The Proclamation of Cyrus
(2 Chronicles 36:22–23; Isaiah 45:1–25)
1In the firstH259 yearH8141 of CyrusH3566 kingH4428 of PersiaH6539, to fulfillH3615 the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 spokenH6310 through JeremiahH3414, the LORDH3068 stirredH5782 the spiritH7307 of CyrusH3566 kingH4428 of PersiaH6539 to sendH5674 a proclamationH6963 throughoutH3605 his kingdomH4438 andH1571 to put it in writingH4385 as followsH559:
2“This is whatH3541 CyrusH3566 kingH4428 of PersiaH6539 saysH559:
‘The LORDH3068, the GodH430 of heavenH8064, whoH1931 has givenH5414 me allH3605 the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776, has appointedH6485 meH5921 to buildH1129 a houseH1004 for Him at JerusalemH3389 in JudahH3063.
3WhoeverH4310 among you belongs toH3605 His peopleH5971, may his GodH430 beH1961 with himH5973, and may he goH5927 to JerusalemH3389 in JudahH3063 and buildH1129 the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478; HeH1931 is the GodH430 whoH834 is in JerusalemH3389. 4And let everyH3605 survivorH7604, whereverH3605H4725 heH1931 livesH1481H8033, be assistedH5375 by the menH582 of that regionH4725 with silverH3701, goldH2091, goodsH7399, and livestockH929, along withH5973 a freewill offeringH5071 for the houseH1004 of GodH430 in JerusalemH3389.’”
5So the familyH1 headsH7218 of JudahH3063 and BenjaminH1144, along with the priestsH3548 and LevitesH3881—everyoneH3605 whose spiritH7307 GodH430 had stirredH5782—preparedH6965 to go upH5927 and rebuildH1129 the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068 in JerusalemH3389.
6And allH3605 their neighborsH5439 supportedH2388 themH3027 with articlesH3627 of silverH3701 and goldH2091, with goodsH7399 and livestockH929, and with valuablesH4030, in additionH905 toH5921 allH3605 their freewill offeringsH5068.
