24NowδὲdeG1161when PilateΠιλᾶτοςPilatosG4091sawG3708that he was accomplishingὠφελεῖōpheleiG5623nothingοὐδὲνoudenG3762,but ratherμᾶλλονmallonG3123thata riotθόρυβοςthorubosG2351was startingγίνεται,ginetaiG1096,he tookλαβὼνlabōnG2983waterὕδωρhudōrG5204andwashedἀπενίψατοapenipsatoG633his handsχεῖραςcheirasG5495inG2713frontG2713ofG2713the crowdὄχλουochlouG3793,sayingλέγων·legōnG3004, “I amεἰμιeimiG1510innocentἀθῷόςathōosG121ofthisG3778Man’sG3778bloodαἵματοςaimatosG129;you yourselvesὑμεῖςhumeisG4771shall seeG3708.”

25And allπᾶςpasG3956the peopleλαὸςlaosG2992repliedἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisG611 G3004, “His bloodαἷμαhaimaG129shall beon us and on our childrenτέκναteknaG5043!”

26ThenτότεtoteG5119he releasedἀπέλυσενapelusenG630BarabbasΒαραββᾶν·BarabbanG912for them; but after having JesusἸησοῦνIēsounG2424floggedφραγελλώσαςphragellōsasG5417,he handedG3860Him overG3860to be crucifiedσταυρωθῇ.¶staurōthēaG4717.

27ThenΤότεToteG5119the soldiersστρατιῶταιstratiōtaiG4757of the governorἡγεμόνοςhēgemonosG2232tookπαραλαβόντεςparalabontesG3880JesusἸησοῦνIēsounG2424into thePraetoriumπραιτώριονpraitōrionG4232and gatheredσυνήγαγονsunēgagonG4863the wholeὅληνholēnG3650Romancohortσπεῖραν,speiranG4686to Him.

28And they strippedἐκδύσαντεςekdusantesG1562Him andputπεριέθηκανperiethēkanG4060a redκοκκίνηνkokkinēnG2847cloakχλαμύδαchlamudaG5511on Him.

29And after twistingπλέξαντεςplexantesG4120together a crownστέφανονstephanonG4735of thornsἀκανθῶνakanthōnG173,they putἐπέθηκανepethēkanG2007it on His headκεφαλῆςkephalēsG2776, and put areedκάλαμονkalamonG2563in His rightδεξιᾷdexiaG1188handG1188;and they kneltG1120downG1120beforeἔμπροσθενemprosthenG1715Him and mockedἐνέπαιξανenepaixanG1702Him, sayingλέγοντες·legontesG3004, “HailχαῖρεchaireG5463,KingβασιλεῦbasileuG935of the JewsἸουδαίων.IoudaiōnG2453!”

30Andthey spitἐμπτύσαντεςemptusantesG1716on Him, and tookἔλαβονelabonG2983the reedκάλαμονkalamonG2563and beatἔτυπτονetuptonG5180Him on the headκεφαλὴνkephalēnG2776.

31And afterὅτεhoteG3753they had mockedἐνέπαιξανenepaixanG1702Him, they tookG1562the cloakχλαμύδαchlamudaG5511offG1562Him and putἐνέδυσανenedusanG1746His owngarmentsἱμάτιαhimatiaG2440back on Him, and ledG520Him awayἀπήγαγονapēgagonG520to crucifyσταυρῶσαι.¶staurōsaiG4717Him.

32As they were comingG1831outG1831,they foundεὗρονheuronG2147a manἄνθρωπονanthrōponG444ofG2956CyreneΚυρηναῖονKurēnaionG2956namedὀνόματιonomatiG3686SimonΣίμωνα·SimōnaG4613,whomτοῦτονtoutonG3778they compelledἠγγάρευσανēngareusanG29to carryἄρῃarēG142HiscrossσταυρὸνstauronG4716.

33And when they cameἐλθόντεςelthontesG2064to a placeτόπονtoponG5117calledλεγόμενονlegomenonG3004GolgothaΓολγοθᾶ,GolgothaG1115,whichὅhoG3739meansλεγόμενος,legomenosG3004PlaceτόποςtoposG5117of a SkullκρανίουkraniouG2898,

34they gaveἔδωκανedōkanG1325HimwineοἶνονoinonG3631mixedμεμιγμένον,memigmenonG3396withbileχολῆςcholēsG5521to drinkπιεῖνpieinG4095;and after tastingγευσάμενοςgeusamenosG1089it,He was unwillingοὐκ ἠθέλησενouk ēthelēsenG3756 G2309to drinkπιεῖν.pieinG4095it.

35And when they had crucifiedσταυρώσαντεςstaurōsantesG4717Him,they dividedG1266His garmentsἱμάτιαhimatiaG2440amongG1266themselves by castingβάλλοντεςballontesG906lotsκλῆρον,klēronG2819.

36And sittingG2521downκαθήμενοιkathēmenoiG2521, they began tokeepG5083watchG5083overG5083Him thereἐκεῖ,ekeiG1563.

