The next dayH4283, when PashhurH6583 releasedH3318 JeremiahH3414 fromH4480 the stocksH4115, JeremiahH3414 saidH559 to himH413, “The LORDH3068 does notH3808 callH7121H8034 you PashhurH6583, butH3588H518 Magor-missabibH4036.1 4ForH3588 this is whatH3541 the LORDH3068H2005 saysH559: ‘I will make youH5414 a terrorH4032 to yourself and to allH3605 your friendsH157. They will fallH5307 by the swordH2719 of their enemiesH341 before your very eyesH5869H7200. And I will hand JudahH3063 over toH5414H3027 the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and he will carry them awayH1540 to BabylonH894 and put themH5221 to the swordH2719. 5I will give awayH5414 allH3605 the wealthH2633 of thisH2063 cityH5892—allH3605 its productsH3018 and valuablesH3366, andH853 allH3605 the treasuresH214 of the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063—toH3027 their enemiesH341. They will plunder themH962, seize themH3947, and carry them offH935 to BabylonH894.

Jeremiah’s Complaint

6And youH859, PashhurH6583, and allH3605 who liveH3427 in your houseH1004, will goH1980 into captivityH7628. You will goH935 to BabylonH894, and thereH8033 you will dieH4191 andH8033 be buriedH6912—youH859 and allH3605 your friendsH157 to whomH834 you have prophesiedH5012 these liesH8267.’”

7You have deceived meH6601, O LORDH3068, and I was deceivedH6601.You have overcome meH2388 and prevailedH3201.I amH1961 a laughingstockH7814 allH3605 day longH3117;everyoneH3605 mocksH3932 me.8ForH3588 wheneverH1767 I speakH1696, I cry outH2199;I proclaimH7121 violenceH2555 and destructionH7701.ForH3588 the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 has becomeH1961 to mea reproachH2781 and derisionH7047 allH3605 day longH3117.
9If I sayH559, “I will notH3808 mention HimH2142or speakH1696 any moreH5750 in His nameH8034,”His message becomesH1961 a fireH784 burningH1197 in my heartH3820,shut upH6113 in my bonesH6106,and I become wearyH3811 of holding it inH3557,and I cannotH3808 prevailH3201.10ForH3588 I have heardH8085 the whisperingH1681 of manyH7227:“TerrorH4032 is on every sideH5439!Report himH5046; let us report himH5046!”AllH3605 my trusted friendsH582H7965watch forH8104 my fallH6761:“PerhapsH194 he will be deceivedH6601so that we may prevailH3201 against himand takeH3947 our vengeanceH5360 upon himH4480.”
11But the LORDH3068 is with meH854 like a fearsomeH6184 warriorH1368.ThereforeH5921H3651, my persecutorsH7291 will stumbleH3782 and will notH3808 prevailH3201.SinceH3588 they have notH3808 succeededH7919, they will be utterlyH3966 put to shameH954,with an everlastingH5769 disgraceH3639 that will neverH3808 be forgottenH7911.12O LORDH3068 of HostsH6635, who examinesH974 the righteousH6662,who seesH7200 the heartH36292 and mindH3820,let me seeH7200 Your vengeanceH5360 upon them,forH3588 to YouH413 I have committedH1540 my causeH7379.
13SingH7891 to the LORDH3068!PraiseH1984 the LORDH3068!ForH3588 He rescuesH5337 the lifeH5315 of the needyH34from the handsH3027 of evildoersH7489.
14Cursed beH779 the dayH3117 I was bornH3205!May the dayH3117 my motherH517 bore meH3205 neverH408H1961 be blessedH1288.15Cursed beH779 the manH376 whoH834 broughtH1319 my father the newsH1,sayingH559, “A sonH2145H1121 is bornH3205 to you,”bringing him great joyH8055.16MayH1931 that manH376 beH1961 like the citiesH5892thatH834 the LORDH3068 overthrewH2015 withoutH3808 compassionH5162.May he hearH8085 an outcryH2201 in the morningH1242and a battle cryH8643 at noonH6256H6672,17becauseH834 he did notH3808 kill meH4191 in the wombH7358so that my motherH517 might have beenH1961 my graveH6913,and her wombH7358 foreverH5769 enlargedH2030.18WhyH4100H2088 did I come outH3318 of the wombH7358to seeH7200 only troubleH5999 and sorrowH3015,and to endH3615 my daysH3117 in shameH1322?
