Jeremiah 20
1And Pashur the sonH1121 of ImmerH564, the priestH3548 — and he was chiefH5057 officerH5057 in the houseH1004 of Jehovah — heardH8085 JeremiahH3414 prophesyH5012 these thingsH1697. 2And Pashur smote JeremiahH3414 the prophetH5030, and putH5414 him in the stocksH4115 that were in the upperH5945 gateH8179 of BenjaminH1144, which was in the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 3And it came to pass the nextH4283 dayH4283, that Pashur broughtH3318 forthH3318 JeremiahH3414 out of the stocksH4115; and JeremiahH3414 saidH559 unto him, Jehovah hath not calledH7121 thy nameH8034 Pashur, but Magor-missabib. 4For thusH3541 saith Jehovah: Behold, I makeH5414 thee a terrorH4032 to thyself, and to all thy friendsH157; and they shall fallH5307 by the swordH2719 of their enemiesH341, and thine eyesH5869 shall seeH7200 [it]; and I will giveH5414 all JudahH3063 into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and he shall carry them captive into BabylonH894, and shall smite them with the swordH2719. 5And, I will giveH5414 all the wealthH2633 of this cityH5892, and all its gains, and all its preciousH3366 things, and all the treasuresH214 of the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063, will I giveH5414 into the handH3027 of their enemiesH341; and they shall makeH5414 them a prey, and takeH3947 them, and carry them to BabylonH894. 6And thou, Pashur, and all that dwellH3427 in thy houseH1004 shall goH935 into captivityH7628; and thou shalt comeH935 to BabylonH894, and there thou shalt dieH4191, and there thou shalt be buriedH6912, thou and all thy friendsH157 to whom thou hast prophesiedH5012 falsehoodH8267. 7Jehovah, thou hast enticedH6601 me, and I wasH1961 enticedH6601; thou hast laid holdH2388 of me, and hast prevailedH3201; I amH1961 becomeH1961 a derision the whole dayH3117: every one mocketh me. 8For as oft as I speakH1696, I cryH2199 out; I proclaimH7121 violenceH2555 and spoil; for the wordH1697 of Jehovah is becomeH1961 unto me a reproachH2781 and a derisionH7047 all the dayH3117. 9And I saidH559, I will not makeH2142 mention of him, nor speakH1696 any more in his nameH8034: but it was in my heartH3820 as a burning fireH784 shutH6113 up in my bonesH6106; and I becameH1961 weariedH3811 with holdingH3557 in, and I could not. 10For I have heardH8085 the defaming of manyH7227, terrorH4032 on every side: ReportH1681, and we will reportH1681 it. All my familiars are watchingH8104 for my stumbling: Peradventure he will be enticedH6601, and we shall prevailH3201 against him; and we shall takeH3947 our revenge on him. 11But Jehovah is with me as a mightyH1368 terrible one; thereforeH3651 my persecutors shall stumbleH3782 and shall not prevailH3201; they shall be greatly ashamedH954, for they have not prospered: it shall be an everlasting confusion that shall not be forgottenH7911. 12And thou, Jehovah of hostsH6635, who triest the righteousH6662, who seest the reins and the heartH3820, let me seeH7200 thy vengeanceH5360 on them; for unto thee have I revealedH1540 my causeH7379. 13SingH7891 ye unto Jehovah, praiseH1984 Jehovah, for he hath deliveredH5337 the soulH5315 of the needyH34 from the handH3027 of evildoers. 14CursedH779 beH1961 the dayH3117 wherein I wasH1961 bornH3205; let not the dayH3117 wherein my motherH517 boreH3205 me beH1961 blessedH1288! 15CursedH779 be the manH376 who broughtH3205 tidings to my fatherH1, sayingH559, A manH376 child is bornH3205 unto thee; making him very gladH8055! 16And let that manH376 beH1961 as the citiesH5892 which Jehovah overthrewH2015, and repentedH5162 not; and let him hearH8085 a cryH2201 in the morningH1242, and a shoutingH8643 at noonday, 17because he slew me not from the wombH7358. Or would that my motherH517 had beenH1961 my graveH6913, and her wombH7358 always great [with me]! 18Wherefore cameH3318 I forthH3318 from the wombH7358 to seeH7200 labour and sorrowH3015, that my daysH3117 should be consumed in shameH1322?
