Ezekiel’s Vision by the River Kebar
(Psalm 137:1–9)
In the thirtiethH7970 yearH8141, on the fifthH2568 dayH2320 of the fourth monthH7243, while IH589 was amongH8432 the exilesH1473 byH5921 the RiverH5104 KebarH3529, the heavensH8064 openedH6605 and I sawH7200 visionsH4759 of GodH430.1
2On the fifthH2568 day of the monthH2320—itH1931 was the fifthH2549 yearH8141 of the exileH1546 of KingH4428 JehoiachinH3112— 3the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came directlyH1961 toH413 EzekielH3168 the priestH3548, the sonH1121 of BuziH941, in the landH776 of the ChaldeansH37782 byH5921 the RiverH5104 KebarH3529. And thereH8033 the LORD’sH3068 handH3027 wasH1961 upon himH5921.
The Four Living Creatures
4I lookedH7200 and sawH2009 a whirlwindH7307H5591 comingH935 fromH4480 the northH6828, a greatH1419 cloudH6051 with fireH784 flashing back and forthH3947 and brilliant lightH5051 all aroundH5439 it. In the centerH8432 of the fireH784 was a gleamH5869 like amberH2830H8432,3 5and within itH8432 was the formH1823 of fourH702 living creaturesH2416.
And thisH2088 was their appearanceH4758: They had a humanH120 formH1823, 6but eachH259 had fourH702 facesH6440 and fourH702 wingsH3671H259. 7Their legsH7272 were straightH3477, and the solesH3709 of their feetH7272 were like the hoovesH3709H7272 of a calfH5695, gleamingH5340 likeH5869 polishedH7044 bronzeH5178.
8UnderH8478 their wingsH3671 onH5921 their fourH702 sidesH7253 they had humanH120 handsH3027. All fourH702 living creatures had facesH6440 and wingsH3671, 9and their wingsH3671 were touchingH2266 oneH413 anotherH269H802. They did notH3808 turnH5437 as they movedH1980; eachH376H413 one wentH1980 straightH5676 aheadH6440.
10The formH1823 of their facesH6440 was thatH6440 of a manH120, and each of the fourH702 had the faceH6440 of a lionH738 onH413 the right sideH3225, the faceH6440 of an oxH7794 on the left sideH8040, and alsoH702 the faceH6440 of an eagleH5404H702. 11Such were their facesH6440.
Their wingsH3671 were spreadH6504 upwardH4605; eachH376 had twoH8147 wings touchingH2266 the wings of the creature on either sideH376, and twoH8147 wings coveringH3680 itsH853 bodyH1472. 12EachH376 creature wentH1980 straight aheadH413H5676H6440. WhereverH413 the spiritH7307 would goH1980, they would goH1980, withoutH3808 turningH5437 as they movedH1980.
13In the midstH1823 of the living creaturesH2416 was the appearanceH4758 of glowingH784 coalsH1513 of fireH1197, or of torchesH3940H1931. FireH784 moved back and forthH1980 betweenH996 the living creaturesH2416; it was brightH5051, and lightningH1300 flashedH3318 out ofH4480 itH784. 14The creaturesH2416 were darting back and forthH7519H7725 as quickly asH4758 flashes of lightningH965.
The Four Wheels
15When I lookedH7200 at the living creaturesH2416, I sawH2009 aH259 wheelH212 on the groundH776 besideH681 each creatureH2416 with its fourH702 facesH6440. 16The workmanshipH4639 of the wheelsH212 looked likeH4758 the gleamH5869 of berylH8658, and all fourH702 had the sameH259 likenessH1823. Their workmanshipH4639 lookedH4758 likeH834H1961 a wheelH212 withinH8432 a wheelH212. 17As they movedH1980, they wentH1980 inH5921 any of the fourH702 directionsH7253, withoutH3808 pivotingH5437 as they movedH1980. 18Their rimsH1354 were highH1363 and awesomeH3374, and all fourH702 rimsH1354 were full ofH4392 eyesH5869 all aroundH5439. 19So as the living creaturesH2416 movedH1980, the wheelsH212 movedH1980 beside themH681, and when the creaturesH2416 roseH5375 fromH5921 the groundH776, the wheelsH212 also roseH5375.
20WhereverH5921 the spiritH7307 would goH1980, they would goH1980H8033H7307, and the wheelsH212 would riseH5375 alongside themH5980, becauseH3588 the spiritH7307 of the living creaturesH2416 was in the wheelsH212. 21When the creatures movedH1980, the wheels movedH1980; when the creatures stood stillH5975, the wheels stood stillH5975; and when the creatures roseH5375 fromH5921 the groundH776, the wheelsH212 roseH5375 alongside themH5980, becauseH3588 the spiritH7307 of the living creaturesH2416 was in the wheelsH212.
The Divine Glory
22Spread outH5186 aboveH5921H4605 the headsH7218 of the living creaturesH2416 was the likenessH1823 of an awesomeH3372 expanseH7549, gleamingH5869 like crystalH7140. 23And underH8478 the expanseH7549, their wingsH3671 stretched outH3477 towardH413 oneH802 anotherH269. Each oneH376 also had twoH8147 wings coveringH3680 its bodyH1472.
24When the creatures movedH1980, I heardH8085 the soundH6963 of their wingsH3671 like the roarH6963 of manyH7227 watersH4325, like the voiceH6963 of the AlmightyH7706,4 likeH6963 the tumultH1999H6963 of an armyH4264.
When they stood stillH5975, they loweredH7503 their wingsH3671. 25And there cameH1961 a voiceH6963 from aboveH5921 the expanseH7549 overH5921 their headsH7218 as they stood stillH5975 with their wingsH3671 loweredH7503.
26AboveH4605 the expanseH7549 overH5921 their headsH7218 was the likenessH1823 of a throneH3678H5921 with the appearanceH4758 of sapphireH5601H68, and on the throneH3678 high aboveH5921 was a figureH1823 like thatH4758 of a manH120H1823H4605. 27From what seemedH4758 to be His waistH4975 upH4605, I sawH7200 a gleamH5869 like amberH2830, with what lookedH4758 like fireH784 withinH1004 it all aroundH5439. And from what seemedH4758 to be His waistH4975 downH4295, I sawH7200 what lookedH4758 like fireH784; and brilliant lightH5051 surrounded HimH5439.
28The appearanceH4758 of the brilliant lightH5051 all around HimH5439 was like thatH4758 of a rainbowH7198 in a cloudH6051 on a rainyH1653 dayH3117. ThisH1931 was the appearanceH4758 of the likenessH1823 of the gloryH3519 of the LORDH3068. And when I saw itH7200, I fellH5307 facedownH5921H6440 and heardH8085 a voiceH6963 speakingH1696.
