Jeremiah 23:9-22
9Concerning the prophetsH5030. My heartH3820 within me is brokenH7665, all my bonesH6106 shake; I amH1961 like a drunkenH7910 manH376, and like a manH376 whom wineH3196 hath overcome, because of Jehovah, and because of his holyH6944 wordsH1697. 10For the landH776 is fullH4390 of adulterersH5003; for because of swearing the landH776 mourneth; the pastures of the wildernessH4057 are driedH3001 up. And their courseH4794 is evilH7451, and their might is not rightH3651; 11for both prophetH5030 and priestH3548 are profane; yea, in my houseH1004 have I foundH4672 their wickednessH7451, saith Jehovah. 12Wherefore their wayH1870 shall beH1961 unto them as slipperyH2519 places in the darknessH653: they shall beH1961 driven on, and fallH5307 therein; for I will bringH935 evilH7451 upon them, even the yearH8141 of their visitation, saith Jehovah.
13And I have seenH7200 folly in the prophetsH5030 of SamariaH8111; they prophesiedH5012 by BaalH1168, and caused my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478 to errH8582. 14In the prophetsH5030 of JerusalemH3389 also I have seenH7200 a horrible thing: they commitH5003 adulteryH5003, and walkH1980 in liesH8267; and they strengthenH2388 the handsH3027 of evil-doers, so that none doth returnH7725 from his wickednessH7451: they are all of them becomeH1961 unto me as SodomH5467, and the inhabitantsH3427 thereof as GomorrahH6017. 15ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635 concerning the prophetsH5030: Behold, I will feed them with wormwoodH3939, and make them drinkH8248 the waterH4325 of gall; for from the prophetsH5030 of JerusalemH3389 is ungodliness goneH3318 forthH3318 into all the landH776.
16ThusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635, Hearken not unto the wordsH1697 of the prophetsH5030 that prophesyH5012 unto you: they teach you vanity; they speakH1696 a visionH2377 of their own heartH3820, and not out of the mouthH6310 of Jehovah. 17They sayH559 continually unto them that despise me, Jehovah hath saidH559, Ye shall have peaceH7965; and unto every one that walketh in the stubbornnessH8307 of his own heartH3820 they sayH559, No evilH7451 shall comeH935 upon you. 18For who hath stoodH5975 in the councilH5475 of Jehovah, that he should perceive and hearH8085 his wordH1697? who hath marked my wordH1697, and heardH8085 it? 19Behold, the tempestH5591 of Jehovah, even his wrathH2534, is goneH3318 forthH3318, yea, a whirling tempestH5591: it shall burst upon the headH7218 of the wickedH7563. 20The angerH639 of Jehovah shall not returnH7725, until he have executed, and till he have performed the intents of his heartH3820: in the latterH319 daysH3117 ye shall understandH995 it perfectly. 21I sentH7971 not these prophetsH5030, yet they ranH7323: I spake not unto them, yet they prophesiedH5012. 22But if they had stoodH5975 in my councilH5475, then had they caused my peopleH5971 to hearH8085 my wordsH1697, and had turnedH7725 them from their evilH7451 wayH1870, and from the evilH7451 of their doings.
