John 9
Darby Bible
1And as he passed on, he sawG3708 a manG444 blindG5185 from birth. 2And his disciplesG3101 askedG2065 him, sayingG3004, RabbiG4461, who sinnedG264, this [manG3778] or his parentsG1118, that he should be bornG1080 blindG5185? 3JesusG2424 answeredG611, Neither has this [manG3778] sinnedG264 nor his parentsG1118, but that the worksG2041 of 1GodG2316 should be manifestedG5319 in him. 4I must workG2041 the worksG2041 of him that has sentG3992 me while it isG1510 dayG2250. [The] nightG3571 isG1510 comingG2064, whenG3753 no oneG3762 can workG2041. 5As long as I amG1510 in the worldG2889, I amG1510 [the] lightG5457 of the worldG2889. 6Having saidG3004 these thingsG3778, he spatG4429 on the groundG5476 and madeG4160 mud of the spittle, and put the mud, as ointment, on his eyesG3788. 7And he saidG3004 to him, GoG5217, washG3538 in the poolG2861 of SiloamG4611, which is interpreted, SentG649. He wentG565 thereforeG3767 and washedG3538, and cameG2064 seeingG991. 8The neighbours thereforeG3767, and those who used to seeG2334 him beforeG4387, that he wasG1510 a beggar, saidG3004, IsG1510 not this he that wasG1510 sittingG2521 and begging? 9Some saidG3004, It isG1510 he; othersG243 saidG3004, No, but he isG1510 like him: he saidG3004, It isG1510 I. 10They saidG3004 thereforeG3767 to him, HowG4459 have thine eyesG3788 been openedG455? 11He answeredG611 [and saidG3004], A manG444 called JesusG2424 madeG4160 mud and anointed mineG1473 eyesG3788, and saidG3004 to me, GoG5217 to SiloamG4611 and washG3538: and having goneG565 and washedG3538, I saw. 12They saidG3004 therefore to him, WhereG4226 isG1510 he? He saysG3004, I do not know. 13They bringG71 him who was before blindG5185 to the PhariseesG5330. 14NowG1161 it wasG1510 sabbathG4521 when JesusG2424 madeG4160 the mud and openedG455 his eyesG3788. 15The PhariseesG5330 thereforeG3767 alsoG2532 againG3825 askedG2065 him howG4459 he receivedG308 his sightG308. And he saidG3004 to them, He putG2007 mud upon mineG1473 eyesG3788, and I washedG3538, and I seeG991. 16Some of the PhariseesG5330 thereforeG3767 saidG3004, This manG444 isG1510 not of 2GodG2316, for he does not keepG5083 the sabbathG4521. OthersG243 saidG3004, HowG4459 can a sinfulG268 manG444 performG4160 suchG5108 signsG4592? And there wasG1510 a divisionG4978 among them. 17They sayG3004 thereforeG3767 againG3825 to the blindG5185 [manG5185], What dost thou sayG3004 of him, that he has openedG455 thine eyesG3788? And he saidG3004, He isG1510 a prophetG4396. 18The JewsG2453 thereforeG3767 did not believeG4100 concerningG4012 him that he wasG1510 blindG5185 and had receivedG308 sightG308, until they had calledG5455 the parentsG1118 of him that had receivedG308 sightG308. 19And they askedG2065 them sayingG3004, This isG1510 your sonG5207, of whom ye sayG3004 that he wasG1510 bornG1080 blindG5185: howG4459 then does he now seeG991? 20His parentsG1118 answeredG611 [them] and saidG3004, We know that this isG1510 our sonG5207, and that he wasG1510 bornG1080 blindG5185; 21but howG4459 he nowG1161 seesG991 we do not know, or who has openedG455 his eyesG3788 we do not know. He is of ageG2244: askG2065 him; he will speakG2980 concerningG4012 himself. 22His parentsG1118 saidG3004 these thingsG3778 because they fearedG5399 the JewsG2453, for the JewsG2453 had alreadyG2235 agreed that if any oneG5100 confessedG3670 him [to be the] ChristG5547, he should be excommunicated from the synagogueG656. 23On this accountG1223 his parentsG1118 saidG3004, He is of ageG2244: askG1905 him. 24They called thereforeG3767 a secondG1208 timeG1208 the manG444 who had beenG1510 blindG5185, and saidG3004 to him, GiveG1325 gloryG1391 to 3GodG2316: we know that this manG444 isG1510 sinfulG268. 25He answeredG611 thereforeG3767, If he isG1510 sinfulG268 I know not. OneG1520 thingG1520 I know, that, beingG1510 blindG5185 [before], nowG737 I seeG991. 26And they saidG3004 to him again, What did he do to thee? howG4459 openedG455 he thine eyesG3788? 27He answeredG611 them, I toldG3004 you alreadyG2235 and ye did not hearG191: whyG5101 do ye desireG2309 to hearG191 againG3825? do ye alsoG2532 wishG2309 to becomeG1096 his disciplesG3101? 28They railed at him, and saidG3004, Thou art his discipleG3101, but we areG1510 disciplesG3101 of MosesG3475. 29We know that 4GodG2316 spokeG2980 to MosesG3475; but [as to] this [manG3778], we know not whence he isG1510. 30The manG444 answeredG611 and saidG3004 to them, Now in this isG1510 a wonderful thingG3778, that ye do not know whence he isG1510, and he has openedG455 mineG1473 eyesG3788. 31[But] we know that 5GodG2316 does not hearG191 sinnersG268; but if any oneG5100 beG1510 6God-fearing and do his will, him he hearsG191. 32Since time was, it has not been heardG191 that any oneG5100 openedG455 the eyesG3788 of oneG5100 bornG1080 blindG5185. 33If this [manG3778] wereG1510 not of 7GodG2316 he would beG1510 ableG1410 to do nothing. 34They answeredG611 and saidG3004 to him, Thou hast been wholly bornG1080 in sinsG266, and thou teachest us? And they castG1544 him out. 35JesusG2424 heardG191 that they had castG1544 him out, and having foundG2147 him, he saidG3004 to him, Thou, dost thou believeG4100 on the SonG5207 of 8God? 36He answeredG611 and saidG3004, And who isG1510 he, LordG2962, that I may believeG4100 on him? 37And JesusG2424 saidG3004 to him, Thou hast both seenG3708 him, and he that speaksG2980 with thee isG1510 he. 38And he saidG5346, I believeG4100, LordG2962: and he did him homage. 39And JesusG2424 saidG3004, For judgmentG2917 am I comeG2064 into this worldG2889, that they which seeG991 not may seeG991, and they which seeG991 may becomeG1096 blindG5185. 40And [some] of the PhariseesG5330 who wereG1510 with him heardG191 these things, and they saidG3004 to him, AreG1510 we blindG5185 alsoG2532? 41JesusG2424 saidG3004 to them, If ye wereG1510 blindG5185 ye would not have sinG266; but nowG1161 ye sayG3004, We seeG991, your sinG266 remainsG3306.
