Jeremiah 22
1ThusH3541 saith Jehovah: GoH3381 down to the houseH1004 of the kingH4428 of JudahH3063, and speakH1696 there this wordH1697, 2and sayH559, HearH8085 the wordH1697 of Jehovah, O kingH4428 of JudahH3063, that sittest upon the throneH3678 of DavidH1732, thou, and thy servantsH5650, and thy peopleH5971 who enter in through these gatesH8179. 3ThusH3541 saith Jehovah: Execute judgmentH4941 and righteousnessH6666, and deliverH5337 the spoiled out of the handH3027 of the oppressorH3238; and do no wrong, do no violenceH2554 to the stranger, the fatherlessH3490, or the widowH490, and shedH8210 not innocentH5355 bloodH1818 in this placeH4725. 4For if ye do this thingH1697 indeed, then shall there enter in through the gatesH8179 of this houseH1004 kingsH4428 sittingH3427 in the place of DavidH1732 upon his throneH3678, ridingH7392 in chariotsH7393 and on horsesH5483, — he, and his servantsH5650, and his peopleH5971. 5But if ye will not hearH8085 these wordsH1697, I have swornH7650 by myself, saith Jehovah, that this houseH1004 shall becomeH1961 a wasteH2723. 6For thusH3541 saith Jehovah concerning the houseH1004 of the kingH4428 of JudahH3063: Thou art a GileadH1568 unto me, the summit of LebanonH3844: verily I will makeH7896 thee a wildernessH4057, citiesH5892 not inhabitedH3427. 7And I will prepare destroyersH7843 against thee, every oneH376 with his weaponsH3627; and they shall cutH3772 down the choice of thy cedarsH730, and castH5307 [them] into the fireH784. 8And manyH7227 nationsH1471 shall passH5674 by this cityH5892, and they shall sayH559 every manH376 to his neighbour, Wherefore hath Jehovah done thusH3602 unto this greatH1419 cityH5892? 9And they shall sayH559, Because they have forsaken the covenantH1285 of Jehovah their 1GodH430, and worshipped otherH312 2godsH430, and servedH5647 them. 10WeepH1058 not for the deadH4191, neither bemoan him; [but] weepH1058 sore for him that goeth awayH7725, for he shall returnH7725 no more, nor seeH7200 his native country. 11For thusH3541 saith Jehovah concerningH413 ShallumH7967 the sonH1121 of JosiahH2977, the kingH4428 of JudahH3063, who reignedH4427 instead of JosiahH2977 his fatherH1, who wentH3318 forthH3318 out of this placeH4725: He shall not returnH7725 thither any moreH4480; 12for he shall dieH4191 in the placeH4725 whither they have led him captive, and shall seeH7200 this landH776 no more. 13WoeH1945 unto him that buildeth his houseH1004 by unrighteousness, and his upperH5944 chambersH5944 by injustice; that taketh his neighbour's service without wagesH6467, and giveth him not his earning; 14that saith, I will buildH1129 me a wide houseH1004, and spacious upperH5944 chambersH5944; and he cutteth out for himself windowsH2474; and it is wainscoted with cedarH730, and painted with vermilionH8350. 15Shalt thou reignH4427, because thou viest with the cedarH730? Did not thy fatherH1 eatH398 and drinkH8354, and do judgmentH4941 and justiceH4941? ThenH227 it was well with him. 16He judged the causeH1779 of the poorH6041 and needyH34; thenH227 it was well. Was not this to know me? saith Jehovah. 17But thine eyesH5869 and thy heartH3820 are only on thine extortionH6233, and on the bloodH1818 of the innocentH5355, to shedH8210 it, and on oppressionH6233 and on violence, to do it. 18ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith Jehovah concerningH413 JehoiakimH3079 the sonH1121 of JosiahH2977, the kingH4428 of JudahH3063: They shall not lamentH5594 for him, Ah, my brotherH251! or, Ah, sisterH269! They shall not lamentH5594 for him, Ah, lord! or Ah, his glory! 19He shall be buriedH6912 with the burialH6900 of an ass, draggedH5498 along and castH7993 forth beyond the gatesH8179 of JerusalemH3389. 20GoH5927 up to LebanonH3844, and cryH6817; and giveH5414 forth thy voiceH6963 in BashanH1316, and cryH6817 from [the heights of] AbarimH5682: for all thy loversH157 are destroyed. 21I spokeH1696 unto thee in thy prosperityH7962; [but] thou saidst, I will not hearH8085. This hath been thy wayH1870 from thy youthH5271, that thou hearkenedst not unto my voiceH6963. 22The windH7307 shall feedH7462 on all thy shepherdsH7462, and thy loversH157 shall go into captivityH7628; surely, thenH227 shalt thou be ashamedH954 and confounded for all thy wickednessH7451. 23Thou inhabitress of LebanonH3844, that makest thy nestH7077 in the cedarsH730, howH4100 pitiful shalt thou be when pangs comeH935 upon thee, pain as of a woman in travail! 24[As] I live, saith Jehovah, though Coniah the sonH1121 of JehoiakimH3079, the kingH4428 of JudahH3063, wereH1961 a signet upon my rightH3225 handH3027, yet will I pluck thee thence; 25and I will giveH5414 thee into the handH3027 of them that seekH1245 thy lifeH5315, and into the handH3027 of them before whom thou art afraid, even into the handH3027 of Nebuchadrezzar kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and into the handH3027 of the ChaldeansH3778. 26And I will cast thee out, and thy motherH517 that bare thee, into another country, whereH834 ye were not bornH3205; and there shall ye dieH4191. 27And into the landH776 whereunto they liftH5375 up their soulsH5315 to returnH7725, thither shall they not returnH7725. 28Is this manH376 Coniah a despisedH959 broken vase? a vesselH3627 wherein is no delightH2656? Wherefore are they thrownH7993 out, he and his seedH2233, and are castH7993 into a landH776 which they knowH3045 not? 29O earthH776, earthH776, earthH776, hearH8085 the wordH1697 of Jehovah! 30ThusH3541 saith Jehovah: WriteH3789 this manH376 childlessH6185, a manH376 that shall not prosperH6743 in his daysH3117; for no manH376 of his seedH2233 shall prosperH6743, sittingH3427 upon the throneH3678 of DavidH1732, and rulingH4910 any more in JudahH3063.
