Jeremiah 13

1ThusH3541 saith Jehovah unto me, GoH1980, and buyH7069 thee a linenH6593 girdle, and putH7760 it upon thy loinsH4975, and putH7760 it not in waterH4325. 2So I boughtH7069 a girdle according to the wordH1697 of Jehovah, and putH7760 it upon my loinsH4975. 3And the wordH1697 of Jehovah came unto me the secondH8145 timeH8145, sayingH559, 4TakeH3947 the girdle that thou hast boughtH7069, which is upon thy loinsH4975, and ariseH6965, go to the EuphratesH6578, and hideH2934 it there in a cleft of the rockH5553. 5So I went, and hidH2934 it by the EuphratesH6578, as Jehovah commandedH6680 me. 6And it came to pass after manyH7227 daysH3117, that Jehovah saidH559 unto me, AriseH6965, go to the EuphratesH6578, and takeH3947 the girdle from thence, which I commandedH6680 thee to hideH2934 there. 7Then I went to the EuphratesH6578, and digged, and tookH3947 the girdle from the placeH4725 whereH834 I had hidH2934 it; and, behold, the girdle was marred, it was profitable for nothing.

8Then the wordH1697 of Jehovah came unto me, sayingH559, 9ThusH3541 saith Jehovah, After this manner will I mar the prideH1347 of JudahH3063, and the greatH7227 prideH1347 of JerusalemH3389. 10This evilH7451 peopleH5971, that refuse to hearH8085 my wordsH1697, that walkH1980 in the stubbornnessH8307 of their heartH3820, and are goneH1980 after otherH312 godsH430 to serveH5647 them, and to worship them, shall even beH1961 as this girdle, which is profitable for nothing. 11For as the girdle cleaveth to the loinsH4975 of a manH376, soH3651 have I caused to cleave unto me the whole houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 and the whole houseH1004 of JudahH3063, saith Jehovah; that they may beH1961 unto me for a peopleH5971, and for a nameH8034, and for a praiseH8416, and for a gloryH8597: but they would not hearH8085.

12Therefore thou shalt speak unto them this wordH1697: ThusH3541 saith Jehovah, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, Every bottle shall be filledH4390 with wineH3196: and they shall sayH559 unto thee, Do we not certainly knowH3045 that every bottle shall be filledH4390 with wineH3196? 13Then shalt thou sayH559 unto them, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah, Behold, I will fillH4390 all the inhabitantsH3427 of this landH776, even the kingsH4428 that sitH3427 upon David’s throneH3678, and the priestsH3548, and the prophetsH5030, and all the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389, with drunkennessH7943. 14And I will dash them oneH376 against another, even the fathersH1 and the sonsH1121 togetherH3162, saith Jehovah: I will not pityH2347, nor spareH2550, nor have compassionH7355, that I should not destroyH7843 them.

15HearH8085 ye, and giveH238 earH238; be not proud; for Jehovah hath spokenH1696. 16GiveH5414 gloryH3519 to Jehovah your GodH430, before he cause darknessH6757, and before your feetH7272 stumble upon the darkH2821 mountainsH2022, and, while ye look for lightH216, he turn it into the shadow of death, and makeH7760 it gross darknessH6757. 17But if ye will not hearH8085 it, my soulH5315 shall weepH1058 in secretH4565 for your prideH1466; and mine eyeH5869 shall weepH1058 sore, and run down with tearsH1832, because Jehovah’s flockH5739 is takenH7617 captiveH7617.

18SayH559 thou unto the kingH4428 and to the queen-mother, Humble yourselves, sitH3427 down; for your headtires are comeH3381 down, even the crownH5850 of your gloryH8597. 19The citiesH5892 of the SouthH5045 are shutH5462 up, and there is none to openH6605 them: JudahH3063 is carried away captive, all of it; it is wholly carried away captive.

20LiftH5375 up your eyesH5869, and behold them that comeH935 from the northH6828: whereH346 is the flockH6629 that was givenH5414 thee, thy beautiful flockH6629? 21What wilt thou sayH559, when he shall set over thee as headH7218 those whom thou hast thyself taughtH3925 to be friends to thee? shall not sorrows takeH270 holdH270 of thee, as of a womanH802 in travail? 22And if thou sayH559 in thy heartH3824, Wherefore are these thingsH428 come upon me? for the greatnessH7230 of thine iniquityH5771 are thy skirtsH7757 uncoveredH1540, and thy heelsH6119 suffer violenceH2554. 23Can the Ethiopian changeH2015 his skinH5785, or the leopardH5246 his spots? then may ye alsoH1571 do goodH3190, that are accustomed to do evilH7489. 24Therefore will I scatterH6327 them, as the stubbleH7179 that passeth awayH5674, by the windH7307 of the wildernessH4057. 25This is thy lotH1486, the portionH4490 measured unto thee from me, saith Jehovah; because thou hast forgottenH7911 me, and trustedH982 in falsehoodH8267. 26Therefore will I alsoH1571 uncover thy skirtsH7757 upon thy faceH6440, and thy shameH7036 shall appearH7200. 27I have seenH7200 thine abominationsH8251, even thine adulteriesH5004, and thy neighingsH4684, the lewdness of thy whoredom, on the hillsH1389 in the fieldH7704. WoeH188 unto thee, O JerusalemH3389! thou wilt not be made cleanH2891; how long shall it yetH5750 be?
