The Transfiguration

11SixG1803 daysG2250 laterG3326, JesusG2424 tookG3880 with Him 2PeterG4074 and 3JamesG2385, and his brotherG80 JohnG2491, and ledG399 them upG399 on a highG5308 mountainG3735 by themselvesG2398. 2And He was transfiguredG3339 beforeG1715 them; and His faceG4383 shoneG2989 likeG5613 the sunG2246, and His garmentsG2440 becameG1096 as whiteG3022 as lightG5457. 3And beholdG2400, MosesG3475 and ElijahG2243 appearedG3708 to them, talkingG4814 with Him. 4PeterG4074 respondedG611 and saidG3004 to JesusG2424, “LordG2962, it is goodG2570 that we are hereG5602. IfG1487 You wantG2309, 4I will makeG4160 threeG5140 5tabernaclesG4633 hereG5602: oneG1520 for You, oneG1520 for MosesG3475, and oneG1520 for ElijahG2243.” 5While he was stillG2089 speakingG2980, a brightG5460 cloudG3507 overshadowedG1982 them, and beholdG2400, 6a voiceG5456 from the cloudG3507 saidG3004, “7ThisG3778 is My belovedG27 SonG5207, with whomG3739 I amG2106 wellG2106 pleasedG2106; listenG191 to Him!” 6When the disciplesG3101 heardG191 this, they fellG4098 8faceG4383 down to the ground and wereG5399 terrifiedG5399G4970. 7And JesusG2424 cameG4334 to them and touchedG681 them and saidG3004, “GetG1453 upG1453, and 9do not beG5399 afraidG5399.” 8And raisingG1869 their eyesG3788, they sawG3708 noG3762 oneG3762 exceptG1508 JesusG2424 HimselfG846 aloneG3441.

910When they were comingG2597 downG2597 from the mountainG3735, JesusG2424 commandedG1781 them, sayingG3004, “11TellG3004 the visionG3705 to noG3367 oneG3367 untilG2193 12the SonG5207 of ManG444 has 13risenG1453 from the deadG3498.” 10And His disciplesG3101 askedG1905 Him, “WhyG5101 thenG3767 do the scribesG1122 sayG3004 that 14ElijahG2243 mustG1163 comeG2064 firstG4413?” 11And He answeredG611 and saidG3004, “ElijahG2243 is comingG2064 and will restoreG600 allG3956 thingsG3956; 12but I sayG3004 to you that ElijahG2243 alreadyG2235 cameG2064, and they did not recognizeG1921 him, but didG4160 15to him whateverG3745 they wantedG2309. SoG3779 alsoG2532 16the SonG5207 of ManG444 isG3195 goingG3195 toG3195 sufferG3958 17atG5259 their handsG5259.” 13ThenG5119 the disciplesG3101 understoodG4920 that He had spokenG3004 to them aboutG4012 JohnG2491 the BaptistG910.

The Demon-possessed Boy

1418When they cameG2064 to the crowdG3793, a manG444 cameG4334 upG4334 to 19Jesus, fallingG1120 onG1120 his kneesG1120 beforeG1120 Him and sayingG3004, 15“20LordG2962, haveG1653 mercyG1653 on my sonG5207, becauseG3754 he 21hasG4583 seizuresG4583 and suffersG2192 terriblyG2560; for he oftenG4178 fallsG4098 into the fireG4442 and oftenG4178 into the waterG5204. 16And I broughtG4374 him to Your disciplesG3101, and they couldG1410 not cureG2323 him.” 17And JesusG2424 answeredG611 and saidG3004, “YouG5599 unbelievingG571 and perverseG1294 generationG1074, howG2193 longG2193G4219 shall I be with you? HowG2193 longG2193G4219 shall I putG430 upG430 with you? BringG5342 him hereG5602 to Me.” 18And JesusG2424 rebukedG2008 him, and the demonG1140 cameG1831 outG1831 of him, and the boyG3816 was healedG2323 22at onceG575G1565G5610.

19ThenG5119 the disciplesG3101 cameG4334 to JesusG2424 privatelyG2596G2398 and saidG3004, “WhyG1223G5101 couldG1410 we not castG1544 it outG1544?” 20And He saidG3004 to them, “BecauseG1223 of your meagerG3640 faithG3640; for trulyG281 I sayG3004 to you, 23ifG1437 you haveG2192 faithG4102 24the sizeG5613 of 25a mustardG4615 seedG2848, you will sayG3004 to 26thisG3778 mountainG3735, ‘MoveG3327 fromG1759 hereG1759 to thereG1563,’ and it will moveG3327; and 27nothingG3762 will be impossibleG101 for you.28”

2229And while they were gatheringG4962 togetherG4962 in GalileeG1056, JesusG2424 saidG3004 to them, “The SonG5207 of ManG444 isG3195 goingG3195 toG3195 be 30handedG3860G5495 overG3860 to menG444; 23and 31they will killG615 Him, and He will be raisedG1453 on the thirdG5154 dayG2250.” And they were deeplyG4970 grievedG3076.

The Temple Tax

24NowG1161 when they cameG4334 to CapernaumG2746, thoseG3588 who collectedG2983 32the 33two-drachmaG1323 tax cameG4334 to PeterG4074 and saidG3004, “Does your teacherG1320 not payG5055 34the 35two-drachmaG1323 tax?” 25He saidG3004, “YesG3483.” And when he cameG2064 into the houseG3614, JesusG2424 spokeG4399G3004 to him firstG4399, sayingG3004, “WhatG5101 do you thinkG1380, SimonG4613? From whomG5101 do the kingsG935 of the earthG1093 collectG2983 36customsG5056 orG2228 3738poll-taxG2778, from their sonsG5207 orG2228 from strangersG245?” 26When Peter saidG5346, “From strangersG245,” JesusG2424 saidG5346 to him, “ThenG686 the sonsG5207 are 39exemptG1658. 27HoweverG1161, soG2443 thatG2443 we do not 40offendG4624 them, goG4198 to the seaG2281 and throwG906 in a hookG44, and takeG142 the firstG4413 fishG2486 that comesG305 upG305; and when you openG455 its mouthG4750, you will findG2147 a 41staterG4715. TakeG2983 that and giveG1325 it to them for you and Me.”
