Jeremiah 23:21-40
21I did not sendH7971 the prophetsH5030, yet they ranH7323; I have not spokenH1696 to them, yet they prophesiedH5012. 22But if they had stoodH5975 in my councilH5475, and had caused my peopleH5971 to hearH8085 my wordsH1697, then would they have turnedH7725 them from their evilH7451 wayH1870 and from the wickednessH7455 of their doings. 23Am I a 1GodH430 at hand, saith Jehovah, and not a 2GodH430 afarH7350 off? 24Can any hideH5641 himself in secretH4565 placesH4565, that I shall not seeH7200 him? saith Jehovah. Do not I fillH4390 the heavensH8064 and the earthH776? saith Jehovah. 25I have heardH8085 what the prophetsH5030 sayH559, who prophesyH5012 falsehoodH8267 in my nameH8034, sayingH559, I have dreamedH2492, I have dreamedH2492. 26How long shall [this] be in the heartH3820 of the prophetsH5030 who prophesyH5012 falsehoodH8267, and who are prophetsH5030 of the deceit of their own heartH3820? 27who think to cause my peopleH5971 to forgetH7911 my nameH8034 by their dreamsH2472 which they tell every manH376 to his neighbour: as their fathersH1 have forgottenH7911 my nameH8034 for BaalH1168. 28The prophetH5030 that hath a dreamH2472, let him tell the dreamH2472; and he that hath my wordH1697, let him speakH1696 my wordH1697 faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith Jehovah. 29Is not my wordH1697 like a fireH784, saith Jehovah; and like a hammerH6360 [that] breaketh the rockH5553 in pieces? 30ThereforeH3651, behold, I am against the prophetsH5030, saith Jehovah, that stealH1589 my wordsH1697 every oneH376 from his neighbour. 31Behold, I am against the prophetsH5030, saith Jehovah, that use their tonguesH3956, and say, He hath said. 32Behold, I am against them that prophesyH5012 false dreamsH2472, saith Jehovah, and that tell them, and cause my peopleH5971 to errH8582 by their liesH8267 and by their boasting; and I have not sentH7971 them, nor commandedH6680 them; and they profitH3276 not this peopleH5971 at all, saith Jehovah. 33And when this peopleH5971, or a prophetH5030, or a priestH3548, askH7592 thee, sayingH559, What is the burdenH4853 of Jehovah? thou shalt then sayH559 unto them, What burdenH4853? I will even cast you off, saith Jehovah. 34And as for the prophetH5030, and the priestH3548, and the peopleH5971, that shall sayH559, The burdenH4853 of Jehovah, I will even punishH6485 that manH376 and his houseH1004. 35ThusH3541 shall ye sayH559 every oneH376 to his neighbour, and every oneH376 to his brotherH251: What hath Jehovah answered? and, What hath Jehovah spokenH1696? 36And the burdenH4853 of Jehovah shall ye mention no more; for every man's own wordH1697 shall beH1961 his burdenH4853: for ye have perverted the wordsH1697 of the living 3GodH430, of Jehovah of hostsH6635, our 4GodH430. 37ThusH3541 shalt thou sayH559 to the prophetH5030: What hath Jehovah answered thee? and, What hath Jehovah spokenH1696? 38But since ye sayH559, The burdenH4853 of Jehovah, thereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith Jehovah: Because ye sayH559 this wordH1697, The burdenH4853 of Jehovah, and I have sentH7971 unto you, sayingH559, Ye shall not sayH559, The burdenH4853 of Jehovah; 39thereforeH3651 behold, I will utterly forgetH5382 you, and I will cast you off, far from my faceH6440, and the cityH5892 that I gaveH5414 to you and to your fathersH1. 40And I will bring everlasting reproachH2781 upon you, and everlasting shame, that shall not be forgottenH7911.
