2And Ahaziahאֲחַזְיָ֜ה'a.chaz.YahH274fellוַיִּפֹּ֨לvai.yi.PolH5307throughבְּעַ֣דbe.'AdH1157the latticeהַשְּׂבָכָ֗הha.se.va.KhahH7639in his upperבַּעֲלִיָּת֛וֹba.'a.li.ya.ToH5944chamberH5944whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834wasin Samariaבְּשֹׁמְר֖וֹןbe.sho.me.RonH8111,and becameH2470illוַיָּ֑חַלvai.Ya.chalH2470.So he sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֣חvai.yish.LachH7971messengersמַלְאָכִ֔יםmal.'a.KhimH4397and saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Goלְכ֣וּle.KhuH1980,inquireדִרְשׁ֗וּdir.ShuH1875of Baal-zebubH1176,the godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Ekronעֶקְר֔וֹןek.RonH6138,whetherאִם־'im-H518I will recoverאֶחְיֶ֖ה'ech.YehH2421from thisזֶֽה׃ סZehH2088sicknessמֵחֳלִ֥יme.cho.LiH2483.”
3But the angelוּמַלְאַ֣ךְu.mal.'AkhH4397of the Lordיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068saidדִּבֶּר֙di.BerH1696toElijahאֵלִיָּ֣ה'e.li.YahH452the Tishbiteהַתִּשְׁבִּ֔יha.tish.BiH8664, “Ariseק֣וּםkumH6965,goעֲלֵ֔ה'a.LehH5927up to meetלִקְרַ֖אתlik.RatH7122the messengersמַלְאֲכֵ֣יmal.'a.KheiH4397of the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Samariaשֹׁמְר֑וֹןsho.me.RonH8111and sayוְדַבֵּ֣רve.da.BerH1696to them, ‘Is it becauseהַֽמִבְּלִ֤יha.mi.be.LiH4480H1097thereH369is noH369Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430in Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478thatyou are goingהֹֽלְכִ֔יםho.le.KhimH1980to inquireלִדְרֹ֕שׁlid.RoshH1875ofBaal-zebubH1176,the godאֱלֹהֵ֥י'e.lo.HeiH430of Ekronעֶקְרֽוֹן׃ek.RonH6138?’
4Now thereforeוְלָכֵן֙ve.la.KhenH3651thusכֹּֽה־koh-H3541saysאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068, ‘You shall not comeתֵרֵ֥דte.RedH3381downH3381from the bedהַמִּטָּ֞הha.mi.TahH4296whereאֲשֶׁר־ שָּׁ֛ם'a.Sher- shamH834H8033you have goneעָלִ֥יתָ'a.Li.taH5927up, but you shall surelyמ֣וֹתMotH4191dieתָּמ֑וּתta.MutH4191.’”Then Elijahאֵלִיָּֽה׃'e.li.YahH452departedוַיֵּ֖לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980.
6They saidוַיֹּאמְר֨וּvai.yo.me.RuH559to him, “A manאִ֣ישׁ׀'ishH376cameעָלָ֣ה'a.LahH5927up to meetלִקְרָאתֵ֗נוּlik.ra.Te.nuH7122us and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to us, ‘Goלְכ֣וּle.KhuH1980,returnשׁוּבוּ֮shu.VuH7725to the kingהַמֶּ֣לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834sentשָׁלַ֣חsha.LachH7971you and sayוְדִבַּרְתֶּ֣םve.di.bar.TemH1696to him, “Thusכֹּ֚הkohH3541saysאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068, ‘Is it becauseהַֽמִבְּלִ֤י מִמֶּ֖נָּהha.mi.be.Li mi.Me.nahH4480H1097thereH369is noH369Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430in Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478thatyou are sendingשֹׁלֵ֔חַsho.Le.achH7971to inquireלִדְרֹ֕שׁlid.RoshH1875of Baal-zebubH1176,the godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Ekronעֶקְר֑וֹןek.RonH6138?Thereforeלָ֠כֵןLa.khenH3651you shall not comeתֵרֵ֥דte.RedH3381downH3381from the bedהַמִּטָּ֞הha.mi.TahH4296whereאֲשֶׁר־ שָּׁ֛ם'a.Sher- shamH834H8033you have goneעָלִ֥יתָ'a.Li.taH5927up, but shall surelyמ֥וֹתMotH4191dieתָּמֽוּת׃ta.MutH4191.’”’”
