Acts 4:2-23
2being greatlyG1278 disturbedG1278 becauseG1223 they were teachingG1321 the peopleG2992 and proclaimingG2605 12in JesusG2424 the resurrectionG386 from the deadG3498. 3And they laidG1911 handsG5495 on them and 3putG5087 them in jailG5084 untilG1519 the nextG839 dayG839, for it was alreadyG2235 eveningG2073. 4But manyG4183 of thoseG3588 who had heardG191 the 4messageG3056 believedG4100; and 5the numberG706 of the menG435 cameG1096 to be aboutG5613 fiveG4002 thousandG5505.
5On the nextG839 dayG839, their 6rulersG758 and eldersG4245 and scribesG1122 were gatheredG4863 togetherG4863 in JerusalemG2419; 6and 7AnnasG452 the highG749 priestG749 was there, and 8CaiaphasG2533 and JohnG2491 and AlexanderG223, and allG3745 whoG3745 were of high-priestlyG748 descentG1085. 7When they had placedG2476 them in the centerG3319, they began to inquireG4441, “By whatG4169 powerG1411, orG2228 in whatG4169 nameG3686, have you doneG4160 thisG3778?” 8ThenG5119 PeterG4074, 910filledG4092 with the HolyG40 SpiritG4151, saidG3004 to them, “1112RulersG758 and eldersG4245 of the peopleG2992, 9ifG1487 we are 13on trialG350 todayG4594 for 14a benefitG2108 doneG2108 to a sickG772 manG444, 15as to howG5101 thisG3778 manG3778 has been madeG4982 wellG4982, 10let it be knownG1110 to allG3956 of you and to allG3956 the peopleG2992 of IsraelG2274, that 1617by the nameG3686 of JesusG2424 ChristG5547 the NazareneG3480, whomG3739 you crucifiedG4717, whomG3739 18GodG2316 raisedG1453 from the deadG3498--19by 20thisG3778 name thisG3778 manG3778 standsG3936 hereG3936 beforeG1799 you in goodG5199 healthG5199. 112122He is the 23stoneG3037 which was 24rejectedG1848 by you, the buildersG3620, but which becameG1096 the chiefG2776 cornerG1137 stone. 12And there is salvationG4991 in 25noG3756G3762 oneG3762 elseG243; for there is noG3761 otherG2087 nameG3686 underG5259 heavenG3772 that has been givenG1325 amongG1722 menG444 by whichG3739 we mustG1163 be savedG4982.”
13NowG1161 as they observedG2334 the 26confidenceG3954 of 27PeterG4074 and JohnG2491 and understoodG2638 that they were uneducatedG62 and untrainedG2399 menG444, they were amazedG2296, and 28began to recognizeG1921 them 29as having beenG1510 with JesusG2424. 14And seeingG991 the manG444 who had been healedG2323 standingG2476 with them, they hadG2192 nothingG3762 to sayG471 in replyG471. 15But when they had orderedG2753 them to leaveG565 the 3031CouncilG4892, they began to conferG4820 with oneG240 anotherG240, 16sayingG3004, “32WhatG5101 shall we doG4160 with theseG3778 menG444? For the factG3754 that a 33noteworthyG1110 34miracleG4592 has takenG1096 placeG1096 throughG1223 them is apparentG5318 to allG3956 who liveG2730 in JerusalemG2419, and we cannotG1410G3756 denyG720 it. 17But soG2443 that it will not spreadG1268 anyG1909 furtherG1909G4183 amongG1519 the peopleG2992, let us warnG546 them to speakG2980 noG3371 longerG3371 to anyG3367 manG444 35in thisG3778 nameG3686.” 18And when they had summonedG2564 them, they 36commandedG3853 them not to speakG5350 orG3366 teachG1321 at allG2527 37in the nameG3686 of JesusG2424. 19But 38PeterG4074 and JohnG2491 answeredG611 and saidG3004 to them, “39WhetherG1487 it is rightG1342 in the sightG1799 of GodG2316 to giveG191 heedG191 to you ratherG3123 thanG2228 to GodG2316, you be the judgeG2919; 20for 40we cannotG1410G3756 stopG3361 speakingG2980 about whatG3739 we have seenG3708 and heardG191.” 21When they had threatenedG4324 them furtherG4324, they letG630 them goG630 (findingG2147 noG3367 basisG3367 on which to punishG2849 them) 41on accountG1223 of the peopleG2992, becauseG3754 they were allG3956 42glorifyingG1392 GodG2316 for what had happenedG1096; 22for the manG444 was moreG4183 than fortyG5065 yearsG2094 old on whomG3739 thisG3778 43miracleG4592 of healingG2392 had been performedG1096.
23When they had been releasedG630, they wentG2064 to their ownG2398 companions and reportedG518 allG3745 that the chiefG749 priestsG749 and the eldersG4245 had saidG3004 to them.
