Jeremiah 16
1The wordH1697 of Jehovah came also unto me, sayingH559, 2Thou shalt not takeH3947 thee a wifeH802, neither shalt thou have sonsH1121 or daughtersH1323, in this placeH4725. 3For thusH3541 saith Jehovah concerning the sonsH1121 and concerning the daughtersH1323 that are bornH3205 in this placeH4725, and concerning their mothersH517 that bare them, and concerning their fathersH1 that begat them in this landH776: 4They shall dieH4191 grievous deaths: they shall not beH1961 lamentedH5594, neither shall they beH1961 buriedH6912; they shall beH1961 as dungH1828 upon the faceH6440 of the groundH776; and they shall beH1961 consumed by the swordH2719, and by famineH7458; and their deadH4191 bodies shall beH1961 foodH3978 for the birdsH5775 of the heavensH8064, and for the beasts of the earthH776.
5For thusH3541 saith Jehovah, Enter not into the houseH1004 of mourning, neither goH935 to lamentH5594, neither bemoan them; for I have taken away my peaceH7965 from this peopleH5971, saith Jehovah, even lovingkindness and tender mercies. 6Both greatH1419 and smallH6996 shall dieH4191 in this landH776; they shall not be buriedH6912, neither shall men lamentH5594 for them, nor cutH1413 themselves, nor makeH7139 themselves baldH7139 for them; 7neither shall men breakH6536 bread for them in mourningH60, to comfortH5162 them for the deadH4191; neither shall men giveH8248 them the cupH3563 of consolationH8575 to drinkH8248 for their fatherH1 or for their motherH517. 8And thou shalt not goH935 into the houseH1004 of feastingH4960 to sitH3427 with them, to eatH398 and to drinkH8354. 9For thusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478: Behold, I will cause to ceaseH7673 out of this placeH4725, before your eyesH5869 and in your daysH3117, the voiceH6963 of mirth and the voiceH6963 of gladnessH8057, the voiceH6963 of the bridegroom and the voiceH6963 of the brideH3618.
10And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt show this peopleH5971 all these wordsH1697, and they shall sayH559 unto thee, Wherefore hath Jehovah pronounced all this greatH1419 evilH7451 against us? or what is our iniquityH5771? or what is our sinH2398 that we have committed against Jehovah our GodH430? 11then shalt thou sayH559 unto them, Because your fathersH1 have forsaken me, saith Jehovah, and have walked after otherH312 godsH430, and have servedH5647 them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not keptH8104 my lawH8451; 12and ye have done evilH7451 more than your fathersH1; for, behold, ye walkH1980 every oneH376 after the stubbornnessH8307 of his evilH7451 heartH3820, so that ye hearken not unto me: 13therefore will I cast you forth out of this landH776 into the landH776 that ye have not knownH3045, neither ye nor your fathersH1; and there shall ye serveH5647 otherH312 godsH430 dayH3119 and nightH3915; for I will show you no favor.
14ThereforeH3651, behold, the daysH3117 comeH935, saith Jehovah, that it shall no more be saidH559, As Jehovah liveth, that broughtH935 up the children of IsraelH3478 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714; 15but, As Jehovah liveth, that broughtH5927 up the children of IsraelH3478 from the landH776 of the northH6828, and from all the countries whither he had drivenH5080 them. And I will bringH7725 them again into their landH776 that I gaveH5414 unto their fathersH1.
16Behold, I will sendH7971 for manyH7227 fishers, saith Jehovah, and they shall fish them up; and afterward I will sendH7971 for manyH7227 hunters, and they shall huntH6679 them from every mountainH2022, and from every hillH2022, and out of the cleftsH5357 of the rocksH5553. 17For mine eyesH5869 are upon all their waysH1870; they are not hidH5641 from my faceH6440, neither is their iniquityH5771 concealedH5641 from mine eyesH5869. 18And firstH7223 I will recompense their iniquityH5771 and their sinH2403 doubleH4932, because they have polluted my landH776 with the carcassesH5038 of their detestableH8251 thingsH8251, and have filledH4390 mine inheritanceH5159 with their abominationsH8441.
19O Jehovah, my strengthH5797, and my strongholdH4581, and my refugeH4581 in the dayH3117 of affliction, unto thee shall the nationsH1471 comeH935 from the endsH657 of the earthH776, and shall sayH559, Our fathersH1 have inheritedH5157 nought but liesH8267, even vanityH1892 and things wherein there is no profitH3276. 20Shall a manH120 makeH6213 unto himself godsH430, which yet are no godsH430?
21ThereforeH3651, behold, I will cause them to knowH3045, this once will I cause them to knowH3045 my handH3027 and my might; and they shall knowH3045 that my nameH8034 is Jehovah.
