Mark 3

(Matthew 12:9–14; Luke 6:6–11)

1Once againG2532G3825 Jesus enteredG1525G1519 theG3588 synagogueG4864, andG2532 a manG444 withG2192 aG3588 witheredG3583 handG5495 wasG1510 thereG1563. 2In order toG2443 accuseG2723 Jesus, they were watchingG3906 to see ifG1487 He would healG2323 on theG3588 SabbathG4521.

3ThenG2532 Jesus saidG3004 to theG3588 manG444 withG2192 theG3588 witheredG3584 handG5495, “Stand upG1453 amongG1519G3588G3319 us.” 4AndG2532 He askedG3004 themG846, “Which is lawfulG1832 on theG3588 SabbathG4521: to do goodG15 orG2228 to do evilG2554, to saveG4982 lifeG5590 orG2228 to destroyG615 it?”

ButG1161 they were silentG4623.

Jesus looked around atG4017 themG846 withG3326 angerG3709 and sorrowG4818 atG1909 their hardnessG4457 ofG3588 heartG2588. ThenG2532 He saidG3004 to theG3588 manG444, “Stretch outG1614 yourG4771 handG5495.” So he stretched it outG1614, andG2532 it was restoredG600.

6At thisG2532G2112, theG3588 PhariseesG5330 went outG1831 and began plottingG1325G4824 withG3326 theG3588 HerodiansG2265 howG3704 they might killG622 Jesus.

Jesus Heals the Multitudes

(Matthew 4:23–25; Luke 6:17–19)

7So JesusG2424 withdrewG402 withG3326 HisG846 disciplesG3101 toG4314 theG3588 seaG2281, accompanied byG190 a largeG4183 crowdG4128 fromG575 GalileeG1056, JudeaG2449, 8JerusalemG2414, IdumeaG2401, the region beyondG4008 theG3588 JordanG2446, andG2532 the vicinity ofG4012 TyreG5184 andG2532 SidonG4605. The largeG4183 crowdG4128 cameG2064 toG4314 HimG846 when they heardG191 what great thingsG3745 He was doingG4160.

Jesus askedG2036 HisG846 disciplesG3101 toG2443 have a boatG4142 readyG4342 for HimG846 so thatG2443 theG3588 crowdG3793 would not crushG3361G2346 HimG846. 10ForG1063 He had healedG2323 so manyG4183 thatG5620 allG3745 who hadG2192 diseasesG3148 were pressing forwardG1968 toG2443 touchG680 HimG846. 11And whenG2532 theG3588 uncleanG169 spiritsG4151 sawG2334 HimG846, they fell down beforeG4363 HimG846 andG2532 cried outG2896, “YouG4771 areG1510 theG3588 SonG5207 of GodG2316!” 12ButG2532 He warnedG2008 themG846 sternlyG4183 notG3361 toG2443 makeG4160 HimG846 knownG5318.

The Twelve Apostles

(Matthew 10:1–4; Luke 6:12–16)

13ThenG2532 Jesus went upG305 onG1519 theG3588 mountainG3735 andG2532 called forG4341 thoseG3739 HeG846 wantedG2309, andG2532 they cameG565 toG4314 HimG846. 14He appointedG4160 twelveG1427 of them, whom He designated asG3687 apostlesG652,1 toG2443 accompanyG1510G3326 HimG846, toG2443 be sent outG649 to preachG2784, 15andG2532 to haveG2192 authorityG18492 to drive outG1544 demonsG1140.

