17NowδὲdeG1161theseventy-twoἑβδομήκοντα δύοhebdomēkonta duoG1440 G1417returnedὙπέστρεψανHupestrepsanG5290with joyχαρᾶςcharasG5479,sayingλέγοντες·legontesG3004, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,evenκαὶkaiG2532the demonsδαιμόνιαdaimoniaG1140are subjectὑποτάσσεταιhupotassetaiG5293to usin Your nameὀνόματίonomatiG3686!”

18And He saidG3004to them,“I watchedἐθεώρουνetheōrounG2334SatanσατανᾶνsatananG4567fallπεσόντα.pesontaG4098from heavenοὐρανοῦouranouG3772likeὡςhōsG5613lightningἀστραπὴνastrapēnG796.

19BeholdἰδοὺidouG2400,I have givenδέδωκαdedōkaG1325you authorityἐξουσίανexousianG1849towalkπατεῖνpateinG3961on snakesὄφεωνopheōnG3789and scorpionsσκορπίωνskorpiōnG4651, and authorityoverἐπὶepiG1909allπᾶσανpasanG3956the powerδύναμινdunaminG1411of the enemyἐχθροῦ,echthrouG2190,and nothingοὐδὲνoudenG3762will injureἀδικήσῃ.adikēsēG91you.

20NeverthelessπλὴνplēnG4133, do notrejoiceχαίρετεchaireteG5463in thisτούτῳtoutōG3778,that the spiritsπνεύματαpneumataG4151are subjectὑποτάσσεται·hupotassetaiG5293to you, but rejoiceχαίρετεchaireteG5463thatyour namesὀνόματαonomataG3686are recordedἐγγέγραπταιengegraptaiG1449in heavenοὐρανοῖς.¶ouranoisG3772.”

21At that veryG846timeὥρᾳhōraG5610He rejoicedG21greatlyG21in the HolyἁγίῳhagiōG40SpiritπνεύματιpneumatiG4151,and saidG3004, “IpraiseἐξομολογοῦμαίexomologoumaiG1843You, Fatherπάτερ,paterG3962,LordκύριεkurieG2962of heavenοὐρανοῦouranouG3772and earthγῆς,gēsG1093,that You have hiddenἀπέκρυψαςapekrupsasG613theseG3778thingsταῦταtautaG3778from thewiseσοφῶνsophōnG4680and intelligentσυνετῶνsunetōnG4908and have revealedἀπεκάλυψαςapekalupsasG601them to infantsνηπίοις.nēpioisG3516.YesναὶnaiG3483,Fatherπατήρ,patērG3962, for doingsoοὕτωςhoutōsG3779was wellG2106pleasingεὐδοκίαeudokiaG2107in Your sightἔμπροσθένemprosthenG1715.

22AllG3956thingsπάνταpantaG3956have been handedG3860overG3860to Me by My FatherπατρόςpatrosG3962, andnoG3762oneοὐδεὶςoudeisG3762knowsγινώσκειginōskeiG1097whoτίςtisG5101the SonυἱὸςhuiosG5207is exceptG1508the Fatherπατήρ,patērG3962,and whoτίςtisG5101the FatherπατὴρpatērG3962is exceptG1508the SonυἱὸςhuiosG5207,and anyone to whomᾧhōG3739the SonυἱὸςhuiosG5207determinesβούληταιboulētaiG1014to revealἀποκαλύψαι.¶apokalupsaiG601Him.”

24for I tellλέγωlegōG3004you that manyπολλοὶpolloiG4183prophetsπροφῆταιprophētaiG4396and kingsβασιλεῖςbasileisG935wantedἠθέλησανēthelēsanG2309to seeG3708the things that you seeβλέπετεblepeteG991,and did not seeG3708them,and to hearἀκοῦσαιakousaiG191the things that you hearἀκούετεakoueteG191,and did not hearἤκουσαν.¶ēkousanG191them.”

25And beholdἰδοὺidouG2400, alawyerνομικόςnomikosG3544stoodG450upG450and putG1598Him toG1598theG1598testG1598,sayingλέγων·legōnG3004, “Teacherδιδάσκαλε,didaskaleG1320,whatτίtiG5101shall I doποιήσαςpoiēsasG4160to inheritκληρονομήσω;klēronomēsōG2816eternalαἰώνιονaiōnionG166lifeζωὴνzōēnG2222?”

26And He saidG3004to him,“WhatτίtiG5101is writtenγέγραπται;gegraptaiG1125in the LawνόμῳnomōG3551?HowπῶςpōsG4459does it readἀναγινώσκεις;¶anaginōskeisG314to you?”

27And he answeredἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisG611, “You shall loveἀγαπήσειςagapēseisG25the LordκύριονkurionG2962your GodθεόνtheonG2316with allὅληςholēsG3650your heartκαρδίαςkardiasG2588,and with allὅλῃholēG3650your soulψυχῇpsuchēaG5590,and with allὅλῃholēG3650your strengthἰσχύϊischuiG2479,and with allὅλῃholēG3650your mindδιανοίᾳdianoiaG1271;and your neighborπλησίονplēsionG4139as yourselfG4572.”

28And He saidG3004to him,“You have answeredἀπεκρίθης·apekrithēsG611correctlyὀρθῶςorthōsG3723;doποίειpoieiG4160thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778and you will liveζήσῃ.¶zēsēG2198.”

29But wantingθέλωνthelōnG2309to justifyδικαιῶσαιdikaiōsaiG1344himselfἑαυτὸνhe'autonG1438,he saidG3004to JesusἸησοῦν·IēsounG2424, “And whoτίςtisG5101is my neighborπλησίον;plēsionG4139?”

30JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424repliedὑπολαβὼνhupolabōnG5274and saidG3004,“A manἄνθρωπόςanthrōposG444wasgoingG2597downκατέβαινενkatebainenG2597from JerusalemἸερουσαλὴμIerousalēmG2419to JerichoἸεριχὼIerichōG2410,and he encounteredπεριέπεσενperiepesenG4045robbersλῃσταῖςlēstaisG3027,and they strippedἐκδύσαντεςekdusantesG1562him andbeatπληγὰς ἐπιθέντεςplēgas epithentesG2007 G4127him, and wentG565awayἀπῆλθονapēlthonG565leavingἀφέντεςaphentesG863him halfG2253deadG2253.

31And by coincidenceσυγκυρίανsugkurianG4795a priestἱερεύςhi'ereusG2409was goingG2597downκατέβαινενkatebainenG2597on that roadὁδῷhodōG3598,and when he sawG3708him, he passedG492byG492onG492theG492otherG492sideG492.

32LikewiseὁμοίωςhomoiōsG3668a LeviteΛευίτηςLeuitēsG3019alsoG2532,when he cameἐλθὼνelthōnG2064to the placeτόπονtoponG5117and sawG3708him, passedG492byG492onG492theG492otherG492sideG492.

33But aSamaritanΣαμαρίτηςSamaritēsG4541who was on a journeyὁδεύωνhodeuōnG3593cameἦλθενēlthenG2064upon him; and when he sawG3708him, he feltG4697compassionἐσπλαγχνίσθη,esplagchnisthēG4697,

34and cameπροσελθὼνproselthōnG4334to him and bandagedG2611upG2611his woundsτραύματαtraumataG5134,pouringG2022oilἔλαιονelaionG1637and wineοἶνον.oinonG3631onG2022them;and he putἐπιβιβάσαςepibibasasG1913him on his ownἴδιονidionG2398animalκτῆνοςktēnosG2934,and broughtἤγαγενēgagenG71him to an innπανδοχεῖονpandocheionG3829and tookG1959careἐπεμελήθηepemelēthēG1959of him.

35On the nextαὔριονaurionG839dayG839he tookG1544outG1544twoδύοduoG1417denariiδηνάριαdēnariaG1220and gaveἔδωκενedōkenG1325them to the innkeeperπανδοχεῖpandocheiG3830and saidG3004, ‘TakeG1959careἐπιμελήθητιepimelēthētiG1959of him; and whateverὅ τι ἂνho ti anG3739 G5100 G302moreG4325you spendG4325,whenἐνenG1722I returnἐπανέρχεσθαίepanerchesthaiG1880,I will repayἀποδώσωapodōsōG591you.’

36WhichτίςtisG5101of theseτούτωνtoutōnG3778threeτριῶνtriōnG5140do you thinkδοκεῖdokeiG1380provedγεγονέναιgegonenaiG1096to be a neighborπλησίονplēsionG4139to the man who fellἐμπεσόντοςempesontosG1706into the robbers’λῃστάς;lēstasG3027hands?”

37And he saidG3004, “The one who showedποιήσαςpoiēsasG4160compassionἔλεοςeleosG1656to him.” ThenG1161JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidG3004to him,“Goπορεύου,poreuouG4198and doποίειpoieiG4160the sameὁμοίως.¶homoiōsG3668.”

38NowG1161as they were travelingπορεύεσθαιporeuesthaiG4198along, He enteredεἰσῆλθενeisēlthenG1525a villageκώμηνkōmēnG2968;and a womanγυνὴgunēG1135namedὀνόματιonomatiG3686MarthaΜάρθαMarthaG3136welcomedὑπεδέξατοhupedexatoG5264Him into her homeG3614.

39And she hadἦνēnG1510a sisterἀδελφὴadelphēG79calledκαλουμένηkaloumenēG2564MaryΜαριάμ.MariamG3137,whoἣhēG3739was alsoG2532seatedπαρακαθεσθεῖσαparakathestheisaG3869at the Lord’sκυρίουkuriouG2962feetπόδαςpodasG4228,and was listeningἤκουενēkouenG191to His wordλόγονlogonG3056.

40ButMarthaΜάρθαMarthaG3136was distractedπεριεσπᾶτοperiespatoG4049withallπολλὴνpollēnG4183her preparationsδιακονίαν.diakonianG1248;and she cameἐπιστᾶσαepistasaG2186upG2186to Himand saidG3004, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,do You not careμέλειmeleiG3199that my sisterἀδελφήadelphēG79has leftκατέλιπενkatelipenG2641me to doG1247the servingG1247by myselfμόνηνmonēnG3441?ThenοὖνounG3767tellG3004her to helpσυναντιλάβηται.¶sunantilabētaiG4878me.”

41But the Lordκύριος·kuriosG2962answeredἈποκριθεὶςApokritheisG611and saidG3004to her, “MarthaΜάρθαMarthaG3136,MarthaΜάρθα,MarthaG3136, you areworriedμεριμνᾷςmerimnasG3309and distractedθορυβάζῃthorubazēG2350by manyπολλά,pollaG4183thingsG4183;

42but onlyoneἑνὸςhenosG1520thingG1520is necessaryχρεία·chreiaG5532; forMaryΜαριὰμMariamG3137has chosenἐξελέξατοexelexatoG1586the goodἀγαθὴνagathēnG18partμερίδαmeridaG3310,whichἥτιςhētisG3748shall not be takenG851awayἀφαιρεθήσεταιaphairethēsetaiG851from her.”
