Luke 20:9-26
91But He beganG757 to tellG3004 the peopleG2992 thisG3778 parableG3850: “A manG444 plantedG5452 a vineyardG290 and leasedG1554 it to 2vine-growersG1092, and wentG589 onG589 aG589 journeyG589 for a longG2425 timeG5550. 10At the harvest timeG2540 he sentG649 a slaveG1401 to the vine-growersG1092, soG2443 thatG2443 they would giveG1325 him his share of the produceG2590 of the vineyardG290; but the vine-growersG1092 beatG1194 him and sentG1821 him awayG1821 empty-handedG2756. 11And he proceededG4369 to sendG3992 anotherG2087 slaveG1401; but they beatG1194 him alsoG2548 and treatedG818 him shamefullyG818, and sentG1821 him awayG1821 empty-handedG2756. 12And he proceededG4369 to sendG3992 a thirdG5154; but thisG3778 oneG3778 tooG2532 they woundedG5135 and threwG1544 outG1544. 13NowG1161 the 3ownerG2962 of the vineyardG290 saidG3004, ‘WhatG5101 am I to doG4160? I will sendG3992 my belovedG27 sonG5207; perhapsG2481 they will 4respectG1788 him.’ 14But when the vine-growersG1092 sawG3708 him, they discussedG1260 with oneG240 anotherG240, sayingG3004, ‘ThisG3778 is the heirG2818; let’s killG615 him soG2443 thatG2443 the inheritanceG2817 will be oursG1473.’ 15And so they threwG1544 him outG1544 of the vineyardG290 and killedG615 him. WhatG5101, thenG3767, will the 5ownerG2962 of the vineyardG290 doG4160 to them? 16He will comeG2064 and 6putG622 theseG3778 vine-growersG1092 toG622 deathG622, and will giveG1325 the vineyardG290 to othersG243.” However, whenG1161 they heardG191 this, they saidG3004, “7May it neverG3361 happenG3361!” 17But 8Jesus lookedG1689 atG1689 them and saidG3004, “ThenG3767 whatG5101 is thisG3778 statement that has been writtenG1125: ‘9A stoneG3037 whichG3739 the buildersG3618 rejectedG593, ThisG3778 has becomeG1096 10the 11chiefG2776 cornerstoneG1137’? 1812EveryoneG3956 who fallsG4098 on that stoneG3037 will be brokenG4917 toG4917 piecesG4917; but on whomeverG3739G302 it fallsG4098, it will crushG3039 him.”
19The scribesG1122 and the chiefG749 priestsG749 13triedG2212 to layG1911 handsG5495 on Him that veryG846 hourG5610, and yet they fearedG5399 the peopleG2992; for they were awareG1097 that He had spokenG3004 thisG3778 parableG3850 againstG4314 them. 2014And so they watchedG3906 Him 15closelyG3906, and sentG649 spiesG1455 who pretendedG5271 to be righteousG1342, inG2443 orderG2443 16that they might catchG1949 Him in some statementG3056, soG5620 thatG5620 they could handG3860 Him overG3860 to the jurisdictionG746 and authorityG1849 of 17the governorG2232. 21And the spies questionedG1905 Him, sayingG3004, “TeacherG1320, we knowG3609 that You speakG3004 and teachG1321 correctlyG3723, and You 18are not partialG2983G4383 to anyone, but You teachG1321 the wayG3598 of GodG2316 on the basisG1909 of truthG225. 22Is it 19permissibleG1832 for us 20to payG1325 taxesG5411 to CaesarG2541, orG2228 not?” 23But He sawG2657 throughG2657 their trickeryG3834 and saidG3004 to them, 24“ShowG1166 Me a 21denariusG1220. WhoseG5101 imageG1504 and inscriptionG1923 does it haveG2192?” They saidG3004, “Caesar’sG2541.” 25And He saidG3004 to them, “ThenG5106 22payG591 to CaesarG2541 the things that are Caesar’sG2541, and to GodG2316 the things that are God’sG2316.” 26And they were unableG3756G2480 to 23catchG1949 Him in a statementG4487 inG1726 theG1726 presenceG1726 of the peopleG2992; and they wereG2296 amazedG2296 at His answerG612, and saidG4601 nothingG4601.
