A Paralyzed Man Healed

1GettingG1684 into a boatG4143, Jesus crossedG1276 overG1276 the Sea of Galilee and cameG2064 to 1His ownG2398 cityG4172.

22And they broughtG4374 to Him a 3paralyzedG3885 manG3885 lyingG906 on a stretcherG2825. And seeingG3708 their faithG4102, JesusG2424 saidG3004 to the manG3885 who was paralyzedG3885, “4TakeG2293 courageG2293, 5sonG5043; 6your sinsG266 are forgivenG863.” 3And someG5100 of the scribesG1122 saidG3004 7to themselvesG1438, “ThisG3778 manG3778 is 8blasphemingG987!” 4And JesusG2424, 9perceivingG3708 their thoughtsG1761, saidG3004, “WhyG2444 are you thinkingG1760 evilG4190 in your heartsG2588? 5For whichG5101 is easierG2123, to sayG3004, ‘10Your sinsG266 are forgivenG863,’ orG2228 to sayG3004, ‘GetG1453 upG1453 and walkG4043’? 6But soG2443 thatG2443 you may knowG3609 that 11the SonG5207 of ManG444 hasG2192 authorityG1849 on earthG1093 to forgiveG863 sinsG266”--thenG5119 He saidG3004 to the 12paralyzedG3885 manG3885, “GetG1453 upG1453, pickG142 upG142 your stretcherG2825 and goG5217 homeG3624.” 7And he gotG1453 upG1453 and 13wentG565 homeG3624. 8But when the crowdsG3793 sawG3708 this, they wereG5399 14awestruckG5399, and they 15glorifiedG1392 GodG2316, who had givenG1325 suchG5108 authorityG1849 to menG444.

Matthew Called

916As JesusG2424 wentG3855 on fromG1564 thereG1564, He sawG3708 a manG444 calledG3004 17MatthewG3102 sittingG2521 in the taxG5058 collector’sG5058 officeG5058; and He saidG3004 to him, “18FollowG190 Me!” And he gotG450 upG450 and followedG190 Him.

10ThenG2532 it happenedG1096 that as 19JesusG2424 was recliningG345 at the table in the houseG3614, beholdG2400, manyG4183 taxG5057 collectorsG5057 and 20sinnersG268 cameG2064 and began diningG4873 with JesusG2424 and His disciplesG3101. 11And when the PhariseesG5330 sawG3708 this, they saidG3004 to His disciplesG3101, “21WhyG1223G5101 is your TeacherG1320 eatingG2068 with the taxG5057 collectorsG5057 and sinnersG268?” 12But when Jesus heardG191 this, He saidG3004, “It is not 22thoseG3588 who are healthyG2480 who needG2192G5532 a physicianG2395, but thoseG3588 who are sickG2192G2560. 13NowG1161 goG4198 and learnG3129 2324whatG5101 this meansG1510: ‘25I desireG2309 26compassionG1656, 27ratherG3756 thanG2532 sacrificeG2378,’ for 28I did not comeG2064 to callG2564 the righteousG1342, but sinnersG268.”

The Question about Fasting

14ThenG5119 the disciplesG3101 of JohnG2491 cameG4334 to Him, askingG3004, “WhyG1223G5101 do we and 29the PhariseesG5330 fastG3522, but Your disciplesG3101 do not fastG3522?” 15And JesusG2424 saidG3004 to them, “The 30attendantsG5207 of the groomG3567 cannotG1410G3361 mournG3996 as longG3745 as the groomG3566 is with them, can they? But the daysG2250 will comeG2064 whenG3752 the groomG3566 is takenG522 awayG522 from them, and thenG5119 they will fastG3522. 16But noG3762 oneG3762 putsG1911 a patchG1915 of unshrunkG46 clothG4470 on an oldG3820 garmentG2440; for 31the patchG4138 pullsG142 awayG575 from the garmentG2440, and a worseG5501 tearG4978 resultsG1096. 17NorG3761 do people putG906 newG3501 wineG3631 into oldG3820 wineskinsG779; otherwiseG1490 the wineskinsG779 burstG4486, and the wineG3631 poursG1632 outG1632 and the wineskinsG779 are ruinedG622; but they putG906 newG3501 wineG3631 into freshG2537 wineskinsG779, and bothG297 are preservedG4933.”

