Jeremiah 3

1They sayH559, If a manH376 put awayH7971 his wifeH802, and she goH1980 from him, and becomeH1961 another man's, shall he returnH7725 unto her againH5750? Would not that landH776 beH1961 utterly pollutedH2610? But thou hast committed fornication with manyH7227 lovers; yetH5750 returnH7725 to me, saith Jehovah. 2LiftH5375 up thine eyesH5869 unto the heightsH8205 and seeH7200, whereH375 hast thou not been lain with? In the waysH1870 hast thou satH3427 for them, as an Arab in the wildernessH4057; and thou hast pollutedH2610 the landH776 with thy fornications and with thy wickednessH7451. 3And the showersH7241 have beenH1961 withholden, and there hath beenH1961 no latter rainH4456; but thou hast a harlot's foreheadH4696, thou refusest to beH1961 ashamedH3637. 4Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My fatherH1, thou art the guide of my youthH5271? 5Will he keepH8104 [his anger] for everH5769? Will he preserveH8104 it perpetually? Behold, thou hast spokenH1696 and hast done evilH7451 things, and thou art [so] determined. 6And Jehovah saidH559 unto me in the daysH3117 of JosiahH2977 the kingH4428, Hast thou seenH7200 what backsliding IsraelH3478 hath done? She hath goneH1980 up upon every highH1364 mountainH2022 and under every green treeH6086, and there hath committed fornication. 7And I saidH559, After she hath done all these [thingsH428], she will returnH7725 unto me; but she returnedH7725 not. And her sisterH269 JudahH3063, the treacherousH901, sawH7200 [it]. 8And I sawH7200 that when for all the causes wherein backsliding IsraelH3478 committedH5003 adulteryH5003 I had putH5414 her awayH7971, and givenH5414 her a bill of divorce, yet the treacherousH898 JudahH3063, her sisterH269, fearedH3372 not, but went and committedH5003 fornication alsoH1571. 9And it came to pass through the lightness of her fornication that she pollutedH2610 the landH776, and committedH5003 adulteryH5003 with stonesH68 and with stocks. 10And even for all this her treacherousH901 sisterH269 JudahH3063 hath not returnedH7725 unto me with her whole heartH3820, but with falsehoodH8267, saith Jehovah. 11And Jehovah saidH559 unto me, Backsliding IsraelH3478 hath shewn herself more just than treacherousH898 JudahH3063. 12GoH1980 and proclaimH7121 these wordsH1697 toward the northH6828, and sayH559, ReturnH7725, thou backsliding IsraelH3478, saith Jehovah: I will not make my faceH6440 dark upon you; for I am merciful, saith Jehovah; I will not keepH5201 [anger] for everH5769. 13OnlyH389 acknowledge thine iniquityH5771, that thou hast transgressedH6586 against Jehovah thy 1GodH430, and hast turned thy waysH1870 hither and thither to the strangersH2114 under every green treeH6086; and ye have not hearkened to my voiceH6963, saith Jehovah. 14ReturnH7725, backsliding children, saith Jehovah; for I am a husbandH1166 unto you, and I will takeH3947 you, oneH259 of a cityH5892, and twoH8147 of a familyH4940, and I will bringH935 you to ZionH6726. 15And I will giveH5414 you shepherdsH7462 according to my heartH3820, and they shall feedH7462 you with knowledgeH1844 and understanding. 16And it shall come to pass, when ye are multipliedH7235 in the landH776 and becomeH1961 fruitfulH6509, in those daysH3117, saith Jehovah, they shall sayH559 no more, ArkH727 of the covenantH1285 of Jehovah! neither shall it come to mind, nor shall they rememberH2142 it, nor shall they visitH6485 [it]; neither shall it beH1961 done any more. 17At that timeH6256 they shall callH7121 JerusalemH3389 the throneH3678 of Jehovah; and all the nationsH1471 shall be gathered unto it, to the nameH8034 of Jehovah, to JerusalemH3389; and they shall no more walk after the stubbornnessH8307 of their evilH7451 heartH3820. 18In those daysH3117 the houseH1004 of JudahH3063 shall walk with the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478; and they shall comeH935 togetherH3162 out of the landH776 of the northH6828, to the landH776 which I caused your fathersH1 to inheritH5157. 19And as for me, I saidH559, HowH349 shall I putH5414 thee among the children, and giveH5414 thee the pleasant landH776, the goodly inheritanceH5159 of the hostsH6635 of the nationsH1471? And I saidH559, Thou shalt callH7121 me, My fatherH1; and shalt not turnH7725 awayH7725 from following me. 20Surely [as] a womanH802 treacherouslyH898 departeth from her companionH7453, soH3651 have ye dealtH898 treacherouslyH898 with me, O houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, saith Jehovah. 21A voiceH6963 is heardH8085 upon the heightsH8205, the weepingH1065 supplicationsH8469 of the children of IsraelH3478; for they have perverted their wayH1870, they have forgottenH7911 Jehovah their 2GodH430. 22— ReturnH7725, backsliding children; I will healH7495 your backslidings. ...Behold, we comeH857 unto thee; for thou art Jehovah our 3GodH430. 23TrulyH403 in vain [is salvationH8668 looked for] from the hillsH1389, [and] the multitudeH1995 of mountainsH2022; trulyH403 in Jehovah our 4GodH430 is the salvationH8668 of IsraelH3478. 24But shameH1322 hath devouredH398 the labour of our fathersH1 from our youthH5271; their flocksH6629 and their herdsH1241, their sonsH1121 and their daughtersH1323. 25We lieH7901 down in our shameH1322, and our confusion covereth us; for we have sinnedH2398 against Jehovah our 5GodH430, we and our fathersH1, from our youthH5271 even unto this dayH3117, and have not hearkened to the voiceH6963 of Jehovah our 6GodH430.
