Jeremiah 16

1And the wordH1697 of Jehovah came to me, sayingH559, 2Thou shalt not takeH3947 thee a wifeH802, and thou shalt not have sonsH1121 nor daughtersH1323 in this placeH4725. 3For thusH3541 saith Jehovah concerning the sonsH1121 and concerning the daughtersH1323 that are bornH3205 in this placeH4725, and concerning their mothersH517 that bearH3205 them, and concerning their fathersH1 that beget them in this landH776: 4They shall dieH4191 of painful deaths; they shall not beH1961 lamentedH5594, neither shall they beH1961 buriedH6912; they shall beH1961 as dungH1828 upon the faceH6440 of the groundH776, and they shall beH1961 consumed by the swordH2719, and by famineH7458, and their carcases shall beH1961 foodH3978 for the fowl of the heavensH8064 and for the beasts of the earthH776. 5For thusH3541 saith Jehovah: Enter not into the houseH1004 of wailing, neither goH935 to lamentH5594 or bemoan them; for I have taken away my peaceH7965 from this peopleH5971, saith Jehovah, the loving-kindness and the tender mercies. 6Both greatH1419 and smallH6996 shall dieH4191 in this landH776: they shall not be buriedH6912; and none shall lamentH5594 for them, or cutH1413 themselves, nor makeH7139 themselves baldH7139 for them. 7Nor shall they breakH6536 [bread] for them in mourningH60, to comfortH5162 them for the deadH4191; neither shall they giveH8248 them the cupH3563 of consolationsH8575 to drinkH8248 for their fatherH1 or for their motherH517. 8And thou shalt not goH935 into the houseH1004 of feastingH4960, to sitH3427 with them, to eatH398 and to drinkH8354. 9For thusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635, the 1GodH430 of IsraelH3478: Behold, I will cause to ceaseH7673 out of this placeH4725, before your eyesH5869, and in your daysH3117, the voiceH6963 of mirth and the voiceH6963 of joyH8057, the voiceH6963 of the bridegroom and the voiceH6963 of the brideH3618. 10And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt declareH5046 unto this peopleH5971 all these wordsH1697, and they shall sayH559 unto thee, Wherefore hath Jehovah pronounced all this greatH1419 evilH7451 against us? and what is our iniquityH5771? and what is our sinH2398 which we have committed against Jehovah our 2GodH430? 11then shalt thou sayH559 unto them, Because your fathersH1 have forsaken me, saith Jehovah, and have walked after otherH312 3godsH430, and have servedH5647 them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not keptH8104 my lawH8451; 12and you, ye have done still worseH7451 than your fathersH1; and there ye are walkingH1980 every oneH376 after the stubbornnessH8307 of his evilH7451 heartH3820, not to hearken unto me: 13and I will cast you forth out of this landH776, into a landH776 that ye knowH3045 not, ye nor your fathersH1; and there shall ye serveH5647 otherH312 4godsH430 dayH3119 and nightH3915: because I will shew you no favour. 14ThereforeH3651, behold, daysH3117 are comingH935, saith Jehovah, that it shall no more be saidH559, [As] Jehovah liveth, who broughtH935 up the children of IsraelH3478 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714; 15but, [As] Jehovah liveth, who broughtH5927 up the children of IsraelH3478 from the landH776 of the northH6828, and from all the landsH776 whither he had drivenH5080 them. For I will bringH7725 them again into their landH776, which I gaveH5414 unto their fathersH1. 16Behold, I will sendH7971 for manyH7227 fishers, saith Jehovah, and they shall fish them; and afterwards will I sendH7971 for manyH7227 hunters, and they shall huntH6679 them, from every mountainH2022, and from every hillH2022, and out of the holes of the rocksH5553. 17For mine eyesH5869 are upon all their waysH1870; they are not concealedH5641 from my faceH6440, neither is their iniquityH5771 hiddenH5641 from before mine eyesH5869. 18But firstH7223 I will recompense their iniquityH5771 and their sinH2403 doubleH4932, because they have profanedH2490 my landH776 with the carcases of their detestableH8251 thingsH8251, and with their abominationsH8441 have they filledH4390 mine inheritanceH5159. 19Jehovah, my strengthH5797 and my fortress, and my refugeH4581 in the dayH3117 of distressH6869, unto thee shall the nationsH1471 comeH935 from the endsH657 of the earthH776, and they shall sayH559, SurelyH389 our fathersH1 have inheritedH5157 falsehoodH8267 [and] vanityH1892; and in these things there is no profitH3276. 20Shall a manH120 makeH6213 5godsH430 unto himself, and they are no-gods? 21ThereforeH3651, behold, I will this once cause them to knowH3045, I will cause them to knowH3045 my handH3027 and my might; and they shall knowH3045 that my nameH8034 is Jehovah.