Miracles of Healing

1832While He was sayingG2980 theseG3778 thingsG3778 to them, beholdG2400, 33a synagogue 34officialG758 cameG4334 and 3536bowedG4352 downG4352 beforeG4352 Him, and saidG3004, “My daughterG2364 has justG737 diedG5053; but comeG2064 and layG2007 Your handG5495 on her, and she will becomeG2198 aliveG2198 againG2198.” 19JesusG2424 gotG1453 upG1453 from the table and began to accompanyG190 him, along with His disciplesG3101.

20And beholdG2400, a womanG1135 who had been sufferingG131 fromG131 aG131 hemorrhageG131 for twelveG1427 yearsG2094 cameG4334 upG4334 behindG3693 Him, and touchedG681 37the 38borderG2899 of His 39cloakG2440; 21for she was 40sayingG3004 41to herselfG1438, “IfG1437 I onlyG3440 42touchG681 His cloakG2440, I will 43getG4982 wellG4982.” 22But JesusG2424, turningG4762 and seeingG3708 her, saidG3004, “DaughterG2364, 44takeG2293 courageG2293; 45your faithG4102 has 46madeG4982 you wellG4982.” And 47at onceG1565G5610 the womanG1135 was 48madeG4982 wellG4982.

23When JesusG2424 cameG2064 into the 49official’sG758 houseG3614 and sawG3708 50the fluteG834 playersG834 and the crowdG3793 inG2350 noisyG2350 disorderG2350, 24He saidG3004, “LeaveG402; for the girlG2877 51has not diedG599, but isG2518 asleepG2518.” And they began laughingG2606 atG2606 Him. 25But 52whenG3753 the crowdG3793 had been sentG1544 outG1544, He enteredG1525 and 53tookG2902 her by the handG5495, and the girlG2877 54gotG1453 upG1453. 26And 55thisG3778 newsG5345 spreadG1831 throughoutG1519G3650 that landG1093.

27As JesusG2424 wentG3855 on fromG1564 thereG1564, twoG1417 menG5185 whoG5185 wereG5185 blindG5185 followedG190 Him, cryingG2896 outG2896, “HaveG1653 mercyG1653 on us, 56SonG5207 of DavidG1160!” 28And after He enteredG2064 the houseG3614, the menG5185 whoG5185 wereG5185 blindG5185 cameG4334 upG4334 to Him, and JesusG2424 saidG3004 to them, “Do you believeG4100 that I amG1410 ableG1410 to doG4160 thisG3778?” They saidG3004 to Him, “YesG3483, LordG2962.” 29ThenG5119 He touchedG681 their eyesG3788, sayingG3004, “57It shall be doneG1096 for you 58accordingG2596 to your faithG4102.” 30And their eyesG3788 were openedG455. And JesusG2424 59sternlyG1690 warnedG1690 them, sayingG3004, “SeeG3708 that noG3367 oneG3367 knowsG1097 about this!” 31But they wentG1831 outG1831 and 60spreadG1310 theG1310 newsG1310 about Him throughoutG1722G3650 that landG1093.

32And as they were goingG1831 outG1831, beholdG2400, 61a 62demon-possessedG1139 manG444 who was unableG2974 to speakG2974 63was broughtG4374 to Him. 33And after the demonG1140 was castG1544 outG1544, the manG2974 who was previously unableG2974 to speakG2974 talkedG2980; and the crowdsG3793 were amazedG2296, and were sayingG3004, “64NothingG3763 likeG3779 thisG3779 has everG3763 65been seenG5316 in IsraelG2474.” 34But the PhariseesG5330 were sayingG3004, “He 66castsG1544 outG1544 the demonsG1140 by the rulerG758 of the demonsG1140.”

35JesusG2424 was goingG4013 throughG4013 allG3956 the citiesG4172 and villagesG2968, 67teachingG1321 in their synagoguesG4864 and proclaimingG2784 the gospelG2098 of the kingdomG932, and healingG2323 everyG3956 diseaseG3554 and everyG3956 sicknessG3119.

3668SeeingG3708 the crowdsG3793, He feltG4697 compassionG4697 for them, 69becauseG3754 they were 70distressedG4660 and downcastG4496, likeG5616 sheepG4263 71withoutG3361G2192 a shepherdG4166. 37ThenG5119 He saidG3004 to His disciplesG3101, “72The harvestG2326 is plentifulG4183, but the workersG2040 are fewG3641. 38ThereforeG3767, pleadG1189 with the LordG2962 of the harvestG2326 to sendG1544 outG1544 workersG2040 into His harvestG2326.”
