2being greatlyG1278disturbedG1278becauseδιὰdiaG1223they were teachingδιδάσκεινdidaskeinG1321the peopleλαὸνlaonG2992and proclaimingκαταγγέλλεινkatangelleinG2605in JesusἸησοῦIēsouG2424the resurrectionἀνάστασινanastasinG386from the deadνεκρῶν·nekrōnG3498.

3And they laidG1911handsχεῖραςcheirasG5495onG1911them andputἔθεντοethentoG5087themin prisonτήρησινtērēsinG5084untilG1519the nextαὔριον·aurionG839dayG839,for it was alreadyἤδη.ēdēG2235eveningἑσπέραhesperaG2073.

4But manyπολλοὶpolloiG4183of thoseG3588who had heardἀκουσάντωνakousantōnG191themessageλόγονlogonG3056believedἐπίστευσαν·episteusanG4100; andthe numberἀριθμὸςarithmosG706of the menἀνδρῶνandrōnG435cameἐγενήθηegenēthēG1096to be aboutG5613fiveπέντε.¶penteG4002thousandχιλιάδεςchiliadesG5505.

5On the nextαὔριονaurionG839dayG839, theirrulersἄρχονταςarchontasG758and eldersπρεσβυτέρουςpresbuterousG4245and scribesγραμματεῖςgrammateisG1122were gatheredG4863togetherG4863in JerusalemG2419;

6andAnnasἍνναςHannasG452the highἀρχιερεὺςarchiereusG749priestG749was there, andCaiaphasΚαϊάφαςKaiaphasG2533,JohnἸωάννηςIōannēsG2491,and AlexanderἈλέξανδροςAlexandrosG223,and allG3745whoG3745were of high-priestlyἀρχιερατικοῦ,archieratikouG748descentγένουςgenousG1085.

7When they had placedστήσαντεςstēsantesG2476them in the centerμέσῳmesōG3319, they began toinquireἐπυνθάνοντο·epunthanontoG4441, “By whatποίᾳpoiaG4169powerδυνάμειdunameiG1411,orἢēG2228in whatποίῳpoiōG4169nameὀνόματιonomatiG3686,have you doneἐποιήσατεepoiēsateG4160thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778?”

8ThenΤότεToteG5119PeterΠέτροςPetrosG4074,filledG4092with the HolyἁγίουhagiouG40SpiritπνεύματοςpneumatosG4151,saidG3004to them, “RulersἄρχοντεςarchontesG758and eldersπρεσβύτεροιpresbuteroiG4245of the peopleλαοῦlaouG2992,

10let it be knownγνωστὸνgnōstonG1110to allπᾶσινpasinG3956of you and to allπαντὶpantiG3956the peopleλαῷlaōG2992of IsraelἸσραὴλIsraēlG2474, thatby the nameὀνόματιonomatiG3686of JesusἸησοῦIēsouG2424ChristΧριστοῦChristouG5547the NazareneΝαζωραίουNazōraiouG3480,whomὃνhonG3739you crucifiedἐσταυρώσατε,estaurōsateG4717,whomὃνhonG3739GodθεὸςtheosG2316raisedἤγειρενēgeirenG1453from the deadνεκρῶν,nekrōnG3498--bythisG3778namethisG3778manG3778standsG3936hereG3936beforeἐνώπιονenōpionG1799you in goodG5199healthG5199.

11He is thestoneλίθοςlithosG3037which wasrejectedἐξουθενηθεὶςexouthenētheisG1848by you,the buildersG3620, butwhich becameγενόμενοςgenomenosG1096the chiefκεφαλὴνkephalēnG2776cornerstoneγωνίας.gōniasG1137.

12And there is salvationσωτηρία·sōtēriaG4991innoοὐκoukG3756 G3762oneοὐδενὶoudeniG3762elseἄλλῳallōG243;for there is noοὐδὲoudeG3761otherἕτερονheteronG2087nameὄνομάonomaG3686underὑπὸhupoG5259heavenοὐρανὸνouranonG3772that has been givenδεδομένονdedomenonG1325amongG1722mankindἀνθρώποιςanthrōpoisG444by whichᾧhōG3739we mustδεῖdeiG1163be savedσωθῆναιsōthēnaiG4982.”

