Jeremiah 13

1ThusH3541 saidH559 Jehovah unto me: GoH1980 and buyH7069 thee a linenH6593 girdle, and putH7760 it upon thy loinsH4975; but dip it not in waterH4325. 2And I boughtH7069 a girdle according to the wordH1697 of Jehovah, and putH7760 it upon my loinsH4975. 3And the wordH1697 of Jehovah came unto me the secondH8145 timeH8145, sayingH559, 4TakeH3947 the girdle that thou hast boughtH7069, which is upon thy loinsH4975, and ariseH6965, go to the EuphratesH6578, and hideH2934 it there in a hole of the rockH5553. 5So I went and hidH2934 it by the EuphratesH6578, as Jehovah had commandedH6680 me. 6And it came to pass at the endH7093 of manyH7227 daysH3117, that Jehovah saidH559 unto me, AriseH6965, go to the EuphratesH6578, and takeH3947 the girdle from thence which I commandedH6680 thee to hideH2934 there. 7And I went to the EuphratesH6578, and digged, and tookH3947 the girdle from the placeH4725 whereH834 I had hidH2934 it; and behold, the girdle was spoiledH7843, it was good for nothing. 8And the wordH1697 of Jehovah came unto me, sayingH559, 9ThusH3541 saith Jehovah: After this manner will I spoil the prideH1347 of JudahH3063, and the greatH7227 prideH1347 of JerusalemH3389. 10This evilH7451 peopleH5971, who refuse to hearH8085 my wordsH1697, who walkH1980 in the stubbornnessH8307 of their heartH3820, and goH1980 after otherH312 1godsH430, to serveH5647 them and to worship them, shall even beH1961 as this girdle which is good for nothing. 11For as a girdle cleaveth to the loinsH4975 of a manH376, soH3651 have I caused to cleave unto me the whole houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 and the whole houseH1004 of JudahH3063, saith Jehovah; that they might beH1961 unto me for a peopleH5971, and for a nameH8034, and for a praiseH8416, and for a gloryH8597: but they would not hearH8085. 12And thou shalt speak unto them this wordH1697: ThusH3541 saith Jehovah, the 2GodH430 of IsraelH3478, Every skin shall be filledH4390 with wineH3196. And they will sayH559 unto thee, Do we not very well knowH3045 that every skin shall be filledH4390 with wineH3196? 13And thou shalt sayH559 unto them, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah: Behold, I will fillH4390 all the inhabitantsH3427 of this landH776, and the kingsH4428 that sitH3427 for DavidH1732 upon his throneH3678, and the priestsH3548 and the prophetsH5030, and all the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389, with drunkennessH7943. 14And I will dash them oneH376 against another, both the fathersH1 and the sonsH1121 togetherH3162, saith Jehovah; I will not pityH2347, nor spareH2550, nor have mercyH7355 so as not to destroyH7843 them. 15HearH8085 ye, and giveH238 earH238, be not lifted up; for Jehovah hath spokenH1696. 16GiveH5414 gloryH3519 to Jehovah your 3GodH430, before he cause darknessH6757, and before your feetH7272 stumble upon the mountainsH2022 of twilightH5399; and ye shall look for lightH216, but he will turn it into the shadow of death, and makeH7760 [it] gross darknessH6757. 17And if ye will not hearH8085 it, my soulH5315 shall weepH1058 in secretH4565 placesH4565 for [your] prideH1466; and mine eyeH5869 shall weepH1058 sore, and run down with tearsH1832, because Jehovah's flockH5739 is goneH3381 into captivity. 18SayH559 unto the kingH4428 and to the queen: Humble yourselves, sitH3427 down lowH8213; for from your heads shall comeH3381 down the crownH5850 of your magnificence. 19The citiesH5892 of the southH5045 are shutH5462 up, and there is none to openH6605 [them]; all JudahH3063 is carried away captive: it is wholly carried away captive. 20LiftH5375 up your eyesH5869, and behold them that comeH935 from the northH6828. WhereH346 is the flockH6629 that was givenH5414 thee, thy beautiful flockH6629? 21What wilt thou sayH559 when he shall visitH6485 thee, since thou thyself hast trainedH3925 them to be princes in chiefH7218 over thee? Shall not sorrows takeH270 thee, as a womanH802 in travail? 22And if thou sayH559 in thy heartH3824, Wherefore come these thingsH428 upon me? For the greatnessH7230 of thine iniquityH5771 are thy skirtsH7757 uncoveredH1540, [and] thy heelsH6119 have suffered violenceH2554. 23Can an Ethiopian changeH2015 his skinH5785, or a leopardH5246 his spots? [Then] may ye alsoH1571 do goodH3190, who are accustomed to do evilH7489. 24And I will scatterH6327 them as stubbleH7179 that passeth away by the windH7307 of the wildernessH4057. 25This shall be thy lotH1486, thy measured portionH4490 from me, saith Jehovah; because thou hast forgottenH7911 me, and confided in falsehoodH8267. 26Therefore will I alsoH1571 turn thy skirtsH7757 over thy faceH6440, and thy shameH7036 shall be seenH7200. 27Thine adulteriesH5004, and thy neighingsH4684, the lewdness of thy fornication, on the hillsH1389, in the fieldsH7704, — thine abominationsH8251, have I seenH7200. WoeH188 unto thee, JerusalemH3389! Wilt thou not be made cleanH2891? after how long a time yetH5750?
