The Law of Burnt Offerings

1Thenthe Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068calledוַיִּקְרָ֖אvai.yik.Ra'H7121to Mosesמֹשֶׁ֑הmo.ShehH4872and spokeוַיְדַבֵּ֤רvay.da.BerH1696to him from the tentמֵאֹ֥הֶלme.'O.helH168of meetingמוֹעֵ֖דmo.'EdH4150,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

2“Speakדַּבֵּ֞רda.BerH1696to the sonsבְּנֵ֤יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478and sayוְאָמַרְתָּ֣ve.'a.mar.TaH559to them, ‘Whenכִּֽי־ki-H3588anyH120manH120of you bringsיַקְרִ֥יבyak.RivH7126anofferingקָרְבָּ֖ןkor.banH7133to the Lordלַֽיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068,you shall bringתַּקְרִ֖יבוּtak.Ri.vuH7126yourofferingקָרְבַּנְכֶֽם׃ka.re.ban.KhemH7133of animalsהַבְּהֵמָ֗הha.be.he.MahH929fromthe herdהַבָּקָר֙ha.ba.KarH1241or the flockהַצֹּ֔אןha.TzonH6629.

3Ifאִם־'im-H518his offeringקָרְבָּנוֹ֙ka.re.ba.NoH7133is aburntעֹלָ֤ה'o.LahH5930offeringH5930from the herdהַבָּקָ֔רha.ba.KarH1241,he shall offerיַקְרִיבֶ֑נּוּyak.ri.Ve.nuH7126it, a maleזָכָ֥רza.KharH2145withoutH8549defectH8549;he shall offerיַקְרִ֣יבyak.RivH7126itat the doorwayפֶּ֝תַחPe.tachH6607of the tentאֹ֤הֶל'O.helH168of meetingמוֹעֵד֙mo.'EdH4150,that he may be acceptedלִרְצֹנ֖וֹlir.tzo.NoH7522beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

4He shall layוְסָמַ֣ךְve.sa.MakhH5564his handיָד֔וֹya.DoH3027on the headרֹ֣אשׁroshH7218of the burntהָעֹלָ֑הha.'o.LahH5930offeringH5930,that it may be acceptedוְנִרְצָ֥הve.nir.TzahH7521for him to makeלְכַפֵּ֥רle.kha.PerH3722atonementH3722on his behalfH5921.

5He shall slayוְשָׁחַ֛טve.sha.ChatH7819theyoungבֶּ֥ןbenH1121bullהַבָּקָ֖רha.ba.KarH1241beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068;and Aaron’sאַהֲרֹ֤ן'a.ha.RonH175sonsבְּנֵ֨יbe.NeiH1121the priestsהַֽכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ha.ko.ha.NimH3548shall offerוְ֠הִקְרִיבוּVe.hik.ri.vuH7126upthe bloodהַדָּ֔םha.DamH1818andsprinkleוְזָרְק֨וּve.za.re.KuH2236the bloodהַדָּ֤םha.DamH1818aroundסָבִ֔יבsa.VivH5439on the altarהַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ha.miz.Be.achH4196that is at the doorwayפֶּ֖תַחPe.tachH6607of the tentאֹ֥הֶל'O.helH168of meetingמוֹעֵֽד׃mo.'EdH4150.

6He shall then skinוְהִפְשִׁ֖יטve.hif.ShitH6584the burntהָעֹלָ֑הha.'o.LahH5930offeringH5930and cutוְנִתַּ֥חve.ni.TachH5408it into its piecesלִנְתָחֶֽיהָ׃lin.ta.Chei.haH5409.

7The sonsבְּנֵ֨יbe.NeiH1121of Aaronאַהֲרֹ֧ן'a.ha.RonH175the priestהַכֹּהֵ֛ןha.ko.HenH3548shall putוְ֠נָתְנוּVe.na.te.nuH5414fireאֵ֖שׁ'eshH784on the altarהַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַha.miz.Be.achH4196and arrangeוְעָרְכ֥וּve.'a.re.KhuH6186woodעֵצִ֖ים'e.TzimH6086on the fireהָאֵֽשׁ׃ha.'EshH784.

8Then Aaron’sאַהֲרֹן֙'a.ha.RonH175sonsבְּנֵ֤יbe.NeiH1121the priestsהַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔יםha.Ko.ha.NimH3548shall arrangeוְעָרְכ֗וּve.'a.re.KhuH6186the piecesהַנְּתָחִ֔יםha.ne.ta.ChimH5409,the headהָרֹ֖אשׁha.RoshH7218and thesuetהַפָּ֑דֶרha.Pa.derH6309overH5921the woodהָעֵצִים֙ha.'e.TzimH6086whichH834is on the fireהָאֵ֔שׁha.'EshH784that is on the altarהַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃ha.miz.Be.achH4196.

9Itsentrailsוְקִרְבּ֥וֹve.kir.BoH7130,however, and its legsוּכְרָעָ֖יוu.khe.ra.'AvH3767he shall washיִרְחַ֣ץyir.ChatzH7364with waterבַּמָּ֑יִםba.Ma.yimH4325. Andthe priestהַכֹּהֵ֤ןha.ko.HenH3548shall offerH6999up in smokeוְהִקְטִ֨ירve.hik.TirH6999allהַכֹּל֙ha.KolH3605of it on the altarהַמִּזְבֵּ֔חָהha.miz.Be.chahH4196for a burntעֹלָ֛ה'o.LahH5930offeringH5930,an offeringאִשֵּׁ֥ה'i.ShehH801by fireH801ofa soothingנִיח֖וֹחַni.Cho.achH5207aromaרֵֽיחַ־rei.ach-H7381to the Lordלַֽיהוָֽה׃ סla.Yah.wehH3068.