7He saidוַיְדַבֵּ֣רvay.da.BerH1696to them, “Whatמֶ֚הmehH4100kindמִשְׁפַּ֣טmish.PatH4941of manהָאִ֔ישׁha.'IshH376was he whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834cameעָלָ֖ה'a.LahH5927up to meetלִקְרַאתְכֶ֑םlik.rat.KhemH7122you and spokeוַיְדַבֵּ֣רvay.da.BerH1696theseהָאֵֽלֶּה׃ha.'E.lehH428wordsהַדְּבָרִ֖יםha.de.va.RimH1697to you?”
8Theyansweredוַיֹּאמְר֣וּvai.yo.me.RuH559him, “He wasa hairyשֵׂעָ֔רse.'ArH8181manאִ֚ישׁ'ishH376with a leatherע֖וֹרorH5785girdleוְאֵז֥וֹרve.'e.ZorH232boundאָז֣וּר'a.ZurH247about his loinsבְּמָתְנָ֑יוbe.ma.te.NavH4975.”And he saidוַיֹּאמַ֕רvai.yo.MarH559, “It is Elijahאֵלִיָּ֥ה'e.li.YahH452the Tishbiteהַתִּשְׁבִּ֖יha.tish.BiH8664.”
9Then the kingsentוַיִּשְׁלַ֥חvai.yish.LachH7971to him a captainשַׂר־sar-H8269of fiftyחֲמִשִּׁ֖יםcha.mi.ShimH2572with his fiftyוַחֲמִשָּׁ֑יוva.cha.mi.ShavH2572.And he wentוַיַּ֣עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927up to him, and beholdוְהִנֵּה֙ve.hi.NehH2009,he was sittingיֹשֵׁב֙yo.ShevH3427on the topרֹ֣אשׁroshH7218of the hillהָהָ֔רha.HarH2022.And he saidוַיְדַבֵּ֣רvay.da.BerH1696to him, “O manאִ֚ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָֽאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,the kingהַמֶּ֥לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428saysדִּבֶּ֖רdi.BerH1696, ‘Comeרֵֽדָה׃Re.dahH3381downH3381.’”
10Elijahאֵלִיָּ֗הוּ'e.li.Ya.huH452repliedוַיַּעֲנֶ֣הvai.ya.'a.NehH6030to the captainשַׂ֣רsarH8269of fiftyהַחֲמִשִּׁים֒ha.cha.mi.ShimH2572, “Ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518I am a manאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376of Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430,let fireאֵשׁ֙'eshH784comeתֵּ֤רֶדTe.redH3381downH3381from heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064and consumeוְתֹאכַ֥לve.to.KhalH398you and your fiftyחֲמִשֶּׁ֑יךָcha.mi.Shei.khaH2572.”Then fireאֵשׁ֙'eshH784cameH3381downוַתֵּ֤רֶדva.Te.redH3381from heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064and consumedוַתֹּ֥אכַלva.To.khalH398him and his fiftyחֲמִשָּֽׁיו׃cha.mi.ShavH2572.
11So he againוַיָּ֜שָׁבvai.Ya.shovH7725sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֥חvai.yish.LachH7971to him anotherאַחֵ֖ר'a.CherH312captainשַׂר־sar-H8269of fiftyחֲמִשִּׁ֥יםcha.mi.ShimH2572with his fiftyוַחֲמִשָּׁ֑יוva.cha.mi.ShavH2572.And he saidוַיְדַבֵּ֣רvay.da.BerH1696to him, “O manאִ֚ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,thusכֹּֽה־koh-H3541saysאָמַ֥ר'a.MarH559the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428, ‘Comeרֵֽדָה׃Re.dahH3381downH3381quicklyמְהֵרָ֥הme.he.RahH4120.’”