16

These are theG3588 twelveG1427 He appointedG4160:3 SimonG4613 (whom He namedG2007 PeterG4074), 17JamesG2385 son ofG3588 ZebedeeG2199 andG2532 hisG2385 brotherG80 JohnG2491 (whom He namedG2007G3686 BoanergesG993, meaningG1510 “SonsG5207 of ThunderG1027”), 18AndrewG406, PhilipG5376, BartholomewG918, MatthewG3156, ThomasG2381, JamesG2385 son of AlphaeusG256, ThaddaeusG2280, SimonG4613 theG3588 ZealotG2581,4 19andG2532 JudasG2455 IscariotG2469, who betrayedG3860 Jesus.5

A House Divided

(Matthew 12:22–30; Luke 11:14–23)

20ThenG2532 Jesus wentG2064 homeG3624,6 andG2532 once againG3825 aG3588 crowdG3793 gatheredG4905, so thatG5620 He and His disciples couldG1410 notG3361 evenG3366 eatG846G5315. 21When His familyG3588G3844G846 heardG191 about this, they went outG1831 to take custodyG2902 of HimG846, sayingG2036, “He is out of His mindG1839.”

22AndG2532 theG3588 scribesG1122 whoG3588 had come downG2597 fromG575 JerusalemG2414 were sayingG2036, “He is possessedG2192 by BeelzebulG954,7” andG2532, “ByG1722 theG3588 princeG758 of theG3588 demonsG1140 He drives outG1544 demonsG1140.”

23SoG2532 Jesus called them togetherG4341G846 and began to speakG2036 to themG846 inG1722 parablesG3850: “HowG4459 canG1410 SatanG4567 drive outG1544 SatanG4567? 24IfG1437 a kingdomG932 is dividedG3307 againstG1909 itselfG1438, it cannotG3756G1410 standG2476. 25IfG1437 a houseG3614 is dividedG3307 againstG1909 itselfG1438, it cannotG3756G1410 standG2476. 26AndG2532 ifG1487 SatanG4567 is dividedG3307 andG2532 risesG450 againstG1909 himselfG1438, he cannotG3756G1410 standG2476; his endG5056 has comeG2192. 27IndeedG235, no oneG3762G3756 canG1410 enterG1525G1519 a strong man’sG3588G2478 houseG3614 to stealG1283 hisG846 possessionsG4632 unlessG1437G3361 he first ties upG4412G1210 theG3588 strong manG2478. ThenG5119 he can plunderG1283 hisG846 houseG3614.

The Unpardonable Sin

(Matthew 12:31–32)

28TrulyG281 I tellG3004 youG4771, theG3588 sonsG5207 of menG444 will be forgivenG863 allG3956 sinsG265 andG2532 blasphemiesG988, as many asG3745 they utterG1437G987. 29ButG1161 whoeverG3739G302 blasphemesG987 againstG1519 theG3588 HolyG40 SpiritG4151 will neverG3756G1519G3588G165 beG2192 forgivenG859; he isG1510 guiltyG1777 of eternalG166 sinG265.”

30Jesus made this statement becauseG3754 they were sayingG2036, “He hasG2192 an uncleanG169 spiritG4151.”

Jesus’ Mother and Brothers

(Matthew 12:46–50; Luke 8:19–21)

31ThenG2532 Jesus’ motherG3384 andG2532 brothersG80 cameG2064 andG2532 stoodG4739 outsideG1854. They sent someone inG649 toG4314 summonG2564 HimG846, 32andG2532 a crowdG3793 was sittingG2521 aroundG4012 HimG846. “LookG2400,” He was toldG3004G846, “YourG4771 motherG3384 andG2532 brothersG808 are outsideG1854, asking forG2212 YouG4771.”

33ButG2532 Jesus repliedG611, “WhoG5101 areG1510 MyG1473 motherG3384 andG2532 MyG1473 brothersG80?” 34Looking atG4017 thoseG3588 seatedG2521 in a circleG2945 aroundG4012 HimG846, He saidG3004, “HereG2400 are MyG1473 motherG3384 andG2532 MyG1473 brothersG80! 35ForG1063 whoeverG3739G302 doesG4160 theG3588 willG2307 of GodG2316 isG1510 MyG1473 brotherG80 andG2532 sisterG79 andG2532 motherG3384.”