13NowδὲdeG1161as they observedΘεωροῦντεςTheōrountesG2334theconfidenceπαρρησίανparrēsianG3954ofPeterΠέτρουPetrouG4074and JohnἸωάννουIōannouG2491and understoodκαταλαβόμενοιkatalabomenoiG2638that they were uneducatedἀγράμματοίagrammatoiG62and untrainedἰδιῶται,idiōtaiG2399menἄνθρωποιanthrōpoiG444,they wereG2296amazedG2296, and beganto recognizeἐπεγίνωσκόνepeginōskonG1921themas having beenG1510with JesusἸησοῦIēsouG2424.

14And seeingβλέποντεςblepontesG991the manἄνθρωπονanthrōponG444who had been healedτεθεραπευμένον,tetherapeumenonG2323standingἑστῶταhestōtaG2476with them, they hadεἶχονeichonG2192nothingοὐδὲνoudenG3762to sayG471inG471replyG471.

15But when they had orderedΚελεύσαντεςKeleusantesG2753them to leaveἀπελθεῖν,apeltheinG565theCouncilσυνεδρίουsunedriouG4892, they beganto conferσυνέβαλλονsuneballonG4820with oneἀλλήλουςallēlousG240anotherG240,

16sayingλέγοντες·legontesG3004, “WhatτίtiG5101are we to doποιήσωμενpoiēsōmenG4160with theseτούτοις;toutoisG3778menἀνθρώποιςanthrōpoisG444?For theG3754factG3754thatG3754anoteworthyγνωστὸνgnōstonG1110miracleσημεῖονsēmeionG4592has takenG1096placeG1096throughδι᾽di᾽G1223them is apparentφανερόν,phaneronG5318to allπᾶσινpasinG3956who liveκατοικοῦσινkatoikousinG2730in JerusalemἸερουσαλὴμIerousalēmG2419,and we cannotοὐ δυνάμεθαou dunamethaG1410 G3756denyἀρνεῖσθαι·arneisthaiG720it.

18And when they had summonedκαλέσαντεςkalesantesG2564them, theycommandedπαρήγγειλανparēngeilanG3853them not to speakφθέγγεσθαιphthengesthaiG5350orμηδὲmēdeG3366teachδιδάσκεινdidaskeinG1321atG2527allG2527in the nameὀνόματιonomatiG3686of JesusἸησοῦ.¶IēsouG2424.

19ButPeterΠέτροςPetrosG4074and JohnἸωάννηςIōannēsG2491answeredἀποκριθέντεςapokrithentesG611and saidG3004to them, “WhetherεἰeiG1487it is rightδίκαιόνdikaionG1342inG1799theG1799sightG1799ofG1799GodθεοῦtheouG2316to listenἀκούεινakoueinG191to you ratherμᾶλλονmallonG3123thanἢēG2228to Godθεοῦ,theouG2316,makeG2919your ownjudgmentG2919;

20forwe cannotοὐ δυνάμεθαou dunamethaG1410 G3756stopμὴmēG3361speakingλαλεῖν.laleinG2980about whatἃhaG3739we have seenG3708and heardἠκούσαμενēkousamenG191.”

21When they had threatenedG4324them furtherG4324,they letG630them goἀπέλυσανapelusanG630(findingεὑρίσκοντεςheuriskontesG2147noG3367basisG3367on which to punishκολάσωνταιkolasōntaiG2849them)on accountδιὰdiaG1223of the peopleλαόν,laonG2992,becauseὅτιhotiG3754they were allπάντεςpantesG3956glorifyingἐδόξαζονedoxazonG1392GodθεὸνtheonG2316for what had happenedγεγονότι.gegonotiG1096;

22for the manἄνθρωποςanthrōposG444on whomὃνhonG3739thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778miracleσημεῖονsēmeionG4592of healingἰάσεως.¶iaseōsG2392had been performedγεγόνειgegoneiG1096was moreG4183than fortyG5065yearsἐτῶνetōnG2094old.

23When they had been releasedἈπολυθέντεςApoluthentesG630,they wentἦλθονēlthonG2064to their ownἰδίουςidiousG2398companionsand reportedἀπήγγειλανapēngeilanG518everythingὅσαhosaG3745that the chiefἀρχιερεῖςarchiereisG749priestsG749and the eldersπρεσβύτεροιpresbuteroiG4245had saidG3004to them.