12Elijahאֵלִיָּה֮'e.li.YahH452repliedוַיַּ֣עַןvai.Ya.'anH6030to them, “Ifאִם־'im-H518I am a manאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ha.'E.lo.HimH430,let fireאֵשׁ֙'eshH784comeתֵּ֤רֶדTe.redH3381downH3381from heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064and consumeוְתֹאכַ֥לve.to.KhalH398you and your fiftyחֲמִשֶּׁ֑יךָcha.mi.Shei.khaH2572.”Then the fireאֵשׁ־'esh-H784of Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430cameH3381downוַתֵּ֤רֶדva.Te.redH3381from heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064and consumedוַתֹּ֥אכַלva.To.khalH398him and his fiftyחֲמִשָּֽׁיו׃cha.mi.ShavH2572.
13So heagainוַיָּ֗שָׁבvai.Ya.shovH7725sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֛חvai.yish.LachH7971the captainשַׂר־sar-H8269of a thirdשְׁלִשִׁ֖יםshe.li.ShimH7992fiftyחֲמִשִּׁ֥יםcha.mi.ShimH2572with his fiftyוַחֲמִשָּׁ֑יוva.cha.mi.ShavH2572.When the thirdהַשְּׁלִישִׁ֜יha.she.li.ShiH7992captainשַׂר־sar-H8269of fiftyהַחֲמִשִּׁ֨יםha.cha.mi.ShimH2572wentוַיַּ֡עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927up, he cameוַיָּבֹא֩vai.ya.Vo'H935and bowedH3766downוַיִּכְרַ֥עvai.yikh.Ra'H3766on his kneesבִּרְכָּ֣יו׀bir.KavH1290beforeלְנֶ֣גֶדle.Ne.gedH5048Elijahאֵלִיָּ֗הוּ'e.li.Ya.huH452,and beggedוַיִּתְחַנֵּ֤ןvai.yit.cha.NenH2603him and saidוַיְדַבֵּ֣רvay.da.BerH1696to him, “O manאִ֚ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָֽאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,pleaseנָ֣אna'H4994let my lifeנַפְשִׁ֗יnaf.ShiH5315and the livesוְנֶ֨פֶשׁve.Ne.feshH5315of theseאֵ֛לֶּה'E.lehH428fiftyחֲמִשִּׁ֖יםcha.mi.ShimH2572servantsעֲבָדֶ֥יךָֽ'a.va.Dei.khaH5650of yours be preciousתִּֽיקַר־ti.kar-H3365in your sightבְּעֵינֶֽיךָ׃be.'ei.Nei.khaH5869.
14Beholdהִ֠נֵּהHi.nehH2009fireאֵשׁ֙'eshH784cameיָ֤רְדָהYa.re.dahH3381downH3381from heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064and consumedוַ֠תֹּאכַלVa.to.khalH398the firstהָרִאשֹׁנִ֖יםha.ri.sho.NimH7223twoשְׁנֵ֞יshe.NeiH8147captainsשָׂרֵ֧יsa.ReiH8269of fiftyהַחֲמִשִּׁ֛יםha.cha.mi.ShimH2572with their fiftiesחֲמִשֵּׁיהֶ֑םcha.mi.shei.HemH2572;but nowוְעַתָּ֕הve.'a.TahH6258let mylifeנַפְשִׁ֖יnaf.ShiH5315be preciousתִּיקַ֥רti.KarH3365in your sightבְּעֵינֶֽיךָ׃ סbe.'ei.Nei.khaH5869.”
15The angelמַלְאַ֤ךְmal.'AkhH4397of the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068saidוַיְדַבֵּ֞רvay.da.BerH1696to Elijahאֵ֣לִיָּ֔הוּ'e.li.Ya.huH452, “Goרֵ֣דredH3381downH3381with him;do not be afraidתִּירָ֖אti.Ra'H3372of him.” So he aroseוַיָּ֛קָםvai.Ya.komH6965and wentH3381downוַיֵּ֥רֶדvai.Ye.redH3381with him to the kingהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428.
