Jeremiah 8

1At that timeH6256, saith Jehovah, they shall bringH3318 forthH3318 the bonesH6106 of the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063, and the bonesH6106 of his princesH8269, and the bonesH6106 of the priestsH3548, and the bonesH6106 of the prophetsH5030, and the bonesH6106 of the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389, out of their gravesH6913; 2and they shall spreadH7849 them out to the sunH8121 and to the moonH3394 and to all the hostH6635 of the heavensH8064, which they have lovedH157, and which they have servedH5647, and after which they have walkedH1980, and which they have soughtH1875, and which they have worshipped: they shall not beH1961 gatheredH622, nor beH1961 buriedH6912; they shall beH1961 for dungH1828 upon the faceH6440 of the groundH127. 3And deathH4194 shall be chosenH977 rather than lifeH2416 by all the residue that remainH7604 of this evilH7451 familyH4940, in all the placesH4725 whither I have drivenH5080 those that remainH7604, saith Jehovah of hostsH6635. 4And thou shalt sayH559 unto them, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah: Do [men] fallH5307, and not riseH6965 up? Doth one turnH7725 awayH7725, and not returnH7725? 5WhyH4069 hath this peopleH5971 of JerusalemH3389 slidden backH7725 with a perpetual backsliding? They holdH2388 fast deceit, they refuseH3985 to returnH7725. 6I hearkened and heardH8085: they speakH1696 not what is rightH3651; there is no manH376 who repenteth him of his wickednessH7451, sayingH559, What have I done? Every oneH376 turneth to his courseH4794, like a horseH5483 rushing into the battleH4421. 7Even a storkH2624 in the heavensH8064 knoweth her appointedH4150 timesH6256, and the turtle-dove and the swallow and the craneH5693 observeH8104 the timeH6256 of their comingH935; but my peopleH5971 knowH3045 not the judgmentH4941 of Jehovah. 8HowH349 do ye sayH559, We are wiseH2450, and the lawH8451 of Jehovah is with us? Behold, certainly the lyingH8267 pen of the scribesH5608 hath madeH6213 it falsehoodH8267. 9The wiseH2450 men are ashamedH954, they are dismayedH2865 and takenH3920: behold, they have rejectedH3988 Jehovah's wordH1697; and what wisdomH2451 is in them? 10ThereforeH3651 will I giveH5414 their wivesH802 unto othersH312, their fieldsH7704 to those that shall possessH3423 [them]; for every one, from the least even unto the greatestH1419, is givenH5414 to covetousness; from the prophetH5030 even unto the priestH3548, every one dealeth falsely. 11And they have healedH7495 the breach of the daughterH1323 of my peopleH5971 lightly, sayingH559, PeaceH7965, peaceH7965! when there is no peaceH7965. 12Are they ashamedH954 that they have committed abominationH8441? Nay, they are not at all ashamedH954, and they knowH3045 not how to blush. ThereforeH3651 shall they fallH5307 among them that fallH5307: in the timeH6256 of their visitation they shall stumbleH3782, saith Jehovah. 13I will utterly take them away, saith Jehovah: there are no grapes on the vineH1612, nor figsH8384 on the fig-tree; and the leafH5929 is faded: and I will giveH5414 them up to those that shall passH5674 over them. 14WhyH4100 do we sitH3427 still? Assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fenced citiesH5892, and let us be silent there: for Jehovah our 1GodH430 hath put us to silence, and givenH8248 us waterH4325 of gall to drinkH8248, because we have sinnedH2398 against Jehovah. 15PeaceH7965 is looked for, and there is no goodH2896; a timeH6256 of healingH4832, and behold, terrorH1205. 16The snorting of his horsesH5483 is heardH8085 from DanH1835: the whole landH776 trembleth at the soundH6963 of the neighing of his steeds, and they comeH935, and devourH398 the landH776, and all it contains, the cityH5892 and those that dwellH3427 therein. 17For behold, I sendH7971 among you serpents, vipers against which there is no charmH3908, and they shall bite you, saith Jehovah. 18My comfort in my sadness! my heartH3820 is faintH1742 in me! 19Behold the voiceH6963 of the cryH7775 of the daughterH1323 of my peopleH5971, from a very far country: Is not Jehovah in ZionH6726? Is not her kingH4428 in her? WhyH4069 have they provokedH3707 me to angerH3707 with their graven images, with foreign vanitiesH1892? 20The harvestH7105 is past, the summerH7019 is endedH3615, and we are not savedH3467. 21— For the breach of the daughterH1323 of my peopleH5971 am I crushed; I go mourningH6937; astonishment hath takenH2388 holdH2388 of me. 22Is there no balmH6875 in GileadH1568? is there no physicianH7495 there? WhyH4069 then is there no dressing applied for the healingH7495 of the daughterH1323 of my peopleH5971?
