Matthew 4:3-25
3And 1the tempterG3985 cameG4334 and saidG3004 to Him, “IfG1487 You are the 2SonG5207 of GodG2316, commandG3004 that theseG3778 stonesG3037 becomeG1096 breadG740.” 4But He answeredG611 and saidG3004, “It is writtenG1125, ‘3ManG444 shall not liveG2198 on breadG740 aloneG3441, but on everyG3956 wordG4487 that proceedsG1607 out of the mouthG4750 of GodG2316.’”
5ThenG5119 the devilG1228 tookG3880 Him into 4the holyG40 cityG4172 and had Him standG2476 on the pinnacleG4419 of the templeG2413, 6and saidG3004 to Him, “IfG1487 You are the SonG5207 of GodG2316, throwG906 YourselfG4572 downG2736; for it is writtenG1125, ‘5He will commandG1781 His angelsG32 concerningG4012 You’; and ‘On their handsG5495 they will bearG142 You up, SoG3379 that You will not strikeG4350 Your footG4228 againstG4314 a stoneG3037.’” 7JesusG2424 saidG5346 to him, “6On the otherG3825 handG3825, it is writtenG1125, ‘7You shall not putG1598 the LordG2962 your GodG2316 to the testG1598.’”
88AgainG3825, the devilG1228 tookG3880 Him to a veryG3029 highG5308 mountainG3735 and showedG1166 Him allG3956 the kingdomsG932 of the worldG2889 and their gloryG1391; 9and he saidG3004 to Him, “9AllG3956 theseG3778 thingsG3778 I will giveG1325 You, ifG1437 You fallG4098 downG4098 and 10worshipG4352 me.” 10ThenG5119 JesusG2424 saidG3004 to him, “GoG5217, SatanG4567! For it is writtenG1125, ‘11You shall worshipG4352 the LordG2962 your GodG2316, and 12serveG3000 Him onlyG3441.’” 11ThenG5119 the devilG1228 leftG863 Him; and beholdG2400, 13angelsG32 cameG4334 and began to ministerG1247 to Him.
12NowG1161 when Jesus heardG191 that 14JohnG2491 had been takenG3860 into custodyG3860, 15He withdrewG402 into GalileeG1056; 13and leavingG2641 NazarethG3478, He cameG2064 and 16settledG2730 in CapernaumG2746, which is by the seaG3864, in the regionG3725 of ZebulunG2194 and NaphtaliG3508. 14This was to fulfillG4137 whatG3588 was spokenG3004 throughG1223 IsaiahG2268 the prophetG4396:15“17The landG1093 of ZebulunG2194 and the landG1093 of NaphtaliG3508, 18By the wayG3598 of the seaG2281, beyondG4008 the JordanG2446, GalileeG1056 of the 19GentilesG1484--1620The peopleG2992 who were sittingG2521 in darknessG4653 sawG3708 a greatG3173 LightG5457, And thoseG3588 who were sittingG2521 in the landG5561 and shadowG4639 of deathG2288, Upon them a LightG5457 dawnedG393.”
1721From that timeG5119 JesusG2424 beganG757 to 22preachG2784 and sayG3004, “23RepentG3340, for the kingdomG932 of heavenG3772 is at handG1448.”
1824Now as Jesus was walkingG4043 by 25the SeaG2281 of GalileeG1056, He sawG3708 twoG1417 brothersG80, 26SimonG4613 who was calledG3004 PeterG4074, and AndrewG406 his brotherG80, castingG906 a netG293 into the seaG2281; for they were fishermenG231. 19And He saidG3004 to them, “27FollowG1205G3694 Me, and I will makeG4160 you fishersG231 of menG444.” 20ImmediatelyG2112 they leftG863 their netsG1350 and followedG190 Him. 21GoingG4260 on from thereG1564 He sawG3708 twoG1417 otherG243 brothersG80, 2829JamesG2385 the son of ZebedeeG2199, and 30JohnG2491 his brotherG80, in the boatG4143 with ZebedeeG2199 their fatherG3962, mendingG2675 their netsG1350; and He calledG2564 them. 22ImmediatelyG2112 they leftG863 the boatG4143 and their fatherG3962, and followedG190 Him.
23Jesus was goingG4013 31throughoutG4013 allG3650 GalileeG1056, 32teachingG1321 in their synagoguesG4864 and 33proclaimingG2784 the 34gospelG2098 of the kingdomG932, and 35healingG2323 everyG3956 kindG3956 of diseaseG3554 and everyG3956 kindG3956 of sicknessG3119 amongG1722 the peopleG2992.
24The newsG189 about Him spreadG565 36throughoutG1519 allG3650 SyriaG4947; and they broughtG4374 to Him allG3956 who were illG2192G2560, those sufferingG4912 with variousG4164 diseasesG3554 and painsG931, 37demoniacsG1139, 3839epilepticsG4583, 40paralyticsG3885; and He healedG2323 them. 25LargeG4183 crowdsG3793 41followedG190 Him from GalileeG1056 and 42the DecapolisG1179 and JerusalemG2414 and JudeaG2453 and from 43beyondG4008 the JordanG2446.
