John 18:2-23
And JudasG2455 alsoG2532, who deliveredG3860 him up, knew the placeG5117, because JesusG2424 was oftenG4178 there, in company with his disciplesG3101.
JudasG2455 thereforeG3767, having got the band, and officersG5257 of the chiefG749 priestsG749 and PhariseesG5330, comesG2064 there with lanterns and torches and weaponsG3696.
JesusG2424 thereforeG3767, knowing all thingsG3956 that were comingG2064 upon him, wentG1831 forthG1831 and saidG3004 to them, Whom seekG2212 ye?
They answeredG611 him, JesusG2424 the Nazaraean. JesusG2424 saysG3004 to them, I amG1510 [he]. And JudasG2455 alsoG2532, who deliveredG3860 him up, stoodG2476 with them.
WhenG5613 thereforeG3767 he saidG3004 to them, I amG1510 [he], they wentG565 awayG565 backward and fellG4098 to the groundG5476.
He demanded of them thereforeG3767 againG3825, Whom seekG2212 ye? And they saidG3004, JesusG2424 the Nazaraean.
JesusG2424 answeredG611, I toldG3004 you that I amG1510 [he]: if thereforeG3767 ye seekG2212 me, let these goG5217 awayG5217;
that the wordG3056 might be fulfilled which he spokeG3004, [As to] those whom thou hast givenG1325 me, I have not lostG622 oneG3762 of them.
SimonG4613 PeterG4074 thereforeG3767, having a swordG3162, drewG1670 it, and smote the bondman of the highG749 priestG749 and cutG609 off his rightG1188 earG5621; and the bondman's nameG3686 wasG1510 Malchus.
JesusG2424 thereforeG3767 saidG3004 to PeterG4074, PutG906 the swordG3162 into the sheath; the cupG4221 which the FatherG3962 has givenG1325 me, shall I not drinkG4095 it?
The band thereforeG3767, and the chiliarch, and the officersG5257 of the JewsG2453, took JesusG2424 and boundG1210 him:
and they ledG71 him awayG71 to AnnasG452 firstG4413; for he wasG1510 father-in-law to CaiaphasG2533, who wasG1510 highG749 priestG749 that yearG1763.
But it wasG1510 CaiaphasG2533 who counselled the JewsG2453 that it wasG1510 better that oneG1520 manG444 should perish for the peopleG2992.
NowG1161 SimonG4613 PeterG4074 followedG190 JesusG2424, and the otherG243 discipleG3101. But that discipleG3101 wasG1510 known to the highG749 priestG749, and went in with JesusG2424 into the palace of the highG749 priestG749;
but PeterG4074 stoodG2476 at the doorG2374 without. The otherG243 discipleG3101 thereforeG3767, who was known to the highG749 priestG749, wentG1831 out and spokeG3004 to the porteress and broughtG1521 in PeterG4074.
The maid thereforeG3767, who wasG1510 porteress, saysG3004 to PeterG4074, Art thou alsoG2532 of the disciplesG3101 of this manG444? He saysG3004, I amG1510 not.
But the bondmen and officersG5257, having madeG4160 a fireG439 of coals (for it wasG1510 coldG5592), stoodG2476 and warmedG2328 themselves; and PeterG4074 wasG1510 standingG2476 with them and warmingG2328 himself.
The highG749 priestG749 thereforeG3767 demanded of JesusG2424 concerningG4012 his disciplesG3101 and concerningG4012 his doctrine.
JesusG2424 answeredG611 him, I spokeG2980 openlyG3954 to the worldG2889; I taughtG1321 alwaysG3842 in [the] synagogueG4864 and in the temple, whereG3699 all the JewsG2453 comeG4905 togetherG4905, and in secretG2927 I have spokenG2980 nothing.
WhyG5101 demandest thou of me? Demand of those who have heardG191, what I have spokenG2980 to them; beholdG2396, they know what I have saidG3004.
But as he saidG3004 these thingsG3778, oneG1520 of the officersG5257 who stoodG3936 by gaveG1325 a blow on the face to JesusG2424, sayingG3004, Answerest thou the highG749 priestG749 thusG3779?
JesusG2424 answeredG611 him, If I have spokenG2980 evilG2556, bearG3140 witnessG3140 of the evilG2556; but if wellG2573, whyG5101 smitest thou me?