37And aboveἐπάνωepanōG1883His headκεφαλῆςkephalēsG2776they putἐπέθηκανepethēkanG2007upG2007the chargeG156againstG156Himwhich readγεγραμμένην·gegrammenēnG1125, “THISοὗτόςhoutosG3778IS JESUSἸησοῦςIēsousG2424THE KINGβασιλεὺςbasileusG935OF THE JEWSἸουδαίων.¶IoudaiōnG2453.”

38AtG5119thatG5119timeΤότεToteG5119twoδύοduoG1417rebelsλῃσταί,lēstaiG3027were being crucifiedσταυροῦνταιstaurountaiG4717with Him, oneεἷςheisG1520on the rightδεξιῶνdexiōnG1188and oneεἷςheisG1520on the leftεὐωνύμων.euōnumōnG2176.

39And thoseG3588passingπαραπορευόμενοιparaporeuomenoiG3899by werespeakingG987abusivelyG987to Him,shakingκινοῦντεςkinountesG2795their headsκεφαλὰςkephalasG2776,

40and sayingλέγοντες·legontesG3004, “You who are going todestroyκαταλύωνkataluōnG2647the templeναὸνnaonG3485and rebuildοἰκοδομῶν,oikodomōnG3618itin threeτρισὶνtrisinG5140daysἡμέραιςhēmeraisG2250,saveσῶσονsōsonG4982YourselfG4572!IfεἰeiG1487You are the SonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of Godθεοῦ,theouG2316,comeG2597downG2597from the crossσταυροῦ.staurouG4716.”

41In the sameG3668wayG3668the chiefἀρχιερεῖςarchiereisG749priestsG749alsoG2532,along with the scribesγραμματέωνgrammateōnG1122and eldersπρεσβυτέρωνpresbuterōnG4245,were mockingἐμπαίζοντεςempaizontesG1702Himand sayingἔλεγον·elegonG3004,

42“He savedἔσωσεν,esōsenG4982othersἄλλουςallousG243;He cannotοὐ δύναταιou dunataiG1410 G3756saveσῶσαι.sōsaiG4982Himselfἑαυτὸνhe'autonG1438!He is the KingβασιλεὺςbasileusG935of IsraelἸσραήλIsraēlG2474;let Him nowνῦνnunG3568comeG2597downG2597from the crossσταυροῦ,staurouG4716,and we will believeπιστεύσομενpisteusomenG4100in Him.

43He has trustedπέποιθενpepoithenG3982in Godθεόν·theonG2316;let GodG2316rescueῥυσάσθωrhusasthōG4506HimnowνῦνnunG3568,ifεἰeiG1487HetakesG2309pleasureG2309in Him;for He saidG3004, ‘I amεἰμιeimiG1510the Sonυἱός.¶huiosG5207of GodθεοῦtheouG2316.’”

44And therebelsλῃσταὶlēstaiG3027who had been crucifiedσυσταυρωθέντεςsustaurōthentesG4957with Him were alsoκαὶkaiG2532insultingὠνείδιζονōneidizonG3679Him in the sameG846way.

45NowδὲdeG1161from thesixthἕκτηςhektēsG1623hourὥραςhōrasG5610darknessσκότοςskotosG4655fellἐγένετοegenetoG1096upon allπᾶσανpasanG3956the landγῆνgēnG1093untilἕωςhe'ōsG2193theninthG1729hourὥραςhōrasG5610.

46And aboutπερὶperiG4012the ninthG1729hourὥρανhōranG5610JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424criedG310outG310with a loudμεγάλῃmegalēG3173voiceφωνῇphōnēaG5456,sayingλέγων·legōnG3004, “EliηλιēliG2241,Eliηλι,ēliG2241,lemaλεμαlemaG2982sabaktaneiσαβαχθανι;sabachthaniG4518?” that is, “My GodθεέtheeG2316,My GodθεέtheeG2316,whyG2444have You forsakenἐγκατέλιπες;¶egkatelipesG1459Me?”

47And someΤινὲςTinesG5100of thoseτῶνtōnG3588who were standingἑστηκότωνhestēkotōnG2476thereἐκεῖekeiG1563,when they heardἀκούσαντεςakousantesG191it, saidἔλεγονelegonG3004, “ThisG3778manοὗτος.houtosG3778is callingφωνεῖphōneiG5455for ElijahἨλίανĒlianG2243.”

48AndimmediatelyεὐθέωςeutheōsG2112oneεἷςheisG1520of them ranδραμὼνdramōnG5143,and takingλαβὼνlabōnG2983a spongeσπόγγον,spongonG4699,he filledG4092it with sourG3690wineG3690and putπεριθεὶςperitheisG4060it on a reedκαλάμῳkalamōG2563,and gaveG4222Him aG4222drinkἐπότιζενepotizenG4222.

49But the restλοιποὶloipoiG3062of themsaidἔλεγον·elegonG3004, “Letἄφες,aphesG863us seeG3708ifεἰeiG1487ElijahἨλίαςĒliasG2243comesἔρχεταιerchetaiG2064to saveσώσωνsōsōnG4982Him.”

50And JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424criedG2896outG2896againπάλινpalinG3825with a loudμεγάλῃmegalēG3173voiceφωνῇphōnēaG5456,and gaveG863upG863His spiritπνεῦμα.¶pneumaG4151.
