Jeremiah 23:9-22

Concerning the prophetsH5030: My heartH3820 within me is brokenH7665; all my bonesH6106 shake; I amH1961 like a drunkenH7910 manH376, and like a manH376 whom wineH3196 hath overcome; because of Jehovah, and because of the wordsH1697 of his holinessH6944.

For the landH776 is fullH4390 of adulterersH5003; for because of execration the landH776 mourneth. The pastures of the wildernessH4057 are driedH3001 up; for their courseH4794 is evilH7451, and their force is not rightH3651.

For both prophetH5030 and priestH3548 are profane: even in my houseH1004 have I foundH4672 their wickednessH7451, saith Jehovah.

ThereforeH3651 their wayH1870 shall beH1961 unto them as slipperyH2519 places in the darknessH653; they shall beH1961 driven on, and fallH5307 therein: for I will bringH935 evilH7451 upon them in the yearH8141 of their visitation, saith Jehovah.

And I have seenH7200 folly in the prophetsH5030 of SamariaH8111: they prophesiedH5012 by BaalH1168, and caused my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478 to errH8582.

And in the prophetsH5030 of JerusalemH3389 have I seenH7200 a horrible thing: they commitH5003 adulteryH5003, and walkH1980 in falsehoodH8267, and strengthenH2388 the handsH3027 of evildoers, so that none doth returnH7725 from his wickednessH7451. They are all becomeH1961 unto me as SodomH5467, and the inhabitantsH3427 thereof as GomorrahH6017.

ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635 concerning the prophetsH5030: Behold, I will feed them with wormwoodH3939, and make them drinkH8248 waterH4325 of gall; for from the prophetsH5030 of JerusalemH3389 is profaneness goneH3318 forthH3318 into all the landH776.

ThusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635: Hearken not unto the wordsH1697 of the prophetsH5030 that prophesyH5012 unto you: they lead you to vanity; they speakH1696 a visionH2377 of their own heartH3820, not out of the mouthH6310 of Jehovah.

They sayH559 constantly unto them that despise me, Jehovah hath saidH559, Ye shall have peaceH7965. And they sayH559 unto every one that walketh in the stubbornnessH8307 of his heartH3820, No evilH7451 shall comeH935 upon you.

For who hath stoodH5975 in the councilH5475 of Jehovah, so that he hath perceived and heardH8085 his wordH1697? who hath hearkened to his wordH1697 and listenedH8085?

Behold, a tempestH5591 of Jehovah, fury is goneH3318 forthH3318, yea, a whirling stormH5591: it shall whirl down upon the headH7218 of the wickedH7563.

The angerH639 of Jehovah shall not returnH7725, until he have executed, and until he have performed the purposesH4209 of his heartH3820: at the endH319 of the daysH3117 ye shall understandH995 it clearly.

I did not sendH7971 the prophetsH5030, yet they ranH7323; I have not spokenH1696 to them, yet they prophesiedH5012.

But if they had stoodH5975 in my councilH5475, and had caused my peopleH5971 to hearH8085 my wordsH1697, then would they have turnedH7725 them from their evilH7451 wayH1870 and from the wickednessH7455 of their doings.
