Isaiah 60
A Glorified Zion
1“1Arise, shine; for your 2light has come, And the 3glory of the Lord has risen upon you.2For behold, 4darkness will cover the earth And deep darkness the peoples; But the Lord will rise upon you And His 5glory will appear upon you.36Nations will come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.
4“7Lift up your eyes round about and see; They all gather together, they 8come to you. Your sons will come from afar, And your 9daughters will be 10carried in the arms.5Then you will see and be 11radiant, And your heart will 12thrill and rejoice; Because the 13abundance of the sea will be turned to you, The 14wealth of the nations will come to you.6A multitude of camels will cover you, The young camels of Midian and 15Ephah; All those from 16Sheba will come; They will bring 17gold and frankincense, And will 18bear good news of the praises of the Lord.7All the flocks of 19Kedar will be gathered together to you, The rams of Nebaioth will minister to you; They will go up with acceptance on My 20altar, And I shall 2122glorify My 23glorious house.824Who are these who fly like a cloud And like the doves to their 25lattices?9Surely the 26coastlands will wait for Me; And the 27ships of Tarshish will come first, To 28bring your sons from afar, Their silver and their gold with them, For the name of the Lord your God, And for the Holy One of Israel because He has 2930glorified you.
10“31Foreigners will build up your walls, And their 32kings will minister to you; For in My 33wrath I struck you, And in My favor I have had compassion on you.11Your 34gates will be open continually; They will not be closed day or night, So that men may 35bring to you the wealth of the nations, With 36their kings led in procession.12For the 37nation and the kingdom which will not serve you will perish, And the nations will be utterly ruined.13The 38glory of Lebanon will come to you, The 39juniper, the box tree and the cypress together, To beautify the place of My sanctuary; And I shall make the 40place of My feet glorious.14The 41sons of those who afflicted you will come bowing to you, And all those who despised you will bow themselves at the soles of your feet; And they will call you the 42city of the Lord, The 43Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
15“Whereas you have been 44forsaken and 45hated With no one passing through, I will make you an everlasting 46pride, A joy from generation to generation.16You will also 47suck the milk of nations And suck the breast of kings; Then you will know that I, the Lord, am your 48Savior And your 49Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.17Instead of bronze I will bring gold, And instead of iron I will bring silver, And instead of wood, bronze, And instead of stones, iron. And I will make peace your administrators And righteousness your overseers.1850Violence will not be heard again in your land, Nor 51devastation or destruction within your borders; But you will call your 52walls salvation, and your 53gates praise.19No longer will you have the 54sun for light by day, Nor for brightness will the moon give you light; But you will have the 55Lord for an everlasting light, And your 56God for your 57glory.20Your 58sun will no longer set, Nor will your moon wane; For you will have the Lord for an everlasting light, And the days of your 59mourning will be over.21Then all your 60people will be righteous; They will 61possess the land forever, The branch of 62My planting, The 63work of My hands, That I may be 64glorified.22The 65smallest one will become a 66clan, And the least one a mighty nation. I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time.”
