12AndthisτοῦτοtoutoG3778will bea signσημεῖον·sēmeionG4592for you: you will findεὑρήσετεheurēseteG2147a babyβρέφοςbrephosG1025wrappedG4683inG4683clothsG4683and lyingκείμενονkeimenonG2749in amangerφάτνῃ.phatnēG5336.”

13And suddenlyἐξαίφνηςexaiphnēsG1810there appearedἐγένετοegenetoG1096with the angelἀγγέλῳangelōG32a multitudeπλῆθοςplēthosG4128of the heavenlyοὐρανίουouraniouG3770armyστρατιᾶςstratiasG4756of angelspraisingαἰνούντωνainountōnG134GodθεὸνtheonG2316and sayingλεγόντων·legontōnG3004,

14“GloryδόξαdoxaG1391to Godθεῷ,theōG2316in the highestὑψίστοιςhupsistoisG5310,And on earthγῆςgēsG1093peaceεἰρήνηeirēnēG1515amongG1722peopleἀνθρώποιςanthrōpoisG444with whom He is pleasedεὐδοκίας.¶eudokiasG2107.”

15WhenὡςhōsG5613the angelsἄγγελοι,angeloiG32had departedἀπῆλθονapēlthonG565from them into heavenοὐρανὸνouranonG3772,the shepherdsποιμένεςpoimenesG4166begansayingἐλάλουνelalounG2980to oneἀλλήλους·allēlousG240anotherG240, “Let’s goδιέλθωμενdielthōmenG1330straightG1330to BethlehemΒηθλέεμBēthleemG965,thenδὴdēG1211,and seeG3708thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778thingῥῆμαrhēmaG4487that has happenedG1096,whichὃhoG3739the LordκύριοςkuriosG2962has madeG1107knownG1107to us.”

16And they cameἦλθανēlthanG2064in a hurryσπεύσαντεςspeusantesG4692and foundG429their wayG429toG429MaryΜαριὰμMariamG3137and JosephἸωσὴφIōsēphG2501,and the babyβρέφοςbrephosG1025as He layκείμενονkeimenonG2749in themangerφάτνῃ.phatnēG5336.

17When they had seenG3708Him,they madeG1107knownG1107the statementῥήματοςrhēmatosG4487which had been toldλαληθέντοςlalēthentosG2980them aboutG4012thisτούτου.toutouG3778ChildπαιδίουpaidiouG3813.

18And allπάντεςpantesG3956who heardἀκούσαντεςakousantesG191it wereG2296amazedG2296aboutπερὶperiG4012the things which were toldλαληθέντωνlalēthentōnG2980them by the shepherdsποιμένωνpoimenōnG4166.

19But MaryΜαριὰμMariamG3137treasuredσυνετήρειsunetēreiG4933allπάνταpantaG3956theseταῦταtautaG3778thingsῥήματαrhēmataG4487,ponderingσυμβάλλουσαsumballousaG4820them in her heartκαρδίᾳkardiaG2588.

20And the shepherdsποιμένεςpoimenesG4166wentG5290backG5290,glorifyingδοξάζοντεςdoxazontesG1392and praisingαἰνοῦντεςainountesG134GodθεὸνtheonG2316for allπᾶσινpasinG3956that they had heardἤκουσανēkousanG191and seenG3708,justG2531asG2531had been toldἐλαλήθηelalēthēG2980them.

21And whenὅτεhoteG3753eightὀκτὼoktōG3638daysἡμέραιhēmeraiG2250were completedG4092so that it was time for His circumcisionπεριτεμεῖνperitemeinG4059,He was alsoG2532namedἐκλήθη ὄνομαeklēthē onomaG2564 G3686JesusἸησοῦς,IēsousG2424, the namegivenκληθὲνklēthenG2564by the angelἀγγέλουangelouG32beforeπρὸproG4253He was conceivedσυλλημφθῆναιsullēmphthēnaiG4815in the wombκοιλίᾳ.koiliaG2836.

