Isaiah 8:11-20

11For Jehovah spoke thusH3541 to me with a strong handH3027, and he instructed me not to walk in the wayH1870 of this peopleH5971, sayingH559,

12Ye shall not sayH559, ConspiracyH7195, of everythingH3605 of which this peopleH5971 saith, ConspiracyH7195; and fearH3372 ye not their fearH3372, and be not in dread.

13Jehovah of hostsH6635, him shall ye sanctifyH6942; and let him be your fearH4172, and let him be your dread.

14And he will beH1961 for a sanctuaryH4720; and for a stoneH68 of stumbling, and for a rockH6697 of offence to both the housesH1004 of IsraelH3478, for a gin and for a snareH4170 to the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389.

15And manyH7227 among them shall stumbleH3782, and fallH5307, and be brokenH7665, and snared, and takenH3920.

16Bind up the testimonyH8584, sealH2856 the lawH8451 among my disciples.

17And I will waitH2442 for Jehovah, who hideth his faceH6440 from the houseH1004 of JacobH3290; and I will look for him.

18Behold, I and the childrenH3206 that Jehovah hath givenH5414 me are for signsH226 and for wondersH4159 in IsraelH3478, from Jehovah of hostsH6635, who dwelleth in mount ZionH6726.

19And when they shall sayH559 unto you, SeekH1875 unto the necromancers and unto the soothsayers, who chirp and who mutter, [sayH559,] Shall not a peopleH5971 seekH1875 unto their 1GodH430? [Will they go] for the living unto the deadH4191?

20To the lawH8451 and the testimonyH8584! If they speak not according to this wordH1697, for them there is no daybreak.