10‘But ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518his offeringקָרְבָּנ֧וֹka.re.ba.NoH7133is from the flockהַצֹּ֨אןha.TzonH6629,of the sheepהַכְּשָׂבִ֛יםha.ke.sa.VimH3775orא֥וֹ'oH176of the goatsהָעִזִּ֖יםha.'i.ZimH5795,for a burntלְעֹלָ֑הle.'o.LahH5930offeringH5930,he shall offerיַקְרִיבֶֽנּוּ׃yak.ri.Ve.nuH7126it amaleזָכָ֥רza.KharH2145withoutH8549defectH8549.

11He shall slayוְשָׁחַ֨טve.sha.ChatH7819it on the sideיֶ֧רֶךְYe.rekhH3409of the altarהַמִּזְבֵּ֛חַha.miz.Be.achH4196northwardצָפֹ֖נָהtza.Fo.nahH6828beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,and Aaron’sאַהֲרֹ֨ן'a.ha.RonH175sonsבְּנֵי֩be.NeiH1121the priestsהַכֹּהֲנִ֧יםha.ko.ha.NimH3548shall sprinkleוְזָרְק֡וּve.za.re.KuH2236its bloodדָּמ֛וֹda.MoH1818aroundסָבִֽיב׃sa.VivH5439on the altarהַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַha.miz.Be.achH4196.

12He shall then cutוְנִתַּ֤חve.ni.TachH5408it into its piecesלִנְתָחָ֔יוlin.ta.ChavH5409with its headרֹאשׁ֖וֹro.ShoH7218and itssuetפִּדְר֑וֹpid.RoH6309,and the priestהַכֹּהֵן֙ha.ko.HenH3548shall arrangeוְעָרַ֤ךְve.'a.RakhH6186them on the woodהָֽעֵצִים֙ha.'e.TzimH6086whichH834is on the fireהָאֵ֔שׁha.'EshH784that is on the altarהַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃ha.miz.Be.achH4196.

13The entrailsוְהַקֶּ֥רֶבve.ha.Ke.revH7130,however, and the legsוְהַכְּרָעַ֖יִםve.ha.ke.ra.'A.yimH3767he shall washיִרְחַ֣ץyir.ChatzH7364with waterבַּמָּ֑יִםba.Ma.yimH4325. Andthe priestהַכֹּהֵ֤ןha.ko.HenH3548shall offerוְהִקְרִ֨יבve.hik.RivH7126allהַכֹּל֙ha.KolH3605of it, and offerH6999it up in smokeוְהִקְטִ֣ירve.hik.TirH6999on the altarהַמִּזְבֵּ֔חָהha.miz.Be.chahH4196;it is a burntעֹלָ֣ה'o.LahH5930offeringH5930,an offeringאִשֵּׁ֛ה'i.ShehH801by fireH801of a soothingנִיחֹ֖חַni.Cho.achH5207aromaרֵ֥יחַRei.achH7381to the Lordלַיהוָֽה׃ פla.Yah.wehH3068.

14‘But ifוְאִ֧םve.'ImH518his offeringקָרְבָּנ֖וֹka.re.ba.NoH7133to the Lordלַֽיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068is a burntעֹלָ֥ה'o.LahH5930offeringH5930of birdsהָע֛וֹףha.'ofH5775,then he shall bringוְהִקְרִ֣יבve.hik.RivH7126his offeringקָרְבָּנֽוֹ׃ka.re.ba.NoH7133from theturtledovesהַתֹּרִ֗יםha.to.RimH8449orא֛וֹ'oH176from youngבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121pigeonsהַיּוֹנָ֖הhai.yo.NahH3123.

15The priestהַכֹּהֵן֙ha.ko.HenH3548shall bringוְהִקְרִיב֤וֹve.hik.ri.VoH7126it to the altarהַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַha.miz.Be.achH4196,and wringH4454offH4454its headרֹאשׁ֔וֹro.ShoH7218and offerH6999it up in smokeוְהִקְטִ֖ירve.hik.TirH6999on the altarהַמִּזְבֵּ֑חָהha.miz.Be.chahH4196;and its bloodדָמ֔וֹda.MoH1818is to be drainedוְנִמְצָ֣הve.nim.TzahH4680outon the sideקִ֥ירkirH7023of the altarהַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃ha.miz.Be.achH4196.

16He shall also takeH5493awayH5493its cropמֻרְאָת֖וֹmur.'a.ToH4760with its feathersבְּנֹצָתָ֑הּbe.no.tza.TahH5133and castוְהִשְׁלִ֨יךְve.hish.LikhH7993it besideאֵ֤צֶל'E.tzelH681the altarהַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ha.miz.Be.achH4196eastwardקֵ֔דְמָהKe.de.mahH6924,to the placeמְק֖וֹםme.KomH4725of theashesהַדָּֽשֶׁן׃ha.Da.shenH1880.

17Then he shall tearוְשִׁסַּ֨עve.shi.Sa'H8156it by its wingsבִכְנָפָיו֮vikh.na.FavH3671, butshall not severיַבְדִּיל֒yav.DilH914it.And the priestהַכֹּהֵן֙ha.ko.HenH3548shall offerH6999it up in smokeוְהִקְטִ֨ירve.hik.TirH6999on the altarהַמִּזְבֵּ֔חָהha.miz.Be.chahH4196on the woodהָעֵצִ֖יםha.'e.TzimH6086whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834is on the fireהָאֵ֑שׁha.'EshH784;it is a burntעֹלָ֣ה'o.LahH5930offeringH5930,an offeringאִשֵּׁ֛ה'i.ShehH801by fireH801of a soothingנִיחֹ֖חַni.Cho.achH5207aromaרֵ֥יחַRei.achH7381to the Lordלַיהוָֽה׃ סla.Yah.wehH3068.
