Galatians 4

Darby Bible

1NowG1161 I sayG3004, As long as the heirG2818 isG1510 a childG3516, he differsG1308 nothing from a bondman, though he beG1510 lordG2962 of all; 2but he isG1510 under guardians and stewardsG3623 until the period fixed by the fatherG3962. 3So we alsoG2532, whenG3753 we wereG1510 childrenG3516, wereG1510 held in bondageG1402 under the principles of the worldG2889; 4but whenG3753 the fulness of the timeG5550 was comeG2064, 1GodG2316 sent forthG1821 his SonG5207, comeG2064 of womanG1135, comeG2064 under lawG3551, 5that he might redeemG1805 those under lawG3551, that we might receiveG618 sonship. 6But because ye areG1510 sonsG5207, 2GodG2316 has sent out the SpiritG4151 of his SonG5207 into our heartsG2588, cryingG2896, AbbaG5, FatherG3962. 7So thou art no longer bondman, but sonG5207; but if sonG5207, heirG2818 alsoG2532 through 3GodG2316. 8But thenG5119 indeed, not knowing 4GodG2316, ye wereG1510 in bondage to those who by natureG5449 areG1510 not 5godsG2316; 9but nowG1161, knowingG1097 6GodG2316, but ratherG3123 being knownG1097 by 7GodG2316, howG4459 do ye turnG1994 againG3825 to the weakG772 and beggarly principles to which ye desireG2309 to be againG3825 anew in bondage? 10Ye observe daysG2250 and monthsG3376 and timesG2540 and years. 11I am afraidG5399 of you, lestG3361 indeed I have laboured in vainG1500 as to you. 12Be as I [am], for I also [am] as ye, brethren, I beseech you: ye have not at all wrongedG91 me. 13But ye know that in weaknessG769 of the fleshG4561 I announced the glad tidings to you at the first; 14and my temptationG3986, which [was] in my fleshG4561, ye did not slight nor reject with contempt; but ye receivedG1209 me as an angelG32 of 8GodG2316, as ChristG5547 JesusG2424. 15What thenG3767 [was] your blessednessG3108? for I bearG3140 you witnessG3140 that, if possibleG1415, plucking out your own eyesG3788 ye would have givenG1325 [them] to me. 16So I have becomeG1096 your enemyG2190 in speakingG226 the truthG226 to you? 17They are not rightlyG2573 zealous after you, but desireG2309 to shut you out [from us], that ye may be zealous after them. 18But [it is] rightG2570 to be zealous at all times in what is rightG2570, and not onlyG3440 when I am presentG3918 with you — 19my childrenG5043, of whom I againG3825 travail in birth until ChristG5547 shall have been formed in you: 20and I should wishG2309 to be presentG737 with you nowG1161, and changeG236 my voiceG5456, for I am perplexedG639 as to you. 21TellG3004 me, ye who areG1510 desirous of beingG1510 under lawG3551, do ye not listenG191 to the lawG3551? 22For it is writtenG1125 that AbrahamG11 had twoG1417 sonsG5207; oneG1520 of the maid servant, and oneG1520 of the freeG1658 woman. 23But he [that was] of the maid servant was bornG1080 accordingG2596 to fleshG4561, and he [that was] of the freeG1658 woman through the promiseG1860. 24Which thingsG3778 have an allegorical sense; for these areG1510 twoG1417 covenantsG1242: oneG1520 from mountG3735 SinaiG4614, gendering to bondage, which isG1510 HagarG28. 25For Hagar isG1510 mountG3735 SinaiG4614 in ArabiaG688, and corresponds to JerusalemG2419 which [isG1510] nowG1161, for she isG1510 in bondage with her childrenG5043; 26but the JerusalemG2419 above isG1510 freeG1658, which isG1510 our motherG3384. 27For it is writtenG1125, RejoiceG2165, thou barrenG4723 that bearest not; break out and cryG994, thou that travailest not; because the childrenG5043 of the desolateG2048 are moreG3123 numerous than [those] of her that has a husbandG435. 28But ye, brethren, after the pattern of IsaacG2464, areG1510 childrenG5043 of promiseG1860. 29But as then he that was bornG1080 accordingG2596 to fleshG4561 persecutedG1377 him [that was bornG1080] accordingG2596 to SpiritG4151, so alsoG2532 [it is] nowG3568. 30But what saysG3004 the scriptureG1124? CastG1544 out the maid servant and her sonG5207; for the sonG5207 of the maid servant shall not inheritG2816 with the sonG5207 of the freeG1658 woman. 31So then, brethren, we areG1510 not maid servant's childrenG5043, but [childrenG5043] of the freeG1658 woman.