22And whenὅτεhoteG3753the daysἡμέραιhēmeraiG2250fortheir purificationκαθαρισμοῦkatharismouG2512accordingκατὰkataG2596to the LawνόμονnomonG3551of MosesΜωϋσέως,MōuseōsG3475were completedG4092,they broughtG321Him upG321to JerusalemἹεροσόλυμαHi'erosolumaG2414to presentπαραστῆσαιparastēsaiG3936Him to the LordκυρίῳkuriōG2962

23(as it is writtenγέγραπταιgegraptaiG1125in the LawνόμῳnomōG3551of the LordκυρίουkuriouG2962: “EveryπᾶνpanG3956firstbornmaleG733that opensδιανοῖγονdianoigonG1272the wombμήτρανmētranG3388shall be calledκληθήσεται·klēthēsetaiG2564holyἅγιονhagionG40to the LordκυρίῳkuriōG2962”),

24and to offerδοῦναιdounaiG1325a sacrificeθυσίανthusianG2378accordingκατὰkataG2596to what has been statedG3004in the LawνόμῳnomōG3551of the Lordκυρίου·kuriouG2962: “A pairζεῦγοςzeugosG2201of turtledovesτρυγόνωνtrugonōnG5167orἢēG2228twoδύοduoG1417youngG3556dovesπεριστερῶν.¶peristerōnG4058.”

25And there was a manἄνθρωποςanthrōposG444in JerusalemἸερουσαλὴμIerousalēmG2419whoseᾧhōG3739nameὄνομαonomaG3686was SimeonΣυμεὼνSumeōnG4826;and thisοὗτοςhoutosG3778manἄνθρωποςanthrōposG444wasrighteousδίκαιοςdikaiosG1342and devoutεὐλαβὴςeulabēsG2126,lookingG4327forwardG4327toG4327the consolationπαράκλησινparaklēsinG3874of IsraelἸσραήλ·IsraēlG2474;and the HolyἅγιονhagionG40SpiritπνεῦμαpneumaG4151was upon him.

26Andit had beenἦνēnG1510revealedκεχρηματισμένονkechrēmatismenonG5537to him by the HolyἁγίουhagiouG40SpiritπνεύματοςpneumatosG4151that he would notseeG3708deathθάνατονthanatonG2288beforeπρὶνprinG4250he had seenG3708the Lord’sκυρίουkuriouG2962ChristχριστὸνchristonG5547.

27And he cameἦλθενēlthenG2064by the SpiritπνεύματιpneumatiG4151into the templeG2413;and whenG1722the parentsγονεῖςgoneisG1118broughtG1521inG1521the childπαιδίονpaidionG3813JesusἸησοῦνIēsounG2424,to carryG4160outG4160for Him the customεἰθισμένονeithismenonG1480of the LawνόμουnomouG3551,

28thenG2532he tookἐδέξατοedexatoG1209Him in his armsἀγκάλαςagkalasG43,and blessedεὐλόγησενeulogēsenG2127GodθεὸνtheonG2316,and saidG3004,

29“NowνῦνnunG3568,Lordδέσποτα,despotaG1203,You are lettingG630Your bond-servantδοῦλόνdoulonG1401departG630in peaceεἰρήνῃeirēnēG1515,AccordingκατὰkataG2596to Your wordῥῆμάrhēmaG4487;

30For my eyesὀφθαλμοίophthalmoiG3788haveseenG3708Your salvationσωτήριόνsōtērionG4992,

31WhichὃhoG3739You have preparedἡτοίμασαςhētoimasasG2090in the presenceπρόσωπονprosōponG4383of allπάντωνpantōnG3956the peoplesλαῶν,laōnG2992:

32A lightφῶςphōsG5457for revelationἀποκάλυψινapokalupsinG602for the GentilesἐθνῶνethnōnG1484,And the gloryδόξανdoxanG1391of Your peopleλαοῦlaouG2992IsraelἸσραήλ.¶IsraēlG2474.”

