG2228, that he was to 4546giveG1325 somethingG5100 to the poorG4434. 30SoG3767 after receivingG2983 the pieceG5596 of bread, he leftG1831 immediatelyG2117; and 47it was nightG3571.
31ThereforeG3767 whenG3753 he had leftG1831, JesusG2424 saidG3004, “NowG3568 48is 49the SonG5207 of ManG444 50glorifiedG1392, and 51GodG2316 52is glorifiedG1392 in Him; 3253ifG1487 GodG2316 is glorifiedG1392 in Him, 54GodG2316 will alsoG2532 glorifyG1392 Him in HimselfG846, and will glorifyG1392 Him immediatelyG2117. 3355LittleG5040 childrenG5040, I amG1510 still with you 56a littleG3398 longerG2089. 57You will lookG2212 forG2212 Me; and justG2531 asG2531 I saidG3004 to the 58JewsG2453, nowG737 I alsoG2532 sayG3004 to you: ‘WhereG3699 I am goingG5217, you cannotG1410G3756 comeG1831.’ 34I am givingG1325 you a 59newG2537 commandmentG1785, 60that you loveG25 oneG240 anotherG240; 61justG2531 asG2531 I have lovedG25 you, that you alsoG2532 loveG25 oneG240 anotherG240. 3562By thisG3778 allG3956 people will knowG1097 that you are My disciplesG3101: ifG1437 you haveG2192 loveG26 for oneG240 anotherG240.”
36SimonG4613 PeterG4074 saidG3004 to Him, “LordG2962, whereG4226 are You goingG5217?” JesusG2424 answeredG611, “63WhereG3699 I am goingG5217, you cannotG1410G3756 followG190 Me nowG3568; but 64you will followG190 laterG5305.” 37PeterG4074 saidG3004 to Him, “LordG2962, whyG1223G5101 canG1410 I not followG190 You rightG737 nowG737? 65I will layG5087 downG5087 my lifeG5590 for You.” 38JesusG2424 repliedG611, “Will you layG5087 downG5087 your lifeG5590 for Me? TrulyG281, trulyG281 I sayG3004 to you, 66a roosterG220 will not crowG5455 untilG2193 you denyG720 Me threeG5151 timesG5151.
