Isaiah 37:8-36

And Rab-shakeh returnedH7725, and foundH4672 the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 warring against LibnahH3841; for he had heardH8085 that he had departedH5265 from LachishH3923.

And he heardH8085 sayH559 of TirhakahH8640 kingH4428 of Ethiopia, He has comeH3318 forthH3318 to makeH8085 war with thee. And when he heardH8085 [it], he sentH7971 messengersH4397 to HezekiahH2396, sayingH559,

ThusH3541 shall ye speak to HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, sayingH559: Let not thy 1GodH430, upon whom thou reliest, deceiveH5377 thee, sayingH559, JerusalemH3389 shall not be delivered into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804.

Behold, thou hast heardH8085 what the kingsH4428 of AssyriaH804 have done to all countries, destroying them utterly; and shalt thou be deliveredH5337?

Have the 2godsH430 of the nationsH1471 which my fathersH1 have destroyedH7843 deliveredH5337 them, GozanH1470, and HaranH2771, and RezephH7530, and the children of EdenH5729 that were in Thelassar?

WhereH346 is the kingH4428 of HamathH2574, and the kingH4428 of ArpadH774, and the kingH4428 of the cityH5892 of SepharvaimH5617, of HenaH2012, and IvvahH5755?

And HezekiahH2396 receivedH3947 the letterH5612 from the handH3027 of the messengersH4397, and readH7121 it; and HezekiahH2396 wentH5927 up into the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and spreadH6566 it before Jehovah.

And HezekiahH2396 prayedH6419 to Jehovah, sayingH559,

Jehovah of hostsH6635, the 3GodH430 of IsraelH3478, who sittest [between] the cherubimH3742, thou, the Same, thou aloneH905 art the 4GodH430 of all the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776: thou hast madeH6213 the heavensH8064 and the earthH776.

InclineH5186 thine earH241, O Jehovah, and hearH8085; openH6491, Jehovah, thine eyesH5869, and seeH7200; and hearH8085 all the wordsH1697 of SennacheribH5576, who hath sentH7971 to reproachH2778 the living 5GodH430.

Of a truth, Jehovah, the kingsH4428 of AssyriaH804 have laid waste all the landsH776, and their countries,

and have cast their 6godsH430 into the fireH784; for they were no 7godsH430, but the workH4639 of men's handsH3027, woodH6086 and stoneH68; and they have destroyedH6 them.

And nowH6258, Jehovah our 8GodH430, saveH3467 us out of his handH3027, that all the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776 may knowH3045 that thou art Jehovah, thou onlyH905.

And IsaiahH3470 the sonH1121 of AmozH531 sentH7971 to HezekiahH2396, sayingH559, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah the 9GodH430 of IsraelH3478, Whereas thou hast prayedH6419 to me concerningH413 SennacheribH5576 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804,

this is the wordH1697 which Jehovah hath spokenH1696 against him: The virgin-daughter of ZionH6726 despiseth thee, laugheth thee to scorn; the daughterH1323 of JerusalemH3389 shaketh her headH7218 at thee.

Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exaltedH7311 the voiceH6963? Against the HolyH6918 OneH6918 of IsraelH3478 hast thou liftedH5375 up thine eyesH5869 on highH4791.

By thy servantsH5650 thou hast reproached the LordH136, and hast saidH559, With the multitudeH7230 of my chariotsH7393 am I comeH935 up to the heightH6967 of the mountainsH2022, to the recesses of LebanonH3844; and I will cutH3772 down its tall cedarsH730, the choice of its cypressesH1265; and I will enter into its furthest heightH6967, [into] the forestH3293 of its fruitful field.

I have digged and drunkH8354 waterH4325; and with the soleH3709 of my feet have I dried up all the streams of Matsor.

Hast thou not heardH8085 that long ago I did it, and that from ancient daysH3117 I formedH3335 it? NowH6258 have I broughtH935 it to pass, that thou shouldest lay waste fortifiedH1219 citiesH5892 [into] ruinous heapsH1530.

And their inhabitantsH3427 wereH1961 powerless, they wereH1961 dismayedH2865 and putH954 to shameH954; they wereH1961 [as] the grassH2682 of the fieldH7704 and the green herb, [as] the grassH2682 on the housetops, and grainH7054 blighted before it beH1961 grown up.

But I knowH3045 thine abode, and thy goingH3318 out, and thy comingH935 in, and thy ragingH7264 against me.

Because thy ragingH7264 against me and thine arroganceH7600 is comeH935 up into mine earsH241, I will putH7760 my ring in thy noseH639, and my bridleH4964 in thy lipsH8193, and I will makeH7760 thee goH935 backH7725 by the wayH1870 by which thou camest.

And this [shall be] the signH226 unto thee: there shall be eatenH398 this yearH8141 such as groweth of itself; and in the secondH8145 yearH8141 that which springeth of the same; but in the thirdH7992 yearH8141 sowH2232 ye, and reapH7114, and plantH5193 vineyardsH3754 and eatH398 the fruitH6529 thereof.

And the remnantH7604 that is escapedH6413 of the houseH1004 of JudahH3063 shall again take rootH8328 downwardH4295, and bear fruitH6529 upwardH4605;

for out of JerusalemH3389 shall goH3318 forthH3318 a remnantH7611, and out of mount ZionH6726 they that escapeH6413: the zealH7068 of Jehovah of hostsH6635 shall do this.

ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith Jehovah concerning the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804: He shall not comeH935 into this cityH5892, nor shootH3384 an arrowH2671 there, nor comeH935 before it with shieldH4043, nor cast a bank against it.

By the wayH1870 that he cameH935, by the same shall he returnH7725, and shall not comeH935 into this cityH5892, saith Jehovah.

And I will defendH1598 this cityH5892, to saveH3467 it, for mine own sakeH4616, and for my servantH5650 David's sakeH4616.

And an angelH4397 of Jehovah wentH3318 forthH3318, and smote in the campH4264 of the Assyrians a hundredH3967 and eighty-fiveH8084 thousandH505. And when they arose earlyH7925 in the morningH1242, behold, they were all deadH4191 bodies.
