Jeremiah 46
1The wordH1697 of Jehovah that came to JeremiahH3414 the prophetH5030 concerning the nationsH1471. 2Of EgyptH4714: concerning the armyH2428 of Pharaoh-Necho kingH4428 of EgyptH4714, which wasH1961 by the riverH5104 EuphratesH6578 at CarchemishH3751, which Nebuchadrezzar kingH4428 of BabylonH894 smote in the fourthH7243 yearH8141 of JehoiakimH3079 the sonH1121 of JosiahH2977, the kingH4428 of JudahH3063. 3Make ready buckler and shieldH4043, and drawH5066 near to battleH4421! 4HarnessH631 the horsesH5483, and mount ye horsemenH6571, and standH3320 forth with helmetsH3553; polish the spearsH7420, putH3847 on the coats of mail! 5WhyH4069 do I seeH7200 them dismayed, turnedH6437 away backH268? And their mightyH1368 onesH1368 are beaten down, and take to flight, and lookH7200 not backH268? TerrorH4032 [is] on every side, saith Jehovah. 6Let not the swiftH7031 fleeH5127 away, neither let the mightyH1368 manH1368 escapeH4422! — Toward the northH6828, hard by the riverH5104 EuphratesH6578, they have stumbledH3782 and fallenH5307. 7Who is this [that] riseth up as the Nile, whose watersH4325 toss themselves like the riversH5104? 8It is EgyptH4714 that riseth up as the Nile, and [his] watersH4325 toss themselves like the riversH5104; and he saith, I will rise up, I will coverH3680 the earthH776; I will destroyH6 the cityH5892 and the inhabitantsH3427 thereof. 9GoH3318 up, ye horsesH5483, and drive furiously, ye chariotsH7393; and let the mightyH1368 menH1368 goH3318 forthH3318: CushH3568 and Phut that handle the shieldH4043, and the Ludim that handle the bowH7198 [and] bendH1869 it. 10For this is the dayH3117 of the LordH136 Jehovah of hostsH6635, a dayH3117 of vengeanceH5360, that he may be avengedH5358 of his adversaries; and the swordH2719 shall devourH398, and it shall be sated and made drunk with their bloodH1818; for the LordH136 Jehovah of hostsH6635 hath a sacrificeH2077 in the northH6828 country, by the riverH5104 EuphratesH6578. 11GoH5927 up to GileadH1568, and fetch balmH6875, O virgin-daughter of EgyptH4714! In vain shalt thou multiplyH7235 remedies: there is no healing for thee. 12The nationsH1471 have heardH8085 of thy shameH7036, and thy cry hath filledH4390 the earthH776; for the mightyH1368 manH1368 stumbleth against the mightyH1368, they are both fallenH5307 togetherH3162. 13The wordH1697 that Jehovah spokeH1696 to JeremiahH3414 the prophetH5030, concerningH413 the comingH935 of Nebuchadrezzar kingH4428 of BabylonH894 to smite the landH776 of EgyptH4714: 14DeclareH5046 in EgyptH4714, and publish in MigdolH4024, and publish in Noph, and in TahpanhesH8471; sayH559, StandH3320 fast, and prepareH3559 thee; for the swordH2719 devoureth roundH5439 about thee. 15WhyH4069 are thy valiants swept away? They stoodH5975 not, for Jehovah did thrust them down. 16He made manyH7235 to stumbleH3782, yea, oneH376 fellH5307 upon another; and they saidH559, AriseH6965, and let us returnH7725 to our own peopleH5971 and to the landH776 of our nativity, from the oppressingH3238 swordH2719. 17There did they cry, PharaohH6547 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 is but a noise; he hath let the timeH4150 appointedH4150 go by. 18[As] I live, saith the KingH4428, whose nameH8034 is Jehovah of hostsH6635, surely as TaborH8396 among the mountainsH2022, and as CarmelH3760 by the seaH3220, so shall he comeH935. 19Thou, inhabitress, daughterH1323 of EgyptH4714, furnish for thyself a captive's baggage, for Noph shall beH1961 a desolationH8047 and shall beH1961 ruined, so that none shall dwellH3427 therein. 20EgyptH4714 is a very fair heiferH5697; the gad-fly cometh, it cometh from the northH6828. 21AlsoH1571 her hired men in the midstH7130 of her are like fatted bullocks; for they alsoH1571 have turnedH6437 backH6437, they have fledH5127 away togetherH3162, they did not standH5975; for the dayH3117 of their calamityH343 is comeH935 upon them, the timeH6256 of their visitation. 22Her voiceH6963 shall goH935 like a serpent's; for they shall march with an armyH2428, and comeH935 against her with axes, as hewers of woodH6086. 23They shall cutH3772 down her forestH3293, saith Jehovah, though it be impenetrable; for they are more than the locustsH697, and are innumerable. 24The daughterH1323 of EgyptH4714 is putH5414 to shame; she is delivered into the handH3027 of the peopleH5971 of the northH6828. 25Jehovah of hostsH6635, the 1GodH430 of IsraelH3478, saith, Behold, I will punishH6485 AmonH528 of No, and PharaohH6547, and EgyptH4714, and her 2godsH430, and her kingsH4428; yea, PharaohH6547 and them that confide in him. 26And I will giveH5414 them into the handH3027 of those that seekH1245 their lifeH5315, and into the handH3027 of Nebuchadrezzar kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and into the handH3027 of his servantsH5650; but afterwards it shall be inhabited, as in the daysH3117 of old, saith Jehovah. 27But thou, my servantH5650 JacobH3290, fearH3372 not, neither be dismayedH2865, IsraelH3478: for behold, I will saveH3467 thee from afarH7350, and thy seedH2233 from the landH776 of their captivityH7628; and JacobH3290 shall returnH7725, and be in rest and at easeH7599, and none shall make [him] afraidH3372. 28FearH3372 thou not, my servantH5650 JacobH3290, saith Jehovah: for I am with thee; for I will makeH6213 a full end of all the nationsH1471 whither I have drivenH5080 thee, but I will not makeH6213 a full end of thee; but I will correct thee with judgmentH4941, and I will not hold thee altogether guiltless.