33And His fatherπατὴρpatērG3962andmotherμήτηρmētērG3384wereG2296amazedG2296at the things which were being saidλαλουμένοιςlaloumenoisG2980aboutπερὶperiG4012Him.

34And SimeonΣυμεὼνSumeōnG4826blessedεὐλόγησενeulogēsenG2127them and saidG3004toHis motherμητέραmēteraG3384MaryΜαριὰμMariamG3137, “BeholdἰδοὺidouG2400,thisοὗτοςhoutosG3778Childis appointedκεῖταιkeitaiG2749forthe fallπτῶσινptōsinG4431andriseἀνάστασινanastasinG386of manyπολλῶνpollōnG4183in IsraelἸσραὴλIsraēlG2474,and as a signσημεῖονsēmeionG4592to beopposedἀντιλεγόμενον.antilegomenonG483--

35and a swordῥομφαίαrhomphaiaG4501will pierceδιελεύσεταιdieleusetaiG1330your ownαὐτῆςautēsG846soulψυχὴνpsuchēnG5590--toG3704theG3704endG3704thatG3704thoughtsδιαλογισμοί.¶dialogismoiG1261from manyπολλῶνpollōnG4183heartsκαρδιῶνkardiōnG2588may be revealedἀποκαλυφθῶσινapokaluphthōsinG601.”

36And there was aprophetessπροφῆτις,prophētisG4398,AnnaἍνναHannaG451,the daughterθυγάτηρthugatērG2364of PhanuelΦανουήλ,PhanouēlG5323, ofthe tribeφυλῆςphulēsG5443of AsherἈσήρ·AsērG768.She was advancedπροβεβηκυῖαprobebēkuiaG4260inyearsG2250and had livedζήσασαzēsasaG2198with herhusbandἀνδρὸςandrosG435for sevenἑπτὰheptaG2033yearsG2250afterἀπὸapoG575hermarriageπαρθενίαςpartheniasG3932,

37and thenas a widowχήραchēraG5503to the ageἐτῶνetōnG2094of eighty-fourὀγδοήκοντα τεσσάρωνogdoēkonta tessarōnG3589 G5064.She did not leaveἀφίστατοaphistatoG868the templeG2413grounds,servingλατρεύουσαlatreuousaG3000nightνύκταnuktaG3571and dayἡμέραν·hēmeranG2250withfastsνηστείαιςnēsteiaisG3521and prayersδεήσεσινdeēsesinG1162.

38And at that veryG846momentὥρᾳhōraG5610she cameἐπιστᾶσαepistasaG2186upG2186and begangivingG437thanksG437to GodθεῷtheōG2316,and continued to speakἐλάλειelaleiG2980aboutπερὶperiG4012Him to allπᾶσινpasinG3956thoseG3588who werelookingG4327forwardG4327toG4327the redemptionλύτρωσινlutrōsinG3085of JerusalemἸερουσαλήμ.¶IerousalēmG2419.

39And whenὡςhōsG5613His parentshad completedἐτέλεσανetelesanG5055everythingπάνταpantaG3956inG2596accordanceG2596withG2596the LawνόμονnomonG3551of the Lordκυρίου,kuriouG2962,they returnedἐπέστρεψανepestrepsanG1994to GalileeΓαλιλαίανGalilaianG1056, totheir ownἑαυτῶνhe'autōnG1438cityπόλινpolinG4172of NazarethΝαζαρέθ.¶NazarethG3478.

40NowδὲdeG1161the ChildπαιδίονpaidionG3813continued to growηὔξανενēuxanenG837and to becomeG2901strongG2901,increasingπληρούμενονplēroumenonG4137in wisdomσοφίᾳ,sophiaG4678;and the favorχάριςcharisG5485of GodθεοῦtheouG2316was upon Him.
